Mashallah. This information has opened my eyes. Jazakallahu khairan. And i corrected my mistake and paid the zakath after 9 years. I am very very happy and satisfied, Allah is great and he will guide us in right path as he wishes. Alhamdulillah.

    Very good and proper answer
I wanted to know to if someone got property but not good enough income to pay zakat every year so when ever you sell that land
You must pay zakat on all those previous years .

Salaam alykm, what if the initial purpose of the land is for residential and the owner wasn't able to build atop the land till it was sold, what or how can the owner pay Zakat?

Assalamualaikum you don't need to pay Zakat on Land you don't intend to sell it.
      Praise be to Allaah.
When a person buys land, one of three scenarios must apply:
1 - That which is intended for living on. This is not subject to zakaah, because it is not for trade or business.
2 - He buys the land with the aim of selling it and seeking to make a profit from it. This comes under the heading of trade goods if one full (hijri) year passes. Then he should see how much it is worth when the year has passed, and pay one quarter of one tenth of its value at the time when the year has passed.
3 - When he wants the land that he buys as an investment, so that he can develop it by building shops or apartment buildings to rent them out. No zakaah is due on the land itself, rather zakaah is due on its revenue. If he receives in rent money that passes the nisaab (minimum threshold), and one year has passed since the rental contract was drawn up, then he must pay zakaah on it. End quote.
      Al-Muntaqa min Fataawa al-Fawzaan (2/309).
      Lastly:
If you bough the land from loan based on Riba, you have committed a Major sin, repay the loan immediately and seek repentance from Allah.
      Allah knows the best.

If my parental land selling and I got the amount as share. Can I have to pay zakat on that total amount. That money we kept for using other purpose i.e purchasing our flat adding the additional amount with that amount. Please clarify.

i cant agree on this fathwa... it should be when till the time when sell that land. just imagine if the person bought that with some intension but it didnt sold out.. but he dont have money to give zakat. in that case from where he will pay the zakath?

This is not right Allahu’alim. Anyone with say a 10 year investment plan would lose 1/4 of the value of his property this is not what I read from the scholars.

And when you sell it, say after a year for 15lakhs, then you must pay zakath only for the remaining benefit that you acquired which is 5 lakhs. so you will have to pay zakath again only for 5 Lakhs which is 12500 rupees. May Allah show us the guidance and Allah knows best...

@Mos, i do agree that Zakir naik is good at comparative relegion. But the way he is giving this fatwa, it looks like he has no proper knowledge on zakath matter. Whatever he claims has no proof. We must pay zakath for every property for just one time to make it clean. Not pay every year as he is claiming. For eg, if you buy a property today for 10 Lakhs, then you must take zakath for the present value which is 25000. and you dont have to pay for this land again until you sell it again.
