    I grew up in the Music World and this area. First met and saw The Doors when they were the house band at the Whisky. Hollywood was so much better then it is now, miss those Days!

      The 70s were fun too! Then when the David Bowie scene came about, it went to hell big time. Never to be the same again.

      I kiss the ground you walk on! I would utterly have loved to have seen The Doors at the Whisky when they first started. I hope you can always hold those memories clearly in your heart and let them nourish you.

    Jim Morrison is unforgettable. Everywhere he stayed and travelled has become enchanted. In those far-off days he could never have imagined that legend he became as he breathed his last on a sultry night in Paris half a century ago

    Man, Laurel Canyon was cranking in the 60s. Packed with music artists and totally happening. The Sunset Strip was the place to be with all the great clubs: Whiskey-A-Go-Go, The Palomino, Gazarri's, and the Capitol Records building. Now that part of Sunset Blvd is a ghost town because the Capitol Records building sits empty. So sad...

    I have been to the house. The whole area is still the same as it was in the 1960s. What a shame that some moron had to set Jim's house on fire. Just stupid.

  • @danielesbordone1871
    @danielesbordone1871 6 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    Sorry man , but your story is incorrect. Although many people believe the store on Laurel Canyon to be "Love Street" , it isn't. The store that Jim refers to "where the creatures meet" is the clothing store he bought for Pamela. She used to throw wild drug-fueled parties inside , even on weekends. The store was used for everything , but a business.

    I wonder if the guy that met him asked Jim about his dad, Admiral George Stephen Morrison and his starting of the Vietnam War? I always found it strange that they decommissioned that ship the same day Jim died. July 3, 1971 Strange

    Notice the reporter says, "the Mazda Miata that got set on fire..." not "that caught fire". This presumes arson. I wonder what the fire investigators ultimately found -- especially as someone greatly indignant that Jim and Pam's former Love Street love nest was scorched in such a seemingly senseless (though not random?) fashion.

    My guess is that Jim bought this place to make Pam happy. I don't get the Morrison vibe here at all, and I would be surprised to find out Jim wrote any of his best works here.

    • @Airbaja
      @Airbaja  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Well, good guess but, no cigar..Jim rented an Apt. there in 1966, before they "made it big" ie; "Light my Fire", he wrote 'Love Street' and 'Hello I love you' from their balcony there. It was close to the 'Strip' where there was work for bands, Whisky-A-Go Go, London Fog, Gazarries, Troubadour, etc.

    The building wasn't like this when Morrison stayed there it was a run down boarding house and they used the top floor. The version that burned had been upgraded since the 70's, now they've rebuilt it again so its a 3rd incarnation...

      I have some good news for you, a developer who does know bought the building and is looking to retrofit it converting the inside. They let the Doors use the build for the Jan. 4th 2020 Day of the Doors. Here is one of three films I made while attending. As you can see the redid the front so we could duplicate the iconic photo for ourselves, check it out?! If you dig the Doors, I've got another 1088 vids on Airbaja.

    Would love to see what it looked like when Pam&Jim lived there. I know it wasn't all dreadfully boring brown like that if it was HER home. That woman loved color. And when they did the reno after the fire they changed the façade entirely-no more wood! Sacrilege.
