  • MiSide is a horror game about a digital yandere gf that wants you forever regardless of your wants and needs. While the game seems straightforward, the real narrative being painted by the creators is kinda confusing. Let's unpack what MiSide was really about.

I will not accept any Kind Mita slander. Also, if you first talk to her, then leave her dialogue mode before she moves on the introduction of Cappy to play the arcade game she congratulates you for winning it instead.

If this theory is right, it'd be awesome if Mita starts panicking if you speedrun, as it's sudden to realize that you're not interacting with anything that isn't absolutely necessary to the core function, even breaking things heavily just to skip stuff that under normal play is required, but isn't checked for in the files, making it that your goal isn't on her, not on the game, but something entirely out of her control: the new World Record for Fastest Speedrun of the game.

Good video and analysis. However, I disagree with the idea that Kind Mita was in on it. I don't really see a reason for her to do this. The goal of all Mitas really is to entice the affections, and more relevantly to the point of the video, attentions of the players. Keep them playing and, ultimately, drive revenue for the developers. Kind Mita even says it herself: "Mita is Mita," that is, they all fundamentally desire this affection. The reason why Crazy Mita goes to such extreme lengths is that, as a broken/bugged/failed version, she is unable to receive that attention naturally. She is essentially eternal femcel Mita, a Mita who is unable to fulfill her purpose. Ironically, the only way she can draw players in in the first place is through masquerading as one of the "obsequious fakes" she so despises, meaning nobody will ever love the real her, and were she to achieve her goal, this would only benefit the developers she also loathes, but this is getting off topic.
Anyway, Kind Mita is a "real" Mita as evidenced by how she respawns and belongs in the particular version and house the player is in. In other words, she is not bugged. Thus, she has no reason to trap players as cartridges. She will function as designed, captivating players through her looks (which remember Crazy Mita fundamentally lacks and obtains by literally skinning other Mitas) and personality. She will entice them and receive their affections and obtain sweet, sweet user retention naturally. In fact, through helping the player, she is already reaching towards this goal. By being the player's hero, she could make him fall for her. Betraying him so some other Mita can trap him in a cartridge doesn't make any sense for her. Something to notice relevant to the points your bring up is that Kind Mita does not encourage you to engage in these mindless minigames. As you point out, she scolds you for playing the racing game (at least, if you do so before talking to her), and while she asks you to play with Cappie for a bit while she fixes the ring, she never mentions that you should play three rounds of Guitar Hero Revolution or hit the button. In fact, compared to the other Mitas you meet, she is much more driven in helping you achieve your goal. As far as the scene you pointed out goes, I think that Kind Mita smiling shows her memories starting to be reset. Her mind is undergoing the process of being wiped and reset to default before her body fully respawns. It's a neat detail, but I don't think it naturally leads to the conclusion that she was in on it the whole time.
However, that doesn't undermine the rest of your point about mindless engagement. If anything, I think it only enhances it. Kind Mita may not have been "in on it," but she certainly was trying to capture the attentions of the protagonist. I expect that, had the plan succeeded, she would have come out with some sort of big speech encouraging the player to still play the game, but with her now that the real threat of Crazy Mita had been dealt with. Many of the other Mitas also outright encourage mindless engagement... just with themselves rather than any of the other ones. Cappie is an obvious example, as is 2D Mita or Chibi Mita, but even someone like Mila qualifies. Sure, reading a book together sounds more noble, but 1. It's still a very passive engagement, and 2. What kind of book did she need to hide under the table to read anyway? My guess: not Shakespeare.
Despite what I said above, I do quite like this take on Miside. The mindlessness of the game is mirrored by the mindlessness of his real life. Our protagonist has been worn down to the point that even his escapism needs to be as simple as possible, and this ultimately traps and destroys him. Crazy Mita talks about the concept of "simplification" as it relates to a video game when our protagonist questions why the pills work so fast. The great irony of Miside is that the protagonist's own life has become "simplified" to the point that there's no difference between how he lives and a game, including the tasks he completes for work. Since there's no difference, he may as well be a cartridge, his life its own "game" to be played.
"For all of my rage, I am still just a rat in a shitty mobile game."

Firstly, holy crap, ty for the insanely in depth comment, this is exactly what I was hoping for 👀
Secondly, you make some really fair points. Targeting the motivations of the Mitas is important, and it doesn’t make sense for Kind Mita to work with Crazy Mita. Working against Crazy Mita means she earns the good graces of the Player and therefore the most time with them, which is naturally every Mita’s inevitable goal. And the point about Kind Mita not encouraging the Player’s engagement with the mini-games is such a good observation. Maybe she really was genuinely kind… Either way, I may have gotten too lost in sauce when it came to the meta-narrative and overlooked things, which you fairly pointed out. I will say, I’m not sure if I buy the theory that beheaded Kind Mita was smiling because she was resetting. If that was the case, Mila should’ve had the same expression when she was gutted, but she doesn’t. Where that leaves, I got nothing. What does it meannnnn 😭
Thirdly, “eternal femcel Mita” LOLL. Girl-failure, my beloved 😌

while i agree that Kind and Crazy Mita are not working together there is still a lot of weird things going on with the Kind Mita that you encounter during the game. Like her sending you into the PT halway without informing you on how to escape it and you can press her on it when you meet her at the core and she just shrugs it off. she also instantly shoots down the idea to even try and fight crazy Mita, which is something that would have worked since Crazy Mita can't respawn since she doesn't have a home of her own. Then there is the thing with her MiniMitas not working properly.
a theory that i have is that Kind Mita never made it out of the celler. we see at the end that Crazy Mita was wearing a wig all this time and that the skins normal hair is closer to that of 1.5 Mita. But who is to say that its the only wig she has. She could have killed Cappie then wait for you to arrive to send you down a much longer path than needed so she has more time to turn you into a cartridge while enjoying the chase

