I was 9 years old and the Disney Channel was running a week-long after school marathon of Godzilla movies, capping it all off on Friday with The Return of Godzilla. But for me specifically, I had heard about Godzilla somewhere but didn’t really know much about him. So imagine how surprised I was to turn on my then-favorite channel and see this giant greenish-grey lizard man thing stomping around, fighting a big robot lizard. Of course I was immediately intrigued and sat down to watch, but here’s the kicker: I DON’T REMEMBER WHICH MOVIE IT WAS. I know it was one of the Showa Mechagodzilla films, but I can’t remember if it was Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla or Terror of Mechagodzilla. I kept getting interrupted by my mom calling me to come help with laundry downstairs and my sister being a pain, so I only got to see bits and pieces when I dashed back to the TV and there wasn’t a commercial playing. I think I remember a commercial for “Ghidrah”: the Three Headed Monster showing, but that could have been the following day, when I watched Son of Godzilla. I’ve watched both MechaG movies since then, but I really can’t remember the specific details, especially since there was a commercial they kept running that showed scenes from several of the Godzilla movies, including him ripping off MechaG’s head and King Caesar barreling into the silver imposter while Big G held onto him. It’s been low-key driving me crazy whenever this topic comes up, and I wish I could figure it out!
I was getting worried when I didn't see Shin after #3 and #2. I'm glad Shin is recognized for his radiation heat ray as #1. The charge up was amazing and the build up for the first one was so different from others they way the flames just flood the streets. Then the second ray just slices the entire city, cutting through buildings like butter.

Why is it that Minus One is never acknowledged every time I see a new Godzilla list?? All it gets is a brief mention and that's it. Can somebody please explain this to me.
I remember my mom telling the story of when she and her dad were watching Godzilla movies, she asked what was that stuff coming out Godzilla's mouth, my grandfather said "His bad breath". 😄😄
When I Saw minus one I expected a classic Atomic Breath but when he launched that nuke I was kind blown since I didn’t expect it. It shook the whole theatre, and then his roar was bass boosted. Minus One Atomic Breath is one of my favorites
While Shin's is no doubt the greatest atomic breath of all time, I am surprised that Minus One didn't make it on the list, it was pretty damn amazing and my jaw dropped in the theater

Atomic explosion(Godzilla Minus One) whatever Godzilla’s atomic breath hit, a big mushroom cloud appears. Atomic tail whip (Godzilla: Planet of Monster) Earth Godzilla devastates a forest by charging up hi atomic breath, to all of a sudden whipping his tail, shows the intimidating power of Earth Godzilla. Plus his atomic breath looks like a rail gun. Atomic clash against MechaGodzilla( basically any movie were Godzilla fights his mechanical clone( personally it’s Godzilla vs. Kong for me)) seeing Godzilla’s and MechaGodzilla’s atomic breaths clash gives you a feel that MechaGodzilla is the only monster who can come close to killing Godzilla. Choking explosion(Godzilla vs King Ghidorah) King Ghidorah chokes Godzilla causing him to foam from the mouth, Godzilla fires a burst of atomic breath, electrifying the foam, causing Ghidorah’s middle head to explode. Godzilla flys( Godzilla vs. Hedorah) yeah it’s a silly, stupid, nonsensical moment, but we see Godzilla use his atomic breath to fly through the air.
I'm not sure if you'd consider this epic, but my favorite was from Godzilla vs. Hedorah (The Smog Monster). When Godzilla was knocked down, Hedorah started making his way toward a crowd of people only to be cut off by the Atomic Breath. It didn't hit Hedorah, but it stopped him and turned his attention back to Godzilla. Maybe I'm reading too deep into it, but it really felt like Godzilla was actively trying to protect humanity, even if they were the ones who caused this problem in the first place. He even stares down the crowd for a moment when the battle is over, as if to say "DON'T do that ever again."
I never thought Shin Godzilla would ever be topped in terms of doing something new with the atomic breath, but then Godzilla Minus One proved me wrong by giving a single blast the power of an atom bomb! So simple yet SO effective! 😮
The Gareth Edwards one was my favorite! Just the build up alone was amazing cause the marketing did an amazing job of hiding it. Then when Godzilla did it, the pay of was worth it!
I definitely liked these Atomic Breath scenes throughout the Godzilla franchise but I'm surprised Minus One didn't get a mention especially with how it was done with how the dorsal plates rise up and glow when big G is charging his Atomic Breath before they slam back down before he shoots it out, the scene in the city that he dies it will always be my favorite moment
The blast from Godzilla Minus One heat ray was by far the coolest and most realistic atomic breath attack I've ever seen. Almost like a real A-bomb going off in a real city.
Godzilla Final Wars remains my favorite Toho Godzilla movie Perfect way to conclude the original Godzilla franchise by having Godzilla face off with King Ghidorah one last time And the Burning Spark Heat Ray was beautiful Can’t believe the 20 year anniversary of Final Wars is this year!!

I always thought of the original Godzilla's Spray Blast as composed of a mix of napalm mist and acetylene, with just a hint of thermite. It was the condensation that ignited at steel-melting heat, in other words.
When I saw Godzilla’s atomic breath and the subsequent shockwave in Minus One, it put the hook in me. I was like, “Is this similar to what happened in Hiroshima?” Then, I had my answer when Godzilla roared at his throne in the form of a mushroom cloud.
To me I love all of the atomic breaths in Final Wars fell in love when my boy used it to take out Destroyah I will give credit to the Legendary version of Godzilla as well it looks awesome as well as the one he used on Orga and the ones used in the movies with Mecha Godzillas 2 and 3 but my all time favorite will be the one he uses in Giant Monsters all out attack just the power of it the charge up sound and how he used it he first time in the film

While Orga's death is among the best fatalities of the franchise, Godzilla uses his nuclear pulse attack to kill him rather than the atomic breath. The nuclear pulse was also used in films like Godzilla vs. Biollante, Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
