The cybermen have to be my all time favourite doctor who villain. The history, the Lore, the horror, the design (which can be said to be so very human) the way we are very much likely to be heading in that direction. I cant find the words to describe how much I love them, in all verities. Plus there is also the tragedy of them. Trying to find a way to survive only to become one of the most feared species in the universe.
I think they should use the Mondasian cybermen again. They work so well in every story they’re in They could work in an adult oriented spin off, really show the horror of them in full detail
The horror aspect of the Cybermen really is something else with so much potential too. I always thought the concept of them is definitely darker than most things in Doctor Who. Love the Mondasian design it really just screams mangled human forced into tech rather than a clean machine that some designs showcase themselves as
I agree. The Torchwood story "Cyberwoman" was gory in parts, but she wasn't scary. In fact, designed to be sexy, more like a cross between Wonder Woman and a Borg. A really dark, adult version wouldn't have had exposed midriff, and lipstick! Wasted on me as a gay man... The original Mondasian creatures with minor tweaks (less of the accordion on the chest, head light modified) could again bring back the horror of what they really are.
The Cybermen as created by Kit Pedlar and Gerry Davies had a simple origin. They were humanoids who replaced failing body parts with technology, eventually even replacing parts of the brain. I was terrified by them, especially when they spoke, no mouth or opening, just a gaping mouth under the cloth, no lip movements (no lips). Since then, the story has become so convoluted it seems impossible to follow. Though here we see a valiant and quite successful attempt to make sense of it. Thankfully, we only had two conflicting versions of the creation of the Daleks - both by Terry Nation (and I have always loved both equally)
A huge thank you to everyone who watched this video as it premiered seeing your LIVE thoughts and reactions was epic! Let me know what you think of the video everyone and of course what you'd like to see next? 😁😁
One thing I never got about the cybermen is that they always have the same design. Parallel is a great way of explaining how the Mondays cybermen and the cybus cybermen exist but I never got how the helmet designs are shared.
my earliest or first memory of Cybermen coincided with my first Dr Who scene occurring in a utilitarian location on earth. i remember them emerging from a drainage manhole in a suburban street. i was amazed to see the backdrop of British 1950s semi detached homes .
Although this is an older video I wanted to comment anyway. Although I love sci-fi I never really connected with Doctor Who. Even though it's a massive part of the show I never enjoyed the campy tone. I grew up mostly with McCoy and Baker's Who. What I do actually like is some of the lore around the show, the Cybermen, Dalek, Silurians and Sontarans have some amazing lore. I've probably watched more videos like this exploring the lore than actual episodes. Nice video.
The Cybermen are my alltime favourite villains they are more interesting and awesome, than the Daleks and I can see our race becoming Cybermen in the future when people who are converted into Cybermen they not only lose their emotions but also their whole identity and the memory of the people they once were and also they lose the memory of their families and relatives and friends been made of steel and plastic thus means they are not susceptible to injuries that humans and humanoids sustain plus they cannot get illnesses like the humans get and their mechanical bodies never get old and tired neither do they need to eat, drink or rest like humans do.
The Cybermen are always great, but I feel that they're often overshadowed. They had to share their invasion of Earth in 2006 with the Daleks, they were part of the Master's plans during Capaldi's era, and overall they just never seem to be given the same feeling of "oh no it's these guys" that villains like the Daleks get given 🤔
Yeahhhh I think the Cybermen definitely have potential for great stories! I know the comics and audios have handled the Cybermen well for a long time now from Kroton's adventures to Spare Parts
I think it would have been cooler if the Lizard Kings and Mondasian Sea Devils were created by the Mondasians for food as a reverse of what happened on Earth.
Interesting concept who knows maybe not in the Doctor's universe or Pete's world but one parralel universe could have those events and that would really be a crazy thing to see 😅
The timeless child second part shouldve been about the cybermen betraying the master and sending the cyberium into the time vortex like a virus leading to the parrelel eveloution
Ooooo that's an excellent question! Once the full story has been revealed in all the issues I''ll have a better idea of where it fits! What I know so far is the story is set around the time of Earth's evacuation so maybe they're humans who want to adapt to survive and stay on the planet instead of going off into space to an unknown fate much like the members of Starship UK
new cyberdrinking cybergame: take a cybershot every cybertime he says "cyber"
🍻😵💫 Yeah I think I'd have alcohol poisoning about 10 minutes in 😅😂
@@TheWhoniverseYT i feel like the writers for doctor who had a lot of fun giggling about the technobabble they invented lol
I tried, I'm on my fifth liver.
Cyberslushed

Exactly they really are a brilliant monster for the show and you perfectly captured it in your comment 👏😃

I've always interpreted those as antennae, almost. Like, a sort of hive-mind-connector.

Love it mate what about a history of Bernice summerfield
Ooo good idea, that's definitely a character I don't know too much about so I would definitely learn something making that one! 😀
Super curious to know where some of these images came from. That one of the cybusman under construction at 30:40 is fascinating.
That particular image was created by James Brindley 😁 you can find his work on artstation! It's awesome isn't it!

Mine too. I prefer the Cybermen over the Daleks.

Very comprehensive video. Good to see you back.
Thanks man! Love your videos too btw! 😁💪
@@TheWhoniverseYT aw thanks. 🙂
Thanks for this epic video on the Cybermen!
Glad you liked it 😁😁 definitely took a lot of work so really appreciate your kind words 💪
The Cybermen are my favourite Doctor Who monsters.
Awesome they are properly chilling monsters
Great they are all back
It's been a long time coming but so glad to make a proper full length video again 💪

Oooooo that's an epic idea!!!
Douglas Hurd, Tory Home Secretary from 1984, has often been likened to a Cyberman, due to his appearance and deep voice!
Can't wait to watch all of this
Hope you enjoyed the video 😁
How does the 15th doctors recent encounter with them in comics fit in with all of this?

Nothing on Big Finish or in the Dr Who monthlies is canon given it is not televised, and also no one can called these things canon.
I expected many things, Batman and Gandalf were not one of those things.
Hahaha yeahhh Lego Dimensions definitely added some unexpected layers to all this 🤣