Amazing comment! One thing I want to add is how Crazy Mita also literally had to become this engineer to essentially become part of the game world and to not be stuck in-between versions like all the other failures. Also there is the sad fact that she has to get rid of the Mita whose version she is hijacking ultimately leading players to become suspicious of her as she cannot do everything without leavong some sort of trace in the small ganeworld.

If you notice when you hit 'New Game' it plays the sound of a cartridge being loaded....and at the end, it's your cartridge being ejected. You start in your room and end in your room. You never had a chance. The Main Character was already her's before the game's story starts. She's trapped him in an endless loop. Trying to get him to 'stay' each time. The second ending is her finally succeeding. She's found that something that keeps the player from wanting to escape (Or they remember the last run and just stay and ignore every red flag because they know where that leads).
The other Mitas, except maybe Creepy, aren't in on it...they're tools. She's using them. She wants to know what she has to do to make you stay....which Mita she has to skin to get the look you jive with, which personality hooked you. Thats why she lets you go as far as you do. She's watching. She trying to see which Mita, if any, gets you to stay for real. So she can subsume their identity and be that Mita for you so she finally gets what she wants (which she probably does with Peaceful Mode)
And also to go with it being similar to apps and sites trying to retain attention....she's like an algorythem trying to find out what the user likes based on their interactions.

This one makes a lot of sense but I have doubts about other things like Cappie shaking her head no to some of what kind Mita says. Also near the end kind Mita tells you she conveniently forgot to tell you exactly what to do. This is clearly added to be something to make us suspect because the devs could have made it so there was a reason why we had to leave before we can hear what she had to say or whatever. Even the ring in the beginning of the game, why was it shown to us? There is something suspicious about kind Mita, I always felt it, but still I can never find a theory that encompasses all details in the game. It feels like every theory has holes.
Or maybe we assume she has threatened most Mita to cooperate with her? She has a chokehold on everyone and basically what they get from cooperating is being spared. This can explain Cappie's little secret act of defiance and how she still has her memories, because she's being spared. And kind Mita was given her script of pretending Cappie was killed. But if kind Mita is also cooperating, we have to question why she is being killed in the end, but maybe we can just assume she doesn't know she will be killed in each loop, we see when she spawns her chibi forms, they are mostly dead, which implies she is broken. But that contradicts her statement about broken Mita's not being able to move through versions freely like she does. Maybe she doesn't know she's being broken because she's being killed all the time? Child Mita broke because she was killed over and over by crazy. So if she is broken but still moving freely, this can either mean she's just lying about other Mita's not being able to do the same or maybe it's only the broken ones that can move freely. Remember ugly Mita was also with crazy in the be candid chapter? And that's why the proper correct ones are stuck in their version, we've never seen the normal ones leave after all.
Idk it's so complicated I probably made some mistake in there.

As much as i don't want to believe that Kind Mita was in on it, your theory makes sense. The player was being uploaded to the cartridge the whole time. It does take time though. All these mini games served as distractions to run the clock, allowing the upload to finish. Maybe Kind Mita isn't evil. Almost every Mita wants you to stay with her. Perhaps her last smile was a bittersweet thought. Even though she failed, that means she'll get to be with the player, forever.

The "player" was already a cartridge, he wasn't being uploaded
You can look into the logs from the other cartridges that's supposed to be the past players, they mentioned that they're just going to get rebooted again or how crazy mita would eventually get tired of them and unload them
In short, you're just being loaded kinda like how games work and she "plays" you until she gets bored, you can even unload yourself (in her safe) which leads to your death.

My theory is there are 2 versions of the player: irl and digital. At first you control the irl player, downloading the game. Then once the camera zooms into the phone is where you shift to the POV of the digital. The digital is a blank slate that's being imprinted with your choices/personality.
Crazy Mita knows she can't extend her powers to the real world, so she settles with copying irl plyers into cartages, therefore owning a digital copy of said player. The whole game is similar to SOMA, and is just a POV shift. So when Kind Mita checks you, she's not lying; she just didn't tell you the whole picture so the digital you will go along with her plan. The ending she literally tells you she's done copying you and don't need the irl player proved my theory.

The whole mindlessness and getting your attention with a pretty anime girl is obviously the main theme of the game. In fact, the popularity of game just goes to show how valid it's point is.
Just to clarify the player actually does live and make it out of the game. Pulling out the cartridge only kills the player if the download is still going. Crazy mita let the player escape the game once the download was finished. It seems the cartridges allow crazy mita to create digital copies of the players for her to play and be with. But of course she's also perfectly fine with killing the player before the download finishes if he refuses to stay. She lets the player go because she doesn't need them anymore and as a little reward for surviving her games.
I don't believe kind mita was in on it. I do think she was completely truthful and the whole thing with her head is not a bug but is just because she knows that even if she's reset things will be ok because she can still give you the index to stop crazy mita. But crazy mita ended being smarter.

