    This video is great, however, the demonstration of the safety vest has the safety vest on backwards. Safety vests are designed to be zipped up the back. The zippers should not be in the front. Additionally, the STAR seat is being called a car seat. There is a difference between a car seat and a STAR seat.

      It depends on the busses ordered for your district. In the district I drive for, there are two chair locations on most of our special needs busses. I have seen as many as four chair positions on one bus, but that is fairly unusual. Our district provides one aide for each special needs route. It varies by state and what state minimums are required. Aides in Ohio are not mandated by ORC, so, it is determined by each district as to what their needs are
      and if your district is willing to add the additional personnel to fill the position.
      Our aides are invaluable!
      The first district I drove for did not have any aides so the driver was entirely responsible for securing the students and transporting.
      In addition to the wheelchair seating locations, there is additional seating for ambulatory students as well.
      I think that it what you were asking.

    Some of the buzzers on my bus Sound even when the exits are not open there was actually a time not long ago where it would just continually sound and the one time when the driver hit the brakes to let someone off it was sounding the longest.

      @SchoolBusSass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a malfunction in wiring. I had an issue with one of my emergency exits this year. The whole window had to be exchanged. Now it works perfectly.

    Can You Do A How To Install A Back Up Alarm For A School Bus?

    Why Do The Exits Have The Buzzer/Alarms?

    • @SchoolBusSass
      @SchoolBusSass  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question, and thanks for asking!
      The alarms exist so the driver is made aware of when any of those exits are open. When there were no alarms, particularly on the rear door, it was relatively easy for passengers to exit through the back of the bus without the driver realizing it had happened. Yes, I realize...i just dated myself. I remember a time when passengers...classmates would bumper ski behind the bus...yikes!
      Makes me cringe now!

    15:08 Why did that small alarm thing go off?

    • @SchoolBusSass
      @SchoolBusSass  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Weight activates the alarm sound, indicating something or someone is close to the edge of the lift and the lift is not level with the opening of the door.

    With 7 wheelchairs and 4 walk on, this is not feasible in a fire or any other fast moving emergency. Its a disaster waiting to happen.

    • @SchoolBusSass
      @SchoolBusSass  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Which is why each special needs driver and aide need to develop a plan which will work for them and their students.
