So, some people can make their art prints at home with a fancy printer BUT I am way too cheap to buy one of those (I'm selling my art on etsy, but I'm not making THAT much! :p).
I wanted to find a shop that would make awesome prints for super cheap and I was able to find one; however, I want to save you the hassle of going out and finding the shop.
I first went to Staples and their prints were really cheap....but...they were total crap. I'm sure a Staples in another location might not be as bad. But, homie, that was a trainwreck. My blue painting turned into a yellow and brown print. Then on top of that I had to still pay for it LOL like stop.
So then I went to a local print shop that looked pretty legit. They had really detailed and colorful posters on the walls so I thought okay I found my place. Well someone on youtube had said that I could just bring a picture on my phone to the shop and they could print it. So, I told the lady at the front desk that I had a picture of my art. Ya'll, she laughed at me. After her five minute belly laugh she said the picture on my phone was too small for them to print. Instead, I should just take the original to this place called McGee-Cadd Reprographics and Drafting. Like wut.
So, irritated and even more broke, I waddled over to McGee-Cadd and it was the best thing I ever could have done.
McGee-Cadd made digital copies for five bucks, regular prints for a dollar, AND they put my painting on STICKER PAPER for a dollar. I got roughly 18 stickers for a dollar. They constantly give me extra prints and free prints. They are so creative that even if I don't articulate what I want very well, they are able to give me above and beyond what I could ask for. I've had such an awesome experience with them. So if you have a McGee-Cadd in your area, you should definitely just go there first and make your prints!

You definitely havn't been in our print shop 😂😂😂 I mean, it definitely depends on the quality of the photo but most phones nowadays make decent sized photos and if you ensure to have good light, the quality is just fine. I actually did this with my prints, too. Its even easier than working with a scanner...

I went to to Staples...well, yeh..it WAS CRAP !, THEY COULDNT EVEN DO MY COLOURED ONES! I GAVE UP looking for somewheres, I am in N.S canada, so I have more trouble than people in usa. I hope 1 day to find somewhere...its all new and very diff. for me to understand...take care and glad you are getting your prints done now.

Over the years I`ve tried many services, bought my own equipment and experimented with so many products and services - when you find a good service stick with it, but make sure that you give them the right requirements as they often make mistakes and you don't want to get the bill for that - so instead of walking away feeling unhappy barter the price down for the product - a different color still can be used for something and half price or even less is a bonus
That’s a good idea, I totally should have done that with staples. I mean it was laughable haha 😂 I’m at an interesting stage in my graffiti journey because I just recently picked it up again and I’m exploring different products, mediums, and services. Do you have any favorite markers or paint you use??
@@TheKayPitt Hmm yes next time try it - they dont want to just throw it away as they lose - if they make the money the spent back they`ll be happy it`s better than nothing. As for paint and Markers - there are so many to think of but I usually use One Take paint as I was one of the first distributors of that brand but I like Molotow, Loop and Montana Gold with the later being probably my No.1 with Loop being in second place. Marker wise OTR do a good range as do Molotow. Both are very good brands

I just got some Molotow markers and I’m about to try them out on an old sandblasted desk my friend gave me. I think it’s going to be the perfect combo 🙌🏻 also, I’ll be reaching out again because I’m just starting out with spray paint so it’s really exciting to explore it.

Hello!! Thank you for this video!! Did you take you artwork to McGee-Cadd or did they use a picture of your artwork from your cellphone?
Hey! I took my artwork to McGee Cadd. They do their own professional photos of the work and their prints turn out amazing because of it!
Also, as a side note. I’m not sure of a print shop that would make prints based on a photo on the phone. I’ve seen a lot of TH-cam videos about that being a possibility but I haven’t found a shop that would do that for me!

I’m new to this, I did a watercolor that I would love to make cards with it, this was a big help.
Are you giving them the artwork or are you taking a pic and sending a file?

Thanks! It took me a while to get it good 😌 I have a big window to the left of me so that gives me some natural light and I also have a mountdog light box! I’ll link it in another comment. I really like it and it was cheap-ish because I only got one of them 🙌🏻

That’s what I thought too, because I don’t have a whole lot of money to put into my videos, but that has helped a ton. Also the app Focus Live is free and I feel like it makes my videos look better too

Haha! I know right? I’ve been meaning to tell them I made a video about them but every time I go I keep forgetting 🤣 so I have to bring my artwork, which is sort of scary because I don’t want to get it scuffed on the way to the shop. If I figure out a safe way to transport it (other than trash bags haha) I’ll let you know 😋😋

@@lauralintner9481 no problem! Anything to help a fellow artist for sure:) so I normally walk in with my huge canvas and I say can I get an 8.5 x 11 or 12 x 16 print of this? And I also say I want matte finish because I don’t want it to be super glossy. Unless you want that, then just tell them you want a glossy finish:) Also, the print be thicker paper, sort of like a paper book mark:) so it won’t be flimsy haha
How can you ask for prints call yourself an artist and not know about low resolution pictures and rgb and cymk 😅😅😅 all seem to be your errors and not the print studios,