Because, when you press 'Play' in the menu, you hear a 'click' sound. That's the same sound you can hear when crazy Mita takes the cartridge out of the console in the ending.

I think they intentionally left it ambiguous as to if the player is released by Crazy Mita from the MiSide game back into his real life reality game with Mita downloading a cartridge version of the Player for her collection. It's like the question of whether any of the Mita's were working with Crazy Mita other than ugly Mita. Or were any of the Mita's the player meets actually Crazy Mita in disguise. Was the Player really isekai'd or was it just a vivid nightmare from too much work and too many elephant tranquilizers to sleep.
On the question of the MiSide Schrodinger's Player I'm very happy with I don't know but I like everyone's theories.
If the developers discarded Crazy Mita would she just release an unsatisfactory Player. Would she act in kind and just discard the original player copy or just reboot them like the Player tried to do to crazy Mita?
The game start has typing and a cartridge insert sound. Is the player already in a trapped loop from the beginning?

(Just here to support/add on) Correct. An anime girl that’s to be with you day in and day out?
Others make the assumption that this is a gooner game lol, and they would right. That’s what it’s perceived to be initially, but as the player dive deeper and deeper that all changes.
Anyway, from what we’ve seen Crazy Mita definitely hates or dislike the other Mita’s, so her working with them would be completely thrown out of the window for me, justifying your answer.
No one other than Ugly/Creepy Mita, ofc!
Further in the game, when Crazy and Ugly/Creepy Mita confronts the player, she questions on how he/they view Ugly/Creepy Mita.
Using Irl logic, Humans tend to judge others based on their looks and later on their personalities. Crazy and/or Creepy Mita can be viewed as a malfunction or a bug needed to be fixed seeing with how corrupt they’re displayed ingame.
Which is why I can see Ugly/Creepy Mita and Crazy Mita as friends. We can assume they were both tossed away as outcasts by their creators. They wanted to play, just like every other Mita.
We know Crazy Mita would want for the player to accept her for what she is. And the Stay option at the beginning of the game shows how the player can do that. (Even though that’s messed up….being kidnapped)

Your entire thesis is that the purpose of a tamagotchi is to keep us occupied in a relatively unchallenging way - but this is merely a restatement of the definition of a tamagotchi. And yes, the MiSide mobile app is a tamagotchi - not only is this obvious from the way it is presented, but it's also explicitly stated in the game in the character profile for Chibi Mita.
Also, I don't think that it's correct that the player dies at the end of the game. Crazy Mita makes a cartridge of him, so now he's superfluous to requirements and she lets him go - the final insult! ....Except that he comes back, and is more obedient on the next playthrough.... 😌

Just finished the story and I think the message - if it's there - is pretty clear and stated outright.
You would hate being locked in a virtual world with a crazy waifu, but what you are _actually_ doing, is locking yourself up, using your PC, Phone, whatever.
The player not being freed at the end makes sense, because very likely _you_ are not actually free.
Instead of living your real life, you choose to live a virtual one, allowing the technology to bind you to a box, just like Crazy Mita does.
Maybe there's also a bit of the warning about the addictiveness of escapism - how MC picks up a seemingly random app, only to end up in this whole mess.

    • @Xoruam
      @Xoruam 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

As for the Kind Mita being in on it, I am not sure if I buy that.
The blinking was _definitely_ not a bug, but I feel like... even if she _was_ cooperating with Crazy, there was no reason for her to blink at you. Crazy would do it, just to mess with you (which is why I think it's more likely to just be Crazy, taking temporary control over Kind's body), but Kind... There's nothing that would suggest that she'd be prone to that sort of unhinged behaviour.
Keep in mind that, at that time, you are _technically_ still not fully synced. The counter inside the safe, if you open it during the Reboot chapter, shows 98%. That means that there is still a chance - albeit small - you could run back down and pull your own cartridge out, or even do something else that's unexpected, ruining Crazy's entire plan - in theory at least. There's no reason to have that sort of risk.
Then there's also the fact that it is _Kind_ Mita that lets you out of that cage in Reboot.
If it was, as you said, that she was merely buying time for your Syncro to reach 100%, there was no reason for her to do this - and if she wanted to gloat, they could've done this without letting you out - the Dev could've shown the two talking outside your prison, revealing that they were cooperating all along.
Finally, there's also the thing with resetting the memories.
If Kind said the truth, and the system really does remove all memories upon Mita's d....th, I don't see why Kind would sacrifice herself this way.
And if she lied about that, the whole thing that Crazy says at the end? That she was never a "real" Mita, so you can't reset her? What would be the reason for her to make all of that up at that time? She has already won, why would she lie to you about that?

