I haven't touched the character's original home at all. In my mind the Sole Survivor can't bring herself to go back into her old home after everything that's happened.
Quick update - the reason for the delay in new Fallout videos (I was just finishing uploading one a minute ago) - is that because as I forgot turn off the radio, I received an automated copyright claim. It's cool, I hadn't published it yet, so no strike against me. But it does mean that I have to re-record everything and edit. Which means the video will be up tomorrow instead. I'll upload my Don't Starve video tonight, and then post the Fallout one tomorrow.
i hate how everything is dang near copy right protected pretty much means you have to make your own stuff (i know there is stuff you can use but most good stuff or in game stuff you cant)
I don't understand how they have the cheek to do you for copy right, it's part of the fucking game and you've clearly listed that it's a video about Fallout 4 lol. Funny corporations and their stupid bitter rules.
Honestly you really deserve all this channel growth, and more. Your commentary gameplay and fact that you are actually good at what you do is great. Better tham another "fallout builders" also known as creators of large sized boxes and repetitive textures, and just shit. Love you dave. :)
I assigned Carla to the vault 88 test bike and made her cycle to her death😂 then build a gym on top of her corpse. I wish I can do the same with the vault Tec guy, but he can't be assigned to anything..
Fuck off I don’t care about you’re child! Upon leaving the Vault I was devastated but decided to build houses and forgot that I even needed to rescue a child or something I dunno.
Frozen for 200 years, you are able to scrap anything for materials, however you can only build post-war garbage... This drives me crazy! I want to be able to build a pristine house, have a settler sweep leaves, cut grass, pick up trash. It would also be nice if you could scrap ANYTHING in the settlement area even the full houses because even with covering windows and adding a roof they still look pretty bad.
+lewisner true or a shit ton of materials so you would have to work for it but I would definitely save up. I am so posses I built a huge wall around Country Crossing with 306 defense and I got the message it was under attack I fast traveled and boom all synth dead then I failed the mission somehow, I even tried sleeping there for 24 hours. What's the point of turrets and defense if you have to constantly go back to the settlements.
Something I've noticed when placing junk items as decorations, is that the bigger the item, the better it stays. Things like paint cans, animal hides, and the exercise weights tend to stay put after fast travelling. Even some long guns work also. Loving these videos by the way.
Just been watching your series and MAN it’s so good even 8 years later aha! I recently started playing F4 again and wanted to make a good Minutemen General play through with good settlements and man your guides have been so helpful!
Thank you so much for these videos. They are FANTASTIC. I'm still on my first play-through so I didn't want to watch too many videos but I wish I had seen yours. I did exactly what you apparently did the first time through and completely scrapped the inside of my old house. After listening to your comments on keeping some of the old stuff I realized how brilliant that was. I guess I'll try that on my next play-through. I am very impressed with your design sense. You are constantly pointing out things that I am not even thinking about because I am concentrating on the quest line. Thanks a bunch and keep up the GREAT work!!
+Rosteez He should work at Bethesda and use that "You... Glorious, but very odd bastards." in every meeting where they discuss the game they're making. xD
I love making all of my houses look like a hoarder lives there. I wish you could place junk and it didn't move. I tried and I found cans and bottles strewn all about Sanctuary. Hopefully a mod comes along that allows us to do that. You are one of my favorite TH-camrs, because you go for looks and not just functionality. Keep on churning out these videos.
Thanks for these videos. The tutorial and walk through vids on your channel are great, really helped me and inspired me. Your designs are some of the best and most realistic looking I've seen so great job. Looking forward to more.
This is amazing! I agree with everything you think Bethesda needs to add to the game in terms of DLC. I'm gonna go and completely re-do my decorations in my settlements because I never thought that the paintings were what was making it all look so tacky-looking (and I mean the BAD kind of tacky). Love your videos! Keep them coming!
By the way: Microsoft has already partnered with Bethesda to support modding and Sony is following soon with it. So, soon we (PS4 users) will be able to access mods that provide more structures to build with.
