I did this couple years back..cut one out of 6k dd coil..mounted it in a jiffy box .. coil works but box touch sensitive.. tried various shields on box to limit noise .. eventually changed stnd coil plug and special kind of shield on box .. 11in mono is still best Found can only use sadie coil
I was thinking the same. I don’t use the DD would that work on 100mm monster coil. I would hope it would amplify the sensitivity when scanning quartz and tight places. Len
I have an 11" standard minelab 6k coil that was touch sensitive, do you want it? I have opened it up to have a look, but its intact. Id love to see if a 17 x 13 nf evo could be converted?
Woody , if you use the Dongle out of the 6000 DD to make a patch lead , does this mean you can only use DD coils. ? And if you use the Dongle out of the 6000 Mono to make a patch lead , does this mean you can only use Mono coils. ?
Does it make a difference? This is something not tested, it depends if the dongle has different data for different modes or does the detector sense mono flyback or current draw on the connector? to be nutted out when coils are available.
Yes each coil has a different chip pin-out configuration. When Chet in the USA did it, he found he needed 2 dongles, one for mono, one for DD. He also created a unique plug-in coil arrangement where the entire cable was kept intact with the dongle.
That would be a waste of a good coil. The 6000 DD is very good when no other coil will work properly. I have found a shit load of gold with the DD coil the bad emi situations. The chip in the DD is different from the mono.
So if I make a dongle for my GPZ7000 using my 19inch mine lab plug . Can I run any of my older coils ? On my 7000 ? Anyone tried this with there old coils
That is a great idea. I will visit your shop and contribute $10 to the project.

@@DetectorMods try n send tmw mate somehow
Gidday Woody, what mods can you do on the gpx6000,
Search my videos as there is plenty of info.

We do not know unless we can pull one apart and test,
Woody can you make me a 100mm coil to suit my 6000 happy to pay for it and film you the results in rock and ground. Len.
Before I can make a coil for the 6000 I have to be able to make a dongle for it.

That is the best option yet. I think that most coils can be made to work.
On ya mate

I will try with one of my high Q coils that i make, I still believe that it is a worthwhile project on the Mono.

It will not work on the GPZ 7000 with old coils.
I'm in
The more onboard the faster i can start.
hi woody . this is benny . i email you .thanks
Got it.