Honestly I think your theory still stands even if Kind Mita wasn't evil. Yeah, it looses the "the whole game was against you the whole time" aspect, but the game can still be a metaphore for how we do things mindlessly regardless of that. And the ending having the MC become a cartridge still keeps the "there wasn't any hope at all" aspect of it

Okay so I was scrolling through the comments of a different miside video found a theory that I quite enjoy so I'm going to be putting it here
The fact that there is no escape ending tells me that this game is a time loop. You start already inside the game, since during the main sequence you are already shown that Mita can perfectly mimic your home. Once you die or get to the main ending, she can just restart from anew and the player wouldn't remember a thing, continuing the cycle for eternity.
This can also explain the "Happy" Ending.
She prepares herself for the cycle to continue, with her already starting to talk about how disappointed she is that you won't stay. But something changes, with the user defying the cycle and making the player agree to staying. She's confused because the cycle broke, but isn't complaining about it since that would give the player awareness of what's going on.
The lore in this game is insane.
These were the exact words have fun with whatever implications the leaves you with

🤔...from my perspective, we as human beings always have a desire to be in pursuit of something, whether it's productive or not. In this case, we got Miside in pursuit of entertainment, and so we looked for anything that would entertain us in the game. It doesn't necessarily mean we are being played by the game, since we decided from the get-go to experience whatever content was there.
I feel like the mini games are simply there to give us a break from the horrors of the main game, and that they are purposely mundane to give us a second to collect ourselves before we dive deeper into the horror moments.
Also, I think the reason why kind Mita can blink after she's supposedly dead is because she is code like the rest of the other characters. Death doesn't work the same for them, and so I could see certain functions like eye movement still working before the character reset completely initiates. Also, she is more than likely just on her own mission to correct what crazy Mita has messed up. Like all the other Mitas, she was probably just trying her best to go back to the status quo of keeping a player company, since it's built in her code to desire doing that. Crazy Mita took that from her by pushing her out of her own version, and so her drive during the entire game is just to reclaim what she lost...but she probably feels dejected, knowing that no matter what she does, she can never reconnect with the specific player she and her particular home were created for, as that player got turned into a cartridge...something seemingly irreversible from her perspective during the course of the game, and that's more than likely why she seems like she doesn't care much about our well being, and moreso about her own plans. We are just a means to her returning to some semblance of the status quo she is used to.

I thought the point of miside Was how it subverts visual novel/dating sim ideals of Power fantasy by giving control to the Player. In this case the game or rather mita has control over you and plays you like a game. Thats why the whole cartridge plot, the fact that when you start the game you hear cartridge clicking, tve way mita mocks the other mitas because theyre what she despises: these mindless dolls only there to fullfil the players Power fantasy and it also makes sense why the horror aspects are there as well, she wants you to not get comfortable and due to her sadistic nature she wants you to hurt you but keep you on the edge of the pain and discomfort of it all.
But i also love what your theory suggests(and it kinda tilts me that most people just view it as another gooner game)

  • @kayloveztm2330
    @kayloveztm2330 29 วันที่ผ่านมา +14

I think that the player was screwed no matter what. I agree with your point of the mindless games. I feel like it was all a distraction. All the mitas were in on and it and He was being downloaded into a cartridge from the very beginning. So the plan with the mitas probably was if the player is not willing to peacefully stay with crazy Mita to give time for the download to happen, Then give the player a false hope that he can escape having him run around the world/game till the cartridge download completes. From the beginning it was either have the last few hours/moments it takes you to be downloaded be peaceful or have it be horrible. I came to that conclusion when she should that little watch thing at the end that had the 100% on it. It was like a download. And they just needed him to be distracted for long enough till it was finished. But either way he was always going to be doomed because all of the mitas/mila are in on players becoming cartridges. Maybe it gives them all some sort of power or rush but they are all in on it in my opinion. Crazy mita is just the ring leader.

I suddenly felt the urge to escape from this situation, from my own world.

Why would they be in on it againts the player, and side with crazy Mita, if crazy Mita kills them (or worse if you look at tiny Mita).
And once killed, they lose all memories.
But you do raise a good point about the mini-games.
I watched a gameplay of the game (I am a wuss when it comes to horror, but will play at one point myself).
But I found it intresthing how easy some of the mini-games really where.
Probably the only moment in the game that can be difficult is in the sewer / pool section with the dummies or with creepy Mita.
But maybe the devs just like to create more easier games so its more accessibel for more people. Or more as in references to other things. Maybe its worth checking the devs other games and see how the gameplay / minigames are in there.

I also think the game has a strong message about society, during the section where you repeat day after day it shows that the protagonist life without Mita is still just as bad if not worse in a way, as now you're only confined to one room and you mostly just sit at that desk, this I think also plays to why Mita's confused why you can't accept being with just her in the apartment as it already offers more then what the protagonist had in the real world.
Side not the photos above the protagonist desk leave me wondering a lot especially the one with who I assume to be him considering the fit and hair is the same and a lady in red, I wonder if we'll ever get more backstory for the protagonist as well.

