Brilliant repair job ,to show the enthusiasm to get back to the work bench and get all those pieces back together again to once again create a magnificent model is a credit to you !
Judging by the looks of your shop and all the equipment, I don't think you'll have any problems with the skills part of the job. You are very organized from what I've observed, very impressive shop. I see it took you 2 years to rebuild it, I'd love to see it flying again. I know it was heartbreaking when you crashed it. Thank's for sharing.
I clicked on the link to see this video after watching the other crash. Nice job! It's also nice to see you aren't on of those who says such things as 'it fly again someday' and we never see any follow up. Great craftsmanship! Simply amazing!
boy, congratulations, I've been through some of these, and I've gone back to the model, it's a very good feeling to see the result and see that we have the ability to fix things as damaged as they are. It is very difficult to see people like this, many prefer to burn or end up destroying. great initiative to recover it. My congratulations again.
I watched the C-47 fly before, this confirms my suspicions, you do have master skills, and the Catalina is back to top notch condition again. Very nicely done.
You have my complete and total admiration! I have never seen such skills at putting such a total and complete scrap pile back together and you made it look good! I have no excuse for taking two winters to put a simple balsa Extra 300 back together. I knew it was an easy fix anyways and the wing came through totally intact. Mine was NOTHING like yours. I doubt anyone could do what you did,and have it look so awesome. I bet it even flys great. I would have struck a match to it and moved on. After putting the time and effort you did, I would NEVER fly it again. NO WAY !
You have excellent building skills; and made that complex & difficult repair look easy. Congrats. on a fine job! Did it fly again? If so, are you going to do a video on it flying after the re-build? One sweet model that Catalina PBY. :)
Oh my goodness!! She's such a beauty! Any idea what caused the crash? Argh! It's painful to see. :¬( And, as others have said, you're definitely pretty heroic to undertake such a major rebuild.
.......bellissimi video e bellissimo l'aereo.....complimenti.......io sono innamorato del Catalina ....ne ho fatti due negli anni passati ed ora ne sto facendo un'altro.................ciao....
Did you ever find out what caused the crash? From the video it looked like either loss of signal of the radio system or a malfunctioning servo, But i suppose it could have been dumb thumbed into the dirt i know i have lost a few aircraft this way. Great build looks great.
There were two rx, two batteries and two switches. If one failed, I would still have control of the other. The elevator and the aileron on one side should have been enough. An interruption from another transmitter is what I think happened. I think I will need to convert to 2.4 or buy new. tail and back end was unbroken, both elevator control worked right, all radios and battery worked right after the crash.
New great PBY-5A Catalina video The new DLE20-RA engines performed beautifully, they are a perfect match for the 1/8 scale Catalina and DC-3. th-cam.com/video/gEUOW4X96mA/w-d-xo.html
now this guy that she crushes on saying RC but however and he's everything everything everything has to be Savage it doesn't matter that it would destroy the entire body or the wind you always have to be there again this is how you do a new project you could save some parts but sometimes that's the part it destroys anything but however this is how you sell a car check your own start all over again but I could watch it and put it back together everything got worse damage it could be fixed everything got destroyed it could be replaced so this is how you call restart your own RC plane that you could do it so can you

@@SturlaSnorrasonRC thanks for the explanation.
nice work 😊
Isn't this the same plane that spotted Quint floating in the ocean after Japanese submarines slammed two torpedoes into their side chief?
What caused the crash??
Brother you are amazing.

And the pilot crawled away.
