Funny you should mention Finland, Lovebite's sends their songs to Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila in Finland for mixing and mastering. They do this to get a "European sound". Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics. They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level. This is one of their typical first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist, and some of their songs feature her on the piano. Enjoying your reactions, Bobby! The Lovebites fans have provided a lot of info about the band below. I believe that the members are all around 30 years old. Miyako (dark haired guitarist) is a classically trained pianist as well and takes a lot of inspiration from musicIans such as Rachmaninoff & Chopin. She is also definitely influenced by Gary Moore. Blond haired guitarist Midori has said she is influenced by Kiko Loureiro, Nuno Bettencourt and Yngwie Malmsteen. Given your IM tshirt, you might be interested in another all female Japanese band called Nemophila. I mentioned Judas Priest and Iron Maiden mainly because I listened to them a lot when I was growing up. Two of my own biggest influences. I also later got heavily into early Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth as well as pretty much everything Pantera. When I did this reaction I just happened to be wearing an Iron Maiden shirt. It was in no way planned. As a matter of fact there are two more of my reaction videos I recorded on the same evening with the same shirt. I had a little bit of an idea LoveBites was influenced by Iron Maiden just by reading some comments on my first Band-Maid reaction. I swear that's not why I wore the shirt though. 🤣🤣🤣

I love all those great bands, grew up listening to Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera among others, but i feel these ladies are on another level. Lovebites are world class musicians with excellent songwriting skills. You will see that as you discover more of their songs. Band Maid is also another fantastic band, they are more on the HardRock/punk/pop side of things, i actually discovered both Lovebites and Band Maid on the same day last year, both bands make up like 80% of my playlist these days, its crazy how good both these bands are in their respective genres. Fun fact: The drummers from both bands are friends! 😀

Absolutely. Lovebites songwriting is "consistently" on a higher level than everyone else. Galneryus is another Japanese band that is right up there with Lovebites. ( My two favorite metal bands from Japan. )
If you compare Miho to Steve Harris you are going to make her really happy. She is the founder of the band. I recommend you to check *Edge of the World* next from them. Also try *Rondo of Nightmare* from Babymetal, Pa Pa Ya is probably not best option for you on their repertory, that's the most commercial stuff they do to sell discs.

I enjoyed your reaction brother. I think that they are issuing all baby girls in Japan drumsticks and guitar picks at birth. :) Midori, the guitarist on screen left plays ESP guitars. Miyako, on the right, plays Deans except for a beautiful Les Paul she uses for a few songs. Prior to covid they were touring in Europe with Dragon Force and performed at 2 Music festivals. Miyako (black hair, guitar) is the primary composer and Asamsi (singer) with Miho write the lyrics. Funny you should mention Finland, Lovebite's sends their songs to Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila in Finland for mixing and mastering. They do this to get a "European sound". For your next Lovebites, I recommend Swan Song, metal but different.

Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. They were formed from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief metalhead and soul of the band) recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuke”); they went and found the two guitarists, Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands, and the whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time. Miho and Miyako compose most of their music, in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer, but Midori has also been getting into the act. Asami writes a lot of the lyrics.
They have only been around for just shy of 5 years. They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Slayer etc. and they pretty much aced it all. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and it seems clear they’re taking it to another level.
This is one of their typical first songs for reactors, and rightly so--you get a good sense of the band. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash, and almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel. Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. (As another reactor said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band.") Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist, and some of their songs feature her on the piano.

Enjoying your reactions, Bobby! The Lovebites fans have provided a lot of info about the band below. I believe that the members are all around 30 years old. Miyako (dark haired guitarist) is a classically trained pianist as well and takes a lot of inspiration from musicIans such as Rachmaninoff & Chopin. She is also definitely influenced by Gary Moore. Blond haired guitarist Midori has said she is influenced by Kiko Loureiro, Nuno Bettencourt and Yngwie Malmsteen.
Given your IM tshirt, you might be interested in another all female Japanese band called Nemophila. First, the bass player Miho, her hero IS Steve Harris and her favorite band is of course Iron Maiden! She is the leader of the band created together with the drummer Haruna.
Second, when you mention Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, those are two of their biggest influences for the band along with Metallica, Slayer, Helloween, Pantera etc.
Miyako and Midori on the guitars are world class musicians, as is the whole band. Drummer Haruna is the Goddess of double bass Thunder! she is THE BEST! 😀

I mentioned Judas Priest and Iron Maiden mainly because I listened to them a lot when I was growing up. Two of my own biggest influences. I also later got heavily into early Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth as well as pretty much everything Pantera. When I did this reaction I just happened to be wearing an Iron Maiden shirt. It was in no way planned. As a matter of fact there are two more of my reaction videos I recorded on the same evening with the same shirt. I had a little bit of an idea LoveBites was influenced by Iron Maiden just by reading some comments on my first Band-Maid reaction. I swear that's not why I wore the shirt though. 🤣🤣🤣

I love all those great bands, grew up listening to Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera among others, but i feel these ladies are on another level. Lovebites are world class musicians with excellent songwriting skills. You will see that as you discover more of their songs.
Band Maid is also another fantastic band, they are more on the HardRock/punk/pop side of things, i actually discovered both Lovebites and Band Maid on the same day last year, both bands make up like 80% of my playlist these days, its crazy how good both these bands are in their respective genres.

I recommend you to check *Edge of the World* next from them. Also try *Rondo of Nightmare* from Babymetal, Pa Pa Ya is probably not best option for you on their repertory, that's the most commercial stuff they do to sell discs.

As for the double leads, I saw Tipton and Downing more than once live on stage and didn't think I'd ever see it done as well. Miyako(Dean) and Midori(Esp) do it as well as they ever did.