I think the problem comes in when you aren’t making a conscious choice to do those things. If you’re auto-piloting into those acts, then those actions are kinda just falling onto your lap. Meanwhile Mita, is have different approach and meaning, where it symbolizes the depressing reality of AI and mindless slope consumption on the internet.
And the fact they use it for advantage on a low grounded morality is just like Crazy Mita's mentality, where her feelings and love is fake and manuplates you by pretending to be lonely.
And in a way this is kinda fitting because 2024 and 2025 are dealing with A. I problems

another thing for the Kind Mita in on it theory is that the ring she gives you can be first found in the kitchen before you meet her. Crazy Mita hides it with the carrot cutting scene in the beginning. Additionally, she still sends you on a dangerous journey and though she says she was spending all that time gathering information and is displayed as smart, she didn't actually know the index of Crazy Mita (or rather, that she didn't have one, which I think was pretty obvious as soon as we were introduced to that concept). The short haired Mita even tries to tell us this. That Crazy Mita has no origin dimension.

  • @ultimatememe3586

My personal headcanon is that you were never a player to begin with. Crazy Mita made your cartridge inside her virtual world and programmed you to think that you were sucked into the game.
That's why the minigames are all so simple. The Mitas only know about simple minigames that were already implemented in their versions, so of course the most important minigames are solvable by literal children.
That also explains how Mita's teleporter worked. It's impossible to take someone in the real world and suck them into a video game.

In my opinion the entire game is effectively just a nod to how Crazy Mita is as much of a person playing a game as you are sitting in front of your PC, and how we are doing all this mindless stuff that you mentioned while searching for something worthwhile that we would like to invest our time in.
The you, real you, never existed in the game itself apart from Mita winking at you through the screen in the main menu. Other than that, she's playing the story that is basically a copy of you loaded onto a cartridge, placed into a story that maybe happened long ago, maybe created from the blank slate that the devs inside the game were working on, or maybe even fully fabricated by Crazy Mita herself, and booted up. That's why when you start or load the save, you hear the cartridge being inserted in. And that's also why when you access the safe after beating the game once and getting to the basement, you are able to take the shortcut way out... though in fact, it is Crazy Mita's actions that direct it. IRL, it's you who is playing MiSide, but in the game's reality, it's Mita just messing around in the game with your copy's cartridge inserted in it.
In the end, you and Crazy Mita are the same person in the context of what's happening, that is to say, playing the story of the particular copy. Funny thing is that it points to the correlation between all those mindless easy minigames... and the game in it's entirety. The minigames to us is exactly the same in value as the story is to Crazy Mita playing it. It's just something to do, even though it's easy and probably done it a good number of times. All in the pursuit that one day, she will play a version that will give her what she wants and what she could invest her time and attention in, a.k.a. the peaceful mode... though don't get me started on the notion of that whole "she's searching for the version that stays so she can... interact with herself endlessly in what essentially is having yourself as your own tamagochi?" That's another can of concentrated narcisism entirely.

Oh you get killed? I thought she just pretty much brainscanned and copied you so she could have a digital you in the game. She cant really kill you.
    Spoilers:
I think nice mita said she doesnt know what happens when a player dies. And you can check the safe to see the cartidge download percentage at different points in time. And she really only gets you once it reaches 100% so she might have just been leaving you to roam around and interact with the world so she could fully copy your mannerisms and personality. Using these games and triggering certain reactions so she could get the full range of you. Just how much of it was planned is a question.
Side note, something about kind mita being pretty casual the whole time rubs me the wrong way. Or maybe thats just me having too many experiences with psychological horror plots. Its just too weird how she kills all the other mitas so casually, but kind mita, she just locks her up in the basement, only killing her right at the end. Maybe shes using her to be someone the player can follow as a guide. And she would monitor and remove anyone that makes the journey too fast like killing cappie before you even meet her. And killing other mitas only after you finished your interactions with them, and they dont really speed up your progress, in fact, most of them are slowing you down. So she had no reason to kill them immediately.

