Johns first solo efforts were marred by Yoko's influence, so I don't imagine George or Paul were praising his work either. Saying that he was no good after the breakup depends on your perspective…if exploring musical boundaries without caring about commercial consequences if your thing…then he smashed it. He had a bit of this and a bit of that…a freedom that most artists would never have or even dare…. Can never doubt the man was an interesting individual. In relation to The Beatles he provided the edge, Paul the commonsense, George the spiritual and Ringo the good times…when they split they all lost out on those extra ingredients that made the group magic.

John said they were both egomaniacs but also admitted that they (Paul and he) were both fu##ing brilliant songwriters (on a TH-cam interview). George Martin once said that he felt John wished he was as musical as Paul and that Paul would have liked to have been as lyrical as John. He ( Martin) didn't say much about Harrison, except that he was a " late bloomer." George Martin fed into John & Paul's egos.

Baby brother Georgie made something neither of them could: An album that was on the level or even superior to most Beatles albums. They did some very good albums, specially John, but George started his career achieving Greatness with ATMP and Concert for Bangladesh. Today, younger generations pick Harrisongs among the most listened and favourite from the band.
It's funny but of all the Beatles I find Paul to have been the most talented, then George then John then Ringo. And that is a generalization. John was a great rhythm guitar player, exceptional songwriter, amazing vocalist but Georgian Paul had the same qualities too. And they were all top in their individual fields regarding their instruments. And I'm pretty sure if they were alive today they would all be hanging out together again maybe even have regrouped.

Lennon’s solo work was excellent. Songs like “Isolation,” “Hold On”, and “Imagine” tell you everything you need to know about Lennon’s song writing abilities. I really can’t say the same about solo McCartney.

I think JOhn love his band mates and i think there was no bad comments about this from John . john was like heusually used playing words thats why most people hated him or not they get what he mean like what he said Beatles was most popular than Jesus. John could be such a MAJOR Asshole! He was obviously jealous (Which he even sings about on one of his own albums). Apparently he never heard the phrase, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!" I still love John, but he had no problem hurting the feelings of every person he encountered - especially the people who loved him the most - which says more about HIM than it does the other people.
Considering what they accomplished together, it is a tragic comment.
I don't know what to say. He probably had weird taste. I wouldn't Rubbish Paul though. But those days it must have being hard. Somebody said it by the end of the Beatles, we see 4 accomplished musicians and individuals outdo each other. They were magic together. Lennon’s solo work was excellent. Songs like “Isolation,” “Hold On”, and “Imagine” tell you everything you need to know about Lennon’s song writing abilities. I really can’t say the same about solo McCartney.

@@alicat7281 RAM is an excellent album, full of great compositions. McCartney is brilliant here as a romantic lyricist. Plastic Ono Band is good too, but not completely. The lyrics are good, although simple, but filled with deep meaning.