I think it's also worth mentioning that you can find items in the world that will be stored as junk when you collect it. You can drop these things and go into workshop mode in your settlement and pick them up and place them wherever you please. For example you can find balls used for pool and place them on the pool table. Or you can find an earth globe and place it on a table, same with cups. I'm surprised norespawn didn't mention that here.
Great work, I hope that Beth will add more and more items, like ammo boxes, it's a shame that there aren't in the furniture list! Keep up with the good work
I like to use the paintings that have outdoor landscapes on them on the windows that i board up to give them a sense like they are still windows and you have a nice landscape to look out at.
you can place the terminal on the desk! Don´t know if you know already but if you place the terminal on a carpet and move the the carpet afterwards, the terminal will stay on the position and move with the carpet. the best is that the terminal can be placed inside other objects and the visible parts will stay there.
+marcus donlin Sorry, man. Not 100% on the name part. Try going on the Fallout 4 Nexus and searching "weapon racks." If nothing comes up, try browsing through the "Player Settlement" category. Hope this helps!
For blocking holes in the wall I use Wall>Wood which is actually a sheet of greenish blue corrugated iron, not a bad match for the rusty blue of the walls. Best place to decorate is The Slog, really solid building with 3 big rooms in good condition.
I have a weird, maybe specific problem with interior decorating. I like to put small details like wine bottles junk on a lot of the furniture to give it a lived in feel, but whenever I come back, the items literally have sank into the furniture. I can go into build mode and bring them back up, but is this specific to me or do you have this problem too? Also, great video, Your house looks fucking fantastic!
+Kevin Gesell No unfortunately that's just the game engine - I would LOVE to be able to add more junk around the houses, but they just sink into floors or fly off everywhere. Hopefully we get a fix to this - maybe the ability to 'lock' items into place.
+Kevin Gesell I think I may have found a way to make them not sink. Although, it takes more time to place the item. Just pick the item up by yourself. Don't go into build mode to pick it up and place it
+Kevin Gesell If you're on PC and ready to start installing mods try OCDecorator on Nexusmods. It's great to actually clutter the place up a bit and have things stay where you put them! Physics objects seem to have finally evolved sentience and wander off to hide under some table as soon as you turn your back in Fallout 4.
I've used fancy furniture to good effect in my settlements before, my raider Queen had the only two fancy chairs in the entire settlement to use as her personal thrones. One in her house and another in the communal house I put together in the middle of town, they had that dominant exclusive look to them which fit well with the theme I was trying to establish. Also when I played a BOS playthrough, I made my own officer building with a bunch of fancy furniture as well as paintings around the place (You would have hated it lol,) I really thought it turned out well to be honest.
wonderful video mate super useful in my eyes i would actually like more on like patios and outdoor areas like hangout places you know not houses but like recreation you could say. Other than that great video super chill nice keep it ups
I went for more of a pre-war looking design for my house. It looks good if you pick the right things as well. I guess it's just opinion and whether you want a tatty look or a more fancy look
Did you find out how to have the Junk not fly around? Its strange to me, but works. drop em on the floor, do a standard (not quick) save place them, and do another standard save. they will stay in place where you put them. It has something to do with junk having memory of where it once was. Try it, and let me know!
I found it useful and liked most of it, Idk about the every room a "tool room" do u mean he uses tools in every room or just to use tool objects because there most likely to be in best condition after the bombs, cant wait for next video. (as far as item decor can you not like have a bathtub full of jet in the living room or leave a gun on the rack in you room or will they disappear? ) Big fan are u making a live stream at some point?