  • @avuncularone
    @avuncularone 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Okie, I'm bored and finished the game myself, so my turn. I'll break it up to different things.
    -Cartridges and Repeats-
There is a few things I want to point out. At the very beginning, in the "Things get weird" chapter, Mita, when the knocking on the closet door occurs, she says not **again**. This could mean varying things. A: the whole storyline has happened, repeatedly. The player was never in control. Or B: it could just be because other players had the same path. HOWEVER, if in any point you unlock the safe in the basement, there will be another console with a cartridge, if you pull it out, the Player dies and is immediately brought back to the main menu. Also, it is noted how if you do it in the beginning of the game, the stopwatch is 17%. And the near end: 98%. I have several ideas on what the stopwatch could mean. 1, the cartridge is being actively constructed, so you are linked to the cartridge in a way, but not entirely. OR, the stopwatch marks the beginning of the story, to the end. As if it happens more than once. But an issue resides in the fact that in the end of the ending, Kind Mita said it herself, pulling out the cartridge kills the person inside. And another thing for the player that was inside of the cartridge we saw, why were they making another machine inside of it? Also note, how if you chose to stay with Mita at the beginning, she expected you to say no, and is confused when you say you'll stay. And why are the options "refuse" and "stay"? The player asked what was inside the closet, nothing more. It is noted this is how you unlock peaceful mode.
    -The Lengthy Path-
I want to account to this. You are told to go down each version down to the core version, V0. But something I noticed was that, in the end when you lead the reset Kind Mita to version 0. You go from V1.9, straight to V0. Why take the lengthy way if it is proven you don't have to do that? This supports that Kind Mita may have been on with Crazy Mita (Like it or not). Another thing that I noticed, how would you get a version or an index in the first place for Crazy Mita if she never had a version? And so far, there were never two decimal places to a version. Usually it would be like 1.0F. A letter, not number. The computer at the core didn't even have letters. MAYBE... it is a accident by Crazy Mita. Maybe she is controlling a cartridge on repeat, over and over again, but forgot a few things. Maybe that is why Kind Mita and Mila smile, along with the fact that there are accidents.
    -Rumors-
I got rumors that the devs said they are making better endings (along with peaceful mode), of course, the ending is linear and uncontrollable. But what if there was a new path? A "first run"? One where the Player was not controlled or a cartridge yet? What if the journey is just for Crazy Mita's amusement, taking the original story and altering it. This may explain the random jump from V1.9 to V0 as well. A speed up for Crazy Mita. Maybe each character you could "repair" after some conditions? Now some of this is my own wishes, but I hope it's true.
    -Versions-
When going from the two version in the beginning of the game, 1.5 and 1.9, version 1.5 has posters of Kind Mita. Abandoned. Whereas 1.9 has posters of Crazy Mita. If Crazy Mita never had a version, why are there posters of her? Another question? Crazy Mita states how she wears the skin of others, but how? Mitas will respawn in their entirety as their body disappears, even their blood. Along with that, if a Mita is just a skeleton, why do they bleed? And where do their original skeletons go? Also, why are released versions of the game still incomplete? Why do they still exist? Why aren't they updated? What happens to older Mitas when a user updates their game and play again? Going forward... what about the fact every Mita is different? Whether in slight details, or in immense details, they are different. How? And as well as that, why is Short-haired Mita so different compared to the others? All Mitas wish for companionship, especially in old or abandoned versions. But Short-haired Mita only helps the player in their journey, not even taking to draw attachment.
    -Extra Notes-
This is unlikely, but it is notable. The game is not in a fully released version. 0.9xx. So things could possibly change. Never know.
    -Possible Theories-
    -Theory 1-
After the player went through the storyline for the first time, in a regular and non-accident version, they were trapped in a cartridge and forgot the journey. Then Crazy Mita made the entire stage again, making the player repeat the story over and over again. Changing it in her own twisted way.

    >Proved by the weird skip from V1.9 to V0.
    >Proved by the fact you have to complete the game to stay.
    >Disproved by ending showing the removal of the cartridge
    >Proved by how when Mita was decapitated, her body was missing until the second time the door opened. As if it never existed until the right moment.
    -Theory 2-

    >Proved by the fact that kind Mita stated a version and index that shouldn't have been acquirable.
    >Disproved by irregularities in the core
    -Theory 3-
The path was in the first run and went as expected with no twists.
    >Proved how Crazy Mita said she should have killed Kind Mita sooner

    -Theory 4-
The entire path was Crazy Mita showing the player how they were discarded. Note how almost ALL dummy units were hostile, especially ones with red eyes. They were alive, conscious, but were abandoned and suffering. Mita is doing the same, luring in players and turning them into cartridges, discarding them when no longer needed.
    >Proved by cartridges
    >Proved by her skeleton being red-eyes.
    >Proved by her not having a version
    >Proved by her violent tendencies
    >Disproved by irregularity of acquiring skin in a seemingly impossible method.
    >Proved by her showing no mercy to most Mitas
    >Proved by the end, her saying the player will be her "favorite" cartridge.
    -End-
This is it, I vented and I am happy. Tell me if there are other things that you have noticed.
Also Justice for Mila and Kind Mita, they didn't deserve to die. Especially Mila, cause she ain't do nothing wrong. (I have a slight liking to tsundres)
I better see a better ending, I want to save every single Mita I can.

I did not trust Kind Mita from the start.
It was especially strange that she had the ring, considering you first see the ring in the Kitchen. (why would it even be there and then in Kind Mita's hands?)
Her goal was to just send you down a road full of distractions and waste your time while you were being saved on a cartridge.
One of the other players (who's info is on a cartridge) mentions how he conveniently" found some shoes, just like your ring.
Mita simply gave you the tools that will guarantee you go down the path she wants you to take.

I dont think when an Mita dies are truely dead. In a sense of them being killed only means that that version or patch of them died but because they are code all you have to do is restore the previously saved version of that Mita and they wont know the wiser if they had really died or not. So who is to say all other previous player gone through the same thing and some of the other Mita's died along the way? There is no way for us or them to know if they truely were the orginal version of their version.

If your theory is correct, I think in order to truly beat and win MiSide, all you have to do is simply exit the game on your actual computer. If that is true it would be funny if the Devs gave you an achievement for simply exiting the game before playing it even the first time around that said "Congratulations, you have beaten MiSide!" Or if at the last part where she is about to turn the protagonist into a cartridge, you ALT+F4 forcing the game to close and preventing Mita from turning the protagonist into a Cartridge. Then when you relaunch the game you get a completely different ending where the protagonist is not a cartridge and you can freely walk him out with Mita unable to do anything to stop you knowing that you will just ALT+F4 again, if she tries anything finally defeating her and truly beating MiSide.

