Kalavantin Durg Trek | How to go to Kalavantin Durg | Most dangerous trek

- Kalavantin Durg is a perfect one-day trek (I Will does not recommend it for beginner trekkers). one can easily reach Kalavantin Durg from Panvel railway station. Kalavantin Durg and Prabalgad and close by so one can complete both the forts in one day. The base village of Kalavantin Durg and Prabalgad is Thakurvadi Village. From Panvel, ST bus, private auto, TumTum, and taxies are available. ST bus has a very poor frequency so I suggest hiring an auto or taxi (Depends on how big is your group or you can find some trekkers on the way who are going to the same location and then you can hire an Auto/taxi. it will cost you Rs 100-150 by an auto/taxi.
from the base village (Thakurvadi) one has to walk from 3-4 Hrs to reach Kalavantin Durg. at the Start, you will have to pay Rs. 50 per person as an Entry frees. Here they will check your bag and Cigarettes, lighter/ matchbox, Alcoholic drinks, Sharp weapons are strictly prohibited.

For a person like me who has fear of height, it seems really difficult. 😂 Although I love the nature. Especially mountains in Maharashtra has the kind of nature that I love the most than any other part of the country. & I will surely take this risk to enjoy the beauty of these mountains once in my life.

It looks worse on camera, trust me. Nothing is ever as steep in person as camera angles make them look.
I'm thinking whoever build those steps they are more adventures skilled people of India 🇮🇳

@@mbsshah1866 Yes when we were freaking out In Abandoned Aravalli Hills, we had to jump a steep rock around 8 feet high on a ramp just one and half feet wide.... a little off balance and u would b on ur penultimate ride in a deep trench just before the final one on Yamraj's Bull

Has anyone ever wondered why the Marathas back then, took so much risk and did this kind of dangerous work of carving stairs in those hills? And its not just Kalavantin. There are so many others. Probably so that they can use these hills as observation towers to warn fellow soldiers and save themselves from being attacked by the foreign forces - British, Mughals, Portuguese and so on.......
This is my guess of course. Plus with no engineering tools available, they had to do all of this manually. Risking their lives. God knows how many people died trying to carve those stairs.
After watching videos like this, I feel really sorry for the kind of hard work they had to do to save themselves from being attacked.
i think this was older than maratha empire..it was build during rashtrakutas

I went there in 2019. It isn't that scary as it looks through selfie stick camera. Because selfie stick increases height of camera and it appears to be very scary. Trust me it's not that difficult as it seem to be through selfie stick camera. If you can climb Sinhagad fort you will easily climb this one too. Jai Bhavani! Jai Shivaji!
