Yin / inhale is clockwise. Yang / exhale is counter clockwise. Gathering energy needs to be clockwise in motion . To keep the energy from dissipating we need anti clockwise .

Hi Bruce, thank you for taking the time to comment with your question! Yes, silk reeling should be present in all styles of Tai Chi, but, unfortunately, it is most commonly associated with, and tends to be most obvious in, Chen style.

@@AndrewPlitt Agreed, sadly few styles other than Chen Family practice any kind of Silk Reeling, hence their taiji is weak. Thanks!