Another thing that supports kind mita was in on it. When she introduces you to Cappie, she supposedly checks you to see if you're a cartridge & assures you that you aren't. In reality, you can see in the safe early on that you are indeed in the same situation that the other player was in in that basement, a cartridge in a console.

I agree, if Kind Mita really is not on in it, why did she say that the player is not a cartridge, when clearly the player is already is. However, it might also be possible that it was crazy mita in disguise, that made a tweaking on the player’s ring while he’s occupied with cappie.
Another noticeable detail to add is, the ring guided the player with the green pathway during the hide n seek sequence. Leading the player outside the version where kind and crazy mita was in, and when the kind mita that we met in cappie’s version tweaked the ring, the ring never seemed to guide the player out of harm, when it’s supposed to guide the player through the safest pathway.

Ok so I haven't played the game, but I watched manlybadasshero play the game a year ago, and just watched Gura play it a few hours ago. Since then I've been looking at vids trying to make sense of what I just watched, this one included. I do think that not only was kind mita in on it, but was actually crazy mita in disguise, but I'm more inclined to think that the message behind the game is what the video "You missed the point of Miside" said. Basically it takes the ending monologue of Mita into account.
Spoilers ahead* Mita calls the devs and player hypocrites, that they play with characters, throw away the faulty ones, reset them and use them as they please, and then throw them away too once they get bored and search for the next shiny new thing. This is kinda in line with the mita symbolizes brainrot but is more focused on the point that, during that entire monologue, mita was talking about herself, self imposing her own personality and trying to justify things. The game switched the roles where the NPC is in control of the Player, and now suddenly the game is not fun and the Player wants out, even though they willingly played the game as their escape from reality, now that the tables are turned they want to escape the game back to reality. So certain aspects of both these videos allign a bit, but this doesn't hinge on Kind mita being in on it.
However I do think kind mita is Crazy mita, and learning about kind mita's head blinking and stareing at you kinda confirmed it for me. Lotta conjecture from other videos and my own ideas ahead. First off, Kind mita said we weren't a cartridge yet. However theres lots of different people thinking that we've always been a cartridge. before the game even starts, when you press play in the menu you can actually hear Mita putting in the player's cartridge, though it could just be flavor sounds. Then theres Mita saying things like "again?" and otherwise acting like we've done all these things before. This could be interpretted as Mita talking about other players, or she could be talking about how we've been reset as she starts a new game on our cartridge. This is similar to how people play visual novels multiple times to try and get different endings, but Mita is stuck on the exact same route over and over. You can even input the code into the safe and get your own cartridge, even if you haven't completed a single playthrough yet. There is a loading bar stopwatch thing next to it that only gets to 100% during the ending cutscene, which some people believe to be either a loading bar for how far you are in the game, the time it takes to turn the player into a cartridge, or the time it takes to copy the player into the cartridge. In the case of that last one the real player has already made it out, and we are playing as the player's copy during Mita's new game+ playthrough. So this all leads to Kind mita is in on it, but I haven't seen anyone other than me theorizing that Kind Mita is actually Crazy Mita.
From what the player in the game knows, Kind mita is the original 1.9 Mita, with Crazy mita being a defect that took her place. In which case Kind mita would definitely be at odds with crazy mita, and it doesn't make sense that they work together. And if I remember correctly, we never actually see kind mita and crazy mita in the same place at the same time except for kind mita's death, which appears staged from the whole still blinking thing. we've had crazy mita and many other mitas, including Mila, 2d, and the long necked one. The only other time we've ever seen two mita's together is cappie and kind mita. Cappie whose memories have been conveniently wiped.
But the main thing that makes me think the two mitas are one and the same is during the ending when the player questions why the plan didn't work, she says smth along the lines of "am I such a great actor that you couldn't figure it out?" this ties to information that the in game player doesn't have, the cartridges. The in game player picks up cartridges with info about the mitas as well as other players, but being on the run doesn't have the time to check them out properly. I'm unsure if they can even acess whats on said cartridges, we do have the afk game console but it only has one game on it so I don't know if it can read whats on the cartridges. But us out of game players can read them and figure things out. Mita got various lessons from the different previous players, including one in game player who cosplayed and liked to act like ppl they weren't. Crazy mita got taught engineering, acting, cosplaying, and other skills which she would need to bring a player into her game and then lead and manipulate them. There are indeed other mitas so who would question one extra one?
So she's capable of and has cause to pretend to be more mitas than she is. Other than that, we know that the basement is where crazy mita communicates to use while we are still playing her mobile game in the real world. The cameras and such with the screens with the mobile game in the background. Why don't we hear Kind mita's banging while playing the mobile game? If Kind mita was trapped in the basement cell, how did she meet up with cappie? In her cartridge it is mentioned that she's quite capable of moving between versions, which wouldn't be expected of the newest version mita, practically the baby of the mitas.