+KIto D I just like having a scrappy area in most rooms. I like the clutter. Livestream will come sometime - probably closer to summer as I'd rather do that on PC I think (and thus I need an upgrade) :)
Hey spawns just wanted to say your truly talented and your videos are amazing! Will there be a tips and tricks video explaining how to build on the roof of sanctuary? Thanks :)
I just freed/opened Finch farm. Please put it on your list of builds. Large are, and there's a high level overpass within the build area. By the bye, lets be honest. You're got the time and ability to in time build all the settlements eventually. :) Keep up the good work Davy. And Thank you for your efforts, Scott
I always leave the window in the bedroom open since that's where my deathclaw cage is, and when I manage to find Yao-Guai meat, I repair and catch a deathclaw. Also, I'm planning on building a raider cage for simulated attacks.
About your opinions on Fancy furniture and paintings. I think it really depends. Tenpenny tower had fancy furniture and paintings but only cause they were all biggot fancy-pants. I really think it depends on what kind of style you're going for.
Dude. Love your work! Quick question. Iv been trying to place shack foundations on top of sanctuary houses and can't get it right. Do you have a technique/glitch?
I could never bring myself to destroy Codsworth's boxes or Shaun's crib. It's the Survivor's only connection to their family, how cold do you have to be to scrap that??
Well for people who are working on settlements just go for a theme with your house like in fallout 3 I went with modern black and wood with tons on weapons displayed , anyways I like always adding wire fences as Windows for the sanctuary houses they look better tbh
norespawns Yeah, I'm curious to see how they're gonna handle that. Will Beth be picking the mods themselves or will Sony be doing it or will it just be as easy as uploading your PC made mod to some PS4/Xbox1 repository? Will there be any form of oversight or will it be flooded with nudemods and cheats? Anyway, I can't play bethesda games without mods, so it's always been pc for me. Make sure to try my soundmod when it's possible ;)
+OddballEasyEight That is mod is fucking treat! But I play on my PS4 more than my PC, and each time I return to my main safehouse it's as if raiders ransacked my rooms. Quite annoying.
Haha I'm the same way with my character's home. I do not allow anyone else entering it. I barricaded the doors off so that way no one will enter it. Heh, silly me. Of course they still do enter it and I find Preston or Cait wandering around inside of it which pisses me off. I go ape-shit on them, causing everyone to go hostile on me, resulting me in having to reload the game again. This was of course before I knew that you can reinforce the walls and roof like you did in this video. I never scrap anything in the house except for the broken beds. The main bedroom's bed is where your character and your spouse 'made' Shaun. ;) But the bed had to go.
The Devs need to fix the item clipping issues. Constantly coming back to my house to find all (most) items on the floor or totally clipped thru the ground.
1: you should turn up your video volume in whatever editing program you use. I was having a bit of trouble hearing you til I maxed the volume. 2: I would love if you did a simple vid on how to make those builds above the houses. I've tried something like that but it doesn't look at beautiful as yours. Keep up the good work. I'll be critiquing your videos to help you from the point of view of the "sub".
I put paintings, but in a way that, I think, says "We found this random shit, lets put it here!" My bar in Sanctuary has all of the animal paintings on the walls. I like to imagine that they wandered into Concord and found a bunch of kitty paintings in a little girl's room and brought them back for laugh. The beagle painting is centre stage, named the bar The Beagle.
I don't have fallout, but i was wondering if it might be possible to put the terminal on the desk using the rugs? Again i don't have fallout, and its probably common knowledge, but maybe, very maybe it works? Anyway love your vids, and keep up the awesome work! :)
+norespawns too bad, i have seen people using small wooden platforms to get things (mainly doors) higher, not sure if it would work here, and if a wooden plank under a desk looks good xD
I notice you're often annoyed by the brahmin that the traders come into town with - I don't know if you're aware, but there is a structure you can unlock by helping out Bunker Hill. It lets you place down a little station where the wondering traders then set up shop. The new structure is under Resources > Misc once it's unlocked.
