Strength to Strength Sisters welcomed three sisters, Edith Burkholder, Doreen Kurtz, and Tirza Kurtz to join a panel discussion on navigating our emotions and using them for God’s glory.
Women were created beautifully as emotional beings, but these God-given emotions can sometimes be destructive. How can we navigate these feelings and use them for His glory? Join us as we hear from three sisters in different ages of life as they answer questions on how they are living well with their emotions.
    An interactive question-and-answer period follows.

I thank the Lord for this! I would like to make add a plea to the mentions against gossip; please older Sisters, refrain from matchmaking...! I have had difficult battles to face and go through because of women who from their kind desires for me have made suggestions that led to awkward or hard situations. Or even just temptations to take matters into my own hands. If you believe that a certain man and woman should be together, please just commit to praying about this! God will move and unite people in His time and manner!

This has been so helpful to hear from these godly, joyful, humble and soft-spoken women. I hope to be more like this. I have so enjoyed hearing from all of them.

I found the second sister very wise and I can hear through her words that she has been through a lot. I can relate that as a young "perfectionistic" mom, at 26 years old I had my 3rd child and my life was completely swept from out of my feet, I developed horrible symptoms that had me convinced I was dying, it was not just burnout but much more extreme, it was the start of a chronic illness, I was not even able to get out of bed or walk a short distance, yet I still had children to care for when I could barely live and was pregnant again, mostly bedbound. It shook up everything I thought of myself, I always thought I was a strong Christian, and I was, but it was the time of real trial. Five years later I still have the chronic illness and it has been extremely difficult, but I found that being faithful and even hanging onto a thread of faith was important, as many days I could not even think through brain fog to pray or read the Bible. I don't know if anyone else has been through such a challenge, but may you be encouraged that with God you can live day by day and moment by moment. Now five years later I am gindung that I am actually thanking God for the trials. For everything He has done through them, as trials really do bring about even greater blessings. Life can be very hard, but God is always good. May God bless all my sisters.

By the way I want to mention I did not have a mentor as I had never heard of anyone who had lived through the same thing, and maybe no one really can relate to your situation, even though I was in a large church, but even just Consistent faith can bring us through. And I want to reiterate thr thoughts expresses here by the sisters about perfection and rest. Perfectionism is very damaging and rest is very important, real soul rest and balance. Have conversations with your husband about the rest you need and what he really expects of you as a wife about cleaning and meals, etc, you may be surprised that you are really overdoing it or just catching up to others.

May I also add how damaging social medial influences are on our generation? We are seeing such fake things and pressuring our husband and children and ourselves to unrealistic lives. The reality is many of these influences have completely different sets of beliefs and also different financial/social/ etc. Situations and we try to match up. I followed one I thoight was similar to me with kids etc, and turns out she hadl a nanny and didnt even edit any of her videos because she has money to pay others, etc. Maybe I don't need to make sourdough bread because my family doesn't need it or like it and maybe my kids and husband are stressed out by all that farmouse decor or White modern furniture and are more happy living simply and foing inportant things. We need to only be influenced by the influencers in the Bible and other Godly women. I know this is a huge stress causing us horrible anxiety and jealousy, etc.