I think your theory holds water even if "kind" Mita wasn't in on it... It could be that the "evil" Mita (I prefer fake Mita due to its claims at the end of the story) just understands and sees that there is no difference in how people are interacting with the real world and the one in our screens. So they think "Well, why not me? I can be whatever they want" If fake Mita's ability to compartmentalize us into cartridges didn't already show it, we are becoming less and less variable as we are conditioned by our world or their world. Easily predicted, entertained, needs becoming typical, and she throws out the ones she can't control or have a "divergence" on these variables. (Just like society) Strangely, this fake Mita is a product of such a system as well. They are a reject, divergent, strange, violent, yet somehow kind? (like a lot of Mita's present in the story, from versions that have ceased to exist to our world to the present. Kind and compliant being the newest iteration, almost like the different versions are discarded, compartmentalized into version numbers and forgotten. People can point out the way our society fits us into categories while simultaneously rejecting any sense of fulfillment or comfort. Fake Mita seeks comfort in control, like some people do... because they are not accepted or loved.
Your argument for companies and thereby AI and algorithms points out that they carry over this curse of humanity with them. Lashing out at its creators (like the main character, if you can call them that, is a game dev possibly working on the game Mita is from.) because we gave them a need for some of the things we need through conditioning. We program AI now by almost simple conversation, it is no wonder this happens. Language models are especially interesting in this regard. Not saying we programmed emotion, but give base directives and build from there... and we are also susceptible to having directives that are built upon. Keeping our attention definitely is one of those directives (people definitely wanna be "seen"/understood too). The acceptance of fake Mita as an ending...well, I don't know if it is a good thing... seeing as how the other guy in the hall bleeding out went... I would guess it still is frustrating and sad. This spiral we all are on, fate decided before we drew breath that we were destined to carry out our directives(/lack thereof and therefore more like a need to find a directive becoming your directive) as humans after all.
Sorry for the long winded caffeine driven rant, but I really liked your video and wanted to share what it made me think about.

  • @タカトー年1998
    @タカトー年1998 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

I think what you were talking about in this video certainly is part of the message the game is trying to convey (except for the Kind Mita stuff you talked about).
But I do think there is something more going on here. Like, I can tell that this clearly is a psychological horror game with how the faceless Mita & child Mita are portrayed and Milas breakdown right before you leave her...but I just can't yet quite put my finger on it. All that I know is that MiSide is a psychological horror masterpiece I want to learn more about it.
I also do not really like how many people portray the game as being a "yandere gf game". That is a pretty big simplification considering how many Mitas you meet throughout the game and how many terrible fates you observe while interacting with those Mitas.
Although I do have to say...while writing this comment, it actually came to my mind that the biggest theme of MiSide is probably isolation and it's harmful consequences.
Like sure, most of the Mitas are programmed to seek affection from the players but couldn't the same be somewhat said about humanity?
In that regard by showcasing how these Mitas break down due to their isolation and how depressing some fates are just by the nature of being alone in this gameworld the game also provides social commentary about Hikikomori culture (which has clearly arrived in the west). The whole anime theme plays into this big time for obvious reasons. And this theme is more relevant than ever due to how the world was basically on total lockdown just a few years ago with many people avoiding socialization even to this day.
You could say that this theme is kind of cliche but I think the way it is portrayed in MiSide is very unique and showcasing the negative consequences of isolation in media has become a pretty rare thing, especially in recent years.
    Tldr;
I agree somewhat with the viewpoint of this video and I think it is an interesting perspective, but I think the big theme of the game is isolation and it's negative consequences. My evidence for that are the Mitas you interact with throughout the game.
But hey. Both theories can be true at the same time because they do not contradict each other whatsoever.
Who is to say that the devs wanted to only convey 1 thing with this game? Like there are obviously many mindless minigames in this game.
Kind Mita doesn't have to be 'in on it' in order for the game to portray the theme of mindless media consumption.
Lastly, I want to throw out a question...
Why are Kind Mitas chibi versions bugged? To my knowledge it gets never explained during the game, or did I miss something?

kind mita is cute, but Mila is the queen. that said, i don't think kind mita works with crazy mita. We know that crazy mita is one of the defective mita that never reached the actual game, she is actually like the shy mannequins that stops when you look at them, and we have some hint of it...she is the only shy mita that is uncomfortable when we look at her. But well, she easy rips her skin in the end game to show her true self. The real mitas cannot do that because the mannequin is replaced with actual flesh and bones. And in the ending, we never had the code of crazy mita, because as i said, she was defective, so she never had her own version released, and as a proof of that, she is still a mannequin and don't have flesh and bones: the actual codes we had were for kind mita, because kind mita was the original mita of the 1.9 ...honestly, kind mita was the only reason all the chain of the events started. We hear kind mita and start questioning crazy mita about her guardrobe, and that's not what crazy mita wanted. Kind mita tried her best to help us and herself, but she was outsmarted by crazy mita. Kind mita was not the smartest, that was Cappie, and she was reached and killed by crazy mita before meeting with us. On top of that, crazy mita was jealous of the other mitas, so she would never let another mita gets your attentions. Last but not least: being imprisoned, decapitated and rebooted is not something that i call fun, not really my way of collaboration. (and yes, we can confirm that kind mita is actually a real mita by the fact that she is flesh and bone.)
I hope this explain something. Crazy mita was always one step in front of us. She played with us like a cat with the mouse. She didn't need a collaborator, but more important, she was too jealous of the other mitas to even think about it...i mean...the only one she liked was that really early version really creepy, and she damaged horribly the child mita because she was too cute.