Do you think you could do a video on how to build good walls? I see people all the time that use the same wall piece over and over and it looks like shit. I would really love a guide on how to break it up with, like guard posts and like different thickness walls and things
great vid man! I agree, i hoping they will add twice as much stuff to work with like better looking walls, beds, ability to customize the roof of the houses ..... personally i really want the ability to scrap/clean more shit off the floors (leaves, bushes, rubble) idk abbout you but i HATE that !
there is sooo much more they can should and better do with settlements too many to name but chang name on settlers boxes and what not as well as paint stuff using paint you find and most importantly along with many others the option to let settlers clean using stuff you find so over time you see cleaner homes with no leafs and over time it slowly comes back making it so you have to keep up on it i can go on and on with ideas
with the stools its the problem that the settlers just sit in one direction on it,and when ur rotating them to not let it look to clean they sit on them facing the other stool
Love yours and Skooled zones content. Also see you play Valheim love to see your builds for inspiration lol. Keep gaming you have a sub(bit late but better late then never lol)
Anyone notice that lighted objects embedded in the wall stop lighting after a few saves? I did almost the same thing with my Juke box as it has an odd shape in the back and it doesn't light up any more, I did the same with Search lights, put them 3/4 into a wall and after a few saves they wouldn't light up any longer.
I had the "Tools" sign pointing to the Cabot family paintings
I know I’m 4 years late but that’s funny
Nice
I haven't touched the character's original home at all. In my mind the Sole Survivor can't bring herself to go back into her old home after everything that's happened.
+apotheos1s I shut mine off... :'-(
+Stephanie Tittle quarantine that bitch
wtf its just a game
Immersion.
Weird! I feel the same way.
Every house needs at least 1 cat painting, without exception
I downloaded a mod that adds Pickman's paintings to the settlement decorations.

"Fuck off Carla." Lolol
+Tanner Tate I laughed so hard when he said that xD
+GeneralDerp Well, we have all wanted to say it at some point!
+Oliver Watts Hell Yeah... they`re always saying "if you want to eat you have to work" and shit like that. I´m like im ownig this place man stfu! xD
I assigned Carla to the vault 88 test bike and made her cycle to her death😂 then build a gym on top of her corpse. I wish I can do the same with the vault Tec guy, but he can't be assigned to anything..
You’ve inspired me to build in a way i never really thought to. Using pre existing structures paired with buildables to give it a truly unique look.
12:29 ROTFLMAO!!
Laughed so hard I woke my neighbors up!
Subbed ;D
+Krubarax hehe I knew the part you meant even before I clicked. Glad you enjoyed :)
Me too so funny...
*starts to cry about dead son*
"fuck off"
Fuck off I don’t care about you’re child!
They could have given us the option to restore a house to pre war condition at a huge cost like 20,000 caps so people wouldn't overdo it.
Actually 210 years
Jon K agree
Jeli ma fish mods brothrr

This is the best Fallout 4 content channel, and really helps me out in every single vídeo!
this is great as I've always had trouble making interior spaces look nice so thank for the tips!
Just been watching your series and MAN it’s so good even 8 years later aha!
I recently started playing F4 again and wanted to make a good Minutemen General play through with good settlements and man your guides have been so helpful!
I loved this video. It definitely highlighted everything I've been doing wrong in Sanctuary (trying too hard to make it pre-war).
I always come to your channel when i run out of inspiration for building, decorating etc., Your doing God's work, keep it up.
Thank you so much for these videos. They are FANTASTIC. I'm still on my first play-through so I didn't want to watch too many videos but I wish I had seen yours. I did exactly what you apparently did the first time through and completely scrapped the inside of my old house. Holy shit you should work in an IKEA
+Rosteez That made me laugh - cheers buddy, life goals and shit :P
norespawns You'd be the designer of a new collection "Äpokålypse"
+Rosteez Hehe :P
+Rosteez He should work at Bethesda and use that "You... Glorious, but very odd bastards." in every meeting where they discuss the game they're making.
xD
+Rosteez More like Äpåkalypse because in swedish Å=O
I just use the Covenant as my settlement, the houses are like in perfect condition, so I just add furniture to them.
Suitcases under beds and stacks of suitcases next to beds with pillows sitting on top are some of the best decorations for interiors I've seen.
