    I drive the Embraer as well and have found that the black plastic clips that come on my headset cord will actually clamp in place in the vent holes where you’ve attached your carabiner

    I totally agree with your review of the Bose Pro Flight Headset. Bose has always been known for the audio quality in their speakers and I am sure it carries over to their headset! For a Commercial Pilot, it might be more comfortable than the headsets Sky West furnishes you guys. It seems like it is pretty easy to swap them out in the cockpit. You did an awesome review. I think Bose should consider making you their Commercial Pilot Representative !

      @@AviatorMark Okay good to know. It's interesting some people say the Clarity Aloft is on par and others don't find it nearly as good when it comes to noise reduction. Not a clear consensus, I may just have to try it and see how it goes. Thank you for your reply! 🙏

    Quite a few pilots at my airline HAD these and returned them. They were constantly missing radio calls or they'd transmit and nothing would be transmitted.

    Hey, how are you arranging to operate a camera drone during airport operations?

    • @AviatorMark
      @AviatorMark  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew Tubbiolo It must be approved by the airport management. Most likely you will not get approved unless you know both the airport management and pilots flying at the time very well. Best of luck on getting whatever footage you’re going for. Please do not try it without proper approval and even then caution is necessary. Hope that helps.

    Liking mine. You mention software updates to fix a few issues like the talk through. I don’t think you can update them. I’ve connected to the app and it says the headset doesn’t have a feature that allows you to upgrade.

    • @AviatorMark
      @AviatorMark  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EzyRambo The little micro usb plug in and the empty spots by the battery is for things to come. It is where supposedly these options will come available for things they dream up in the future and software updates. This is what one of the design engineers told me.

    • @Rambo9700
      @Rambo9700 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Siegwart Aviator did they give us a cable? I don’t recall seeing one in mine, guess I have to dig one out from somewhere. That’s interesting to know. Do you have a link for firmware updates? 👍🏻

    • @AviatorMark

    • @davidredwine5715
      @davidredwine5715 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Siegwart Aviator this is the only thing holding me back from purchasing. If the tap through doesn’t work or fails at V1, it negates the utility of the headset for me. We don’t have hot mic and on long flights the other guy uses the boom mic. I can usually still hear conversation with a sure fire ear plug in one ear, and headset on other ear for radio calls, but wanted the noise cancelling for long-term hearing preservation. If Bose can’t fix this inside of several months, I’m going with something else.

    Great review I lost the rubber loop thing on my last 4 day trip wish I would of put that in as a negative when I talked about it on my youtube video...would you go back to the A20 over the proflight? I fly the 145 I didnt notice the noise cancelling going in and out during takeoff and landing but Ill look out for that as well

    • @AviatorMark
      @AviatorMark  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I would email them and I betcha they will send you a new one for free. I actually really like the new ProFlight so although I'll still keep my A20s for the piston flying I am certainly going to use my new ones as much as possible. It is only the tap feature I had an issue with. Is yours enabled? If so, then hopefully the issue I had is an isolated one.

    Side note: I am going to get the Clarity Aloft w/Bluetooth capability myself. Hope it exceeds my expectations.

    How do you find the Mic? I have the white dot pointed to my mouth but my First Officers say they can barely hear me when I make a radio transmission. I also tried to use the PA when the cabin was empty, and I couldn’t really hear myself on the PA. on the intercom it seems to work but they have the volume up very high to hear me.
    Is my headset defective? Sometimes I can hear myself and get feedback when talking on the intercom but find it hit and miss.

    • @AviatorMark
      @AviatorMark  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It must be defective. I have not had any of those issues. I have only had one person mention me being quite but when I adjusted the mic closer I have not had any other issues.

    I noticed this was posted back in August...Since you are also a CFI, have you had the opportunity to use this headset with smaller single prop aircraft's yet? And if so, how well did it do?(As good as the A20?) I own a Comanche 260 and I just Love the Bose A20, in fact I have 3 sets now. I was going to purchase another A20 to complete the 4 place in my aircraft, however I thought I'd love to try this new ProFlight Headset, if they work well for the louder single prop experiences..? Also, does your contact with Bose think they will rectify any of the issues that you had mentioned? (In other words, should I wait to purchase this set, to allow for them to "get the bugs worked out") Thank you, Love your videos! :)

    • @AviatorMark
      @AviatorMark  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Private Pilot Life Thanks for watching and I hope to upload some more good footage soon. I think it is a really great headset. Actually, over thanksgiving I used it in a C152 because my sister used my A20s when we went flying. They did good but if I’m 100% honest it’s still hard to beat the A20s for the little planes. That being said since you already have a few A20s getting a set of ProFlights wouldn’t be a bad idea. The ProFlights are so much better on the head for those long long flights. Just wore mine over 7 hrs yesterday and never had discomfort. As awesome as the A20s are I don’t want them on my head for more than a few hours at a time. The ProFlight will let a little more sound in with the little planes because it’s an in ear piece but the noise canceling is so good you can barely notice. That’s just my thoughts, anyway. As far as the bugs I think that any issues you have Bose will back their product so you’re fine.

