    Thank you for these videos. They are extremely helpful. I am making tunics for my nephews and then weaving belts. They will be making pouches for treasures we find while exploring.

    The piece around the inside of the neck opening is a "facing". The diamonds in the armpits are "gussets." Your tunics and dresses are very nice. I'm feeling very inspired to do some sewing.

      Thank you! Sometimes the words escape me as in not a native speaker and these are pretty specific. Let me know if you are ever in need for the Dutch words :) and I hope you enjoy starting sewing project!!

      What's a yoke then?

    • @SigneofHorses
      @SigneofHorses  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question and I had an incling but I looked it up: A yoke is a shaped pattern piece that forms part of a garment, usually fitting around the neck and shoulders or around the hips to provide support for looser parts of the garment, such as a gathered skirt or the body of a shirt. Yoke construction was first seen in the 19th century.
      Think cowboy shirts and such. So I think if it’s and outer part of the neckline and decorative instead of a facing that is on the inside we can get away with calling it a yoke.

    I’m looking to make an over tunic. I like the way you put the extra gore in the back. Thanks for sharing!

      Signe of Horses I will. I went to the thrift store last week and found a beautiful 1970’s long wool coat that I’m going to pull apart to use the fabric for my over tunic.

      When I was younger it was all I could do to find clothes that met my style and size. Now I just love seeing a stack of fabric turn into a wearable thing. I do find Im lacking the time these days but I still love it!

    Ooh I like your hair down like that! Also like that tunic! Thanks for sharing how you did it! I’m a bright color person, would that work for Vikings? 😂😝

    • @SigneofHorses
      @SigneofHorses  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, look at Anne the Archer on Instagram she is all about bright colours as well. Im more of a muted viking though I do have one or two bright red pieces and I love my blue trousers..