You shut the door on crybaby Jun, and I hit subscribe. Great videos dude
You've gained 1500+ subs in a couple of days! Good job man love your vids!
Don't know what's wrong with you. The paintings are just fine.
Paintings suck. If you are trying to survive in the end of the world you're not gonna think "oH LeT mE pLaCe a pICturE oF A cAt hERe."
My favorite thing is that these are done on console. That means they work within console version's limitations. :3
By the way: Microsoft has already partnered with Bethesda to support modding and Sony is following soon with it. So, soon we (PS4 users) will be able to access mods that provide more structures to build with.
Yikes say that again
He just so casually says “fuck off carla” 😭😭
Your videos are great! Despite my bad English and I can't quite understand what you say, your videos have helped me a lot. I learned a lot here!
Starlight Drive-In!!!
I think it's also worth mentioning that you can find items in the world that will be stored as junk when you collect it. You can drop these things and go into workshop mode in your settlement and pick them up and place them wherever you please. I'm surprised norespawn didn't mention that here.
I'm really enjoying your videos you definitely deserve so many more subs keep it up
I literally didn't know you could put containers on shelves like that either, that's good to know! Have a like.
Lackluster, my behind. You're very good and this was very informational as well as a pleasant watch.
Grand video! Helped me out a lot, nice to see some good old British humour on the internet again.
When you shut the door on Jun 😂
+Hangdarkt Jr He knows his place.
you can place the terminal on the desk!
Don´t know if you know already but if you place the terminal on a carpet and move the the carpet afterwards, the terminal will stay on the position and move with the carpet.
the best is that the terminal can be placed inside other objects and the visible parts will stay there.
i wish we could hang are guns on a wall like in the game menu that really hurts me that i cant do that xD
+marcus donlin aye - the lack of weapon racks in this game irks me. Calling it now - they will be in future DLC.
that is gr8 news thanks man :D weapon racks will look so much better than all them picture frames with cats, also keep up the good work man :D
If you have the PC version, you can get a mod for that.
what is the name of the mod? i play on pc
Not me now feeling guilty for always scrapping codsworths box 😭😭
Love the music on the end card
Jesus this channel is goals. I love it.
Does anyone else always end up Living in the Yellow house because that's where the power armor stand is.
great video buddy giving me loads of ideas for my settlement.
I have a weird, maybe specific problem with interior decorating. I like to put small details like wine bottles junk on a lot of the furniture to give it a lived in feel, but whenever I come back, the items literally have sank into the furniture. norespawns Well at least I'm not alone, thank you so much! Also keep making great content!
Same
+Kevin Gesell
I think I may have found a way to make them not sink. Although, it takes more time to place the item. Just pick the item up by yourself. Don't go into build mode to pick it up and place it
+Kevin Gesell If you're on PC and ready to start installing mods try OCDecorator on Nexusmods. It's great to actually clutter the place up a bit and have things stay where you put them! this guy had great observation skill, a bright future in real life..
Thanks for this video I'm tired of my houses looking like shit.......all your videos are a big help for me.........
wonderful video mate super useful in my eyes i would actually like more on like patios and outdoor areas like hangout places you know not houses but like recreation you could say. Other than that great video super chill nice keep it ups

how do u do this explain
I found trashcan Carla dead in one of my sanctuary houses and I was like that explains the pack bahmin
Love the video, and your attitude in general. But I'd like to see you do evil playthroughs just to see how you handle being a total evil monster 😂
I found it useful and liked most of it, Idk about the every room a "tool room" do u mean he uses tools in every room or just to use tool objects because there most likely to be in best condition after the bombs, cant wait for next video. I think it really depends. Tenpenny tower had fancy furniture and paintings but only cause they were all biggot fancy-pants.
I really think it depends on what kind of style you're going for.
My house does, 100%, look straight and clean. 100%. Everything at a right angle, or against the wall, it's just how I am.
cool
Dude. Love your work! Quick question. Iv been trying to place shack foundations on top of sanctuary houses and can't get it right. Do you have a technique/glitch?