    • @privatepilotlife1770
      @privatepilotlife1770 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok great! Thanks sooo much for your opinion... I think I'll move forward with my purchase...Since, I usually only have 1 or 2 people in my plane at any given time, I always have the choice of the A20... Not to mention that if I am completely dissatisfied, I can return them within 30 days... I, like you, love everything BOSE...Therefore, I look forward to the new set...Thanks again... :)

    No point! Disadvantage of the arch headset and the in ear phones all in one product! They should do this with no arch at all! Just ear plugs and mic with a box in the wires taking care of the electronics noise canceling BT,... I don’t want arch headsets anymore!

    I have seen very mixed feedback on this headset , I can say that 3 people dislike it for every 1 that likes it. I just think Bose should have perfected more , cable is way to thick , bulky . In fact I can’t image why the engineers would ever design that kinda of cable. It makes zero sense for a light headset like this. It’s not easy to put back in the case , at least it’s not very well designed . I agree they should have went with a light speed Kevlar type cable ANR is good most people use high setting even for a jet, quieter aircraft . That’s the way they designed it for mainly jets, whiter turbo props. The double tap seems to not work 100% another problem. In ear is always either love or hate for most. Im not a fan of in EAR , I have tried they get dirty , don’t fit perfect every time, actually gets uncomfortable on longer flights. That’s just my personal view. If this didn’t have all the cons , I would definitely purchase it , or try it for awhile. Ratings are in the reviews , they missed the mark.

      Caleb Niederhofer You make some good points but overall I still think it’s a good headset.

      I've been using the Clarity Aloft for over a decade. Actually around 15 years. Last 4 years on a HEAVY jet. on the heavy I've actually got my ClarityAloft cable cut in two during preflight preparation - the headset fell on the floor while I was getting out of my seat and when I moved the seat back on it's rails the cable got caught in the rails since it's so small and delicate and was easily sheared. If the cable would have been thicker and heavier duty this would have never happened. So ClarityAloft sent me a new cable and I replaced it myself, not before I sleeved it with a paracord shell which kept it slim and light but strong and protected. Ever since didn't have any issues with it and I didn't have to be so gentle with it.
      Overall I wish ClarityAloft would have had a more heavy duty cable and it does seem that the ProFlight headset's cable is TOO thick and heavy. I would expect somewhere in the middle, but rather have a too heavy duty over a too light duty for the harsh environment of a cockpit.
      Thanks for the review and I'm looking forward for your review of the Series 2 that should be coming out soon. I might purchase it too...
      BTW could you please compare the dimensions of the ClarityAloft case vs. the ProFlight case? That is another major consideration..

    • @AviatorMark
      @AviatorMark  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheWoodWorkingPilot Thanks for the feedback. The cases are nearly the same exact size. The Bose takes a little more work to get it in the case but once in they’re the same size.

    • @calebniederhofer678
      @calebniederhofer678 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Siegwart Aviator Yes the Zulu 3 is heavier a little over 14oz vs 12 on the A20. It’s all person preference. Here are my reasons why the Zulu 3 is better in my opinion.
      Far superior build quality. The Bose uses almost al plastic , while lightspeed used magnesium . The ear cups on the Zulu 3 are over 20% larger , so your ears don’t touch the cups. It does not bother some people , but others like myself i notice after about a hr keep adjust the headset. 7 year warranty vs 5 on the Bose. The a20 does seem to have better ANR , but not my much. On a 1-10 the Bose is a 9 , the Zulu would be like a 7.5 . So yes the Bose has better ANR , maybe a tiny bit better sound quality . The overall headset as far as comfort , built quality , warranty is lightspeed. The one thing I hate about the Zulu is it’s not TSO approved. I do think people really get caught up in the Bose name , thinking it’s amazing quality. It’s not , ANR is awesome though , and the mic can be reversed , TSO if you must have it. that’s about the only pros I see to the light speed.
