Do you know what the difference between this book and the earlier "A Different Vision on Fashion Photography" is? They're both by Taschen, both have the same cover art, this one just has a shortened title. I know they released this new one in both a normal and a Small size, but is there any difference in content between them?
Hi Mike, good question. This version displays 300 images of Peters work, the other 400. With many cross overs between the two. The version ios separated be each chapter featuring the other creatives Peter collaborated with. I will try and get hold of the other version at some point soon. It's very odd since the page counts are so close together on the old and new release (30 pages difference, but 100 images different?) The other very odd thing is that the small edition of this book has about 75 more pages than the normal book, and 50 more than the original book: Original book ("A different vision on fashion..") = 472 pages New release/normal size ("On Fashion..") = 440 Pages New release/small version ("On Fashion..") = 512 Pages
My own experience with these small and relatively cheap Taschen editions is bad manufacturing. Tonal richness is lover as with big editions, two times I had to send back one of these because of ink spots on some pages and or teared paged. (Taschen changeg them) I never had quality problems with Taschen expensive big sumo or mini sumo editions, but these are sometimes really expensive. Honestly I try to avoid this brand, when paying big money some other editors have really better paper brands and printing.
Just wanted to give a big Thanks for doing these flip-throughs! With many of these books it's hard to find more than a couple "samples" of the content. It's always an (expensive) chance on whether it's an actual photo book (like this), a photo + information book (filled with interviews, behind-the-scenes and stories, with only some photos), or how the content is laid out and presented (and what the quality of the photos are). These videos aren't quite a replacement for buying the books themselves, I think they actually help "sell" the book by seeing the quality of them (whether good or bad)

When I put the video in fullscreen the book almost appears on my screen as big as amazon lists it's dimensions and it left me really wanting the bigger version for three times the price. Lovely images inside, thank you for providing this unexpected but very useful help!
Just a question about the book. I need to learn some things about fashion photography for my study and I am able to choose a book an my own. Is this a good book to learn someting about fashion photography or are there just pictures in it without further explanation?
Hi Julia, good question. This book is mainly images from Peters work with fashion designers. You can learn visually by studying his composition, movement, focus, and natural lighting... etc. I would recommend picking up photography books often, every day, and ask yourself what you feel? What do you like? Dislike? Study and imprint this in your subconscious. Rember all photography its all perceptive, there is no right and wrong. If you want a step-by-step by step guide.