Place a 1/4 foundation in the very middle of the roof and have a 1/4 floor line in the middle and snap the shack foundations to the sides.
+David Rogers I'll be making a video for that later and posting tomorrow evening :)
"Oh, by the way, I really like *HUH* the way I've done it aswell.. fuck off Carla" I'm Dying
Finally, someone else that isn't ruthless and leaves Codworths Box and Shawns Crib
I could never bring myself to destroy Codsworth's boxes or Shaun's crib. It's the Survivor's only connection to their family, how cold do you have to be to scrap that??

I would've decorated the home like it was before to "compliment" the lore and pretend he wants it like it was before the war because nostalgia.
Awesome video helped me so much thanks.
happy new year
I agree about the DLC, getting all Picket Fences is great but does not add that much imo...
You're just like me, I don't like having open spaces and having stuff that is too rich looking 😅 but I don't mind painting tbh but that's just me
The Devs need to fix the item clipping issues. Constantly coming back to my house to find all (most) items on the floor or totally clipped thru the ground.
Apparently you can uses a flipping fish basket as a rug glitch thing.
that looks beautiful
1: you should turn up your video volume in whatever editing program you use. I was having a bit of trouble hearing you til I maxed the volume. 2: I would love if you did a simple vid on how to make those builds above the houses. I've tried something like that but it doesn't look at beautiful as yours. Keep up the good work. I'll be critiquing your videos to help you from the point of view of the "sub".
thanks for not puting those anoying intro on your videos, i like your building looks pretty awesome.
Nice vid man.
That house on top of the Sanctuary house would be a grand tutorial. Lets Build #4? ;)
+Lith You are exactly correct - that was my plan for Saturday's video :)
+norespawns Yessss More to look forward too! Love your content man!
+norespawns Brilliant mate, glad to hear it. I'll be redoing my Sanctuary houses now. :)
I don't have fallout, but i was wondering if it might be possible to put the terminal on the desk using the rugs? Again i don't have fallout, and its probably common knowledge, but maybe, very maybe it works? Anyway love your vids, and keep up the awesome work! :)
+Gen_Zirrir Glad you like the vids - the terminal is just a little too low unfortunately, so it looks like it's sunken into the desk.
+norespawns too bad, i have seen people using small wooden platforms to get things (mainly doors) higher, not sure if it would work here, and if a wooden plank under a desk looks good xD
can you do a build guide on like a apartment for the settlers?
I notice you're often annoyed by the brahmin that the traders come into town with - I don't know if you're aware, but there is a structure you can unlock by helping out Bunker Hill. It lets you place down a little station where the wondering traders then set up shop.
The new structure is under Resources > Misc once it's unlocked.
damn now ima tear everything down and make it like this
Do you think you could do a video on how to build good walls?
Thanks for the tutorial.
Great tips on post apocalyptic interior design bud :)
you're great! really enjoy all your vids
I always scrap absolutely everything in the SS's old house EXCEPT for Shaun's Crib. I just never had the guts to.
I learned if you leave a broom settlers will sweep out the leaves. It takes a couple days but the leaves disappear.
Yeah... The leaves just disappear randomly once you get settlers
with the stools its the problem that the settlers just sit in one direction on it,and when ur rotating them to not let it look to clean they sit on them facing the other stool
Nice House
"Fuck off Carla"....lmao I say that every time I'm in Sanctuary!!
Love yours and Skooled zones content. Also see you play Valheim love to see your builds for inspiration lol. Keep gaming you have a sub(bit late but better late then never lol)
In my playthrough, my sole survivor couldnt bare to use his old house. so he built a two story house to the right of the house that has the workshop
My house would look pretty good if I had more recourses XD
Anyone notice that lighted objects embedded in the wall stop lighting after a few saves?
I did almost the same thing with my Juke box as it has an odd shape in the back and it doesn't light up any more, I did the same with Search lights, put them 3/4 into a wall and after a few saves they wouldn't light up any longer.
