The most important thing to understand is that (SPOILERS AHEAD) Yuu changed her place with Strength a long time before. “Human” Yuu belonged to the world of Black Rock Shooter and the rest of emotionless incarnations. Strength = Yuu and Yuu = Strength. What's more, from what I understand Mato became directly connected to BRS which led to BRS insanity (or rather irrational thinking, that's why people call violet Black Rock Shooter, an “Insane BRS” and that's why they fought when Mato released from the state Yuu brought her into). Some basic knowledge: incarnations like Black Rock Shooter, Strength or Gold Rock Saw were made to bear all bad things that girls experience. I personally see it as a way of expressing hateful feelings through fatal fighting in a different world. Instead of talking the problems through, girls (their incarnations) tried to literally fight. Violence breeds violence so instead of getting rid of the problems, every kill made by alterselfs brought them more anxiety (that's why Mato has been feeling more and more emotionally lost throughout the show, because BRS was winning more and more fights [but that’s just my lose interpretation]). The meaning of the anime might be that people shall not be afraid of the possibility of being hurt or hurt someone because it leads to inactivity or self harm. We all should do our best and keep on going bearing our past, present and possible future on our backs. Just live the moment! Dunno… Maybe I got it all wrong but that's what I understood from the series. Edit. I personally like to think that the alter world do not exist and everything happened in Mato's head. Sasuke stopped being an introvert, most people only really have a few friends and just because he doesn't exactly talk a lot doesn't make him an introvert, he even goes out of his way to talk to people he wants to team up with. Mikasa isn't exactly introverted, because her internal thoughts are the same as her external statements except when it comes to her crush. Introverts are people who internalize everything, they don't talk about themselves and they don't enjoy talking about themselves, and they stick to themselves purely because they have social anxiety towards interacting with others. None of the characters you listed show these traits.
