I think you're right Phillip, it wasn't totally dried out. It looks very dry. The problem could be the strong winds and lots of rain we had in Holland and Germany. At that time it wasn't frosted.
Hans van het Goor I catch flack every year for chopping dry looking corn but I plant a longer day corn for my area witch leads to chopping later after a frost. But yeah hard to say why the corn died without being there in person.

I bet it isn't as dry as it looks. Looks like it has some moisture in it the way it's hitting the wagons. Bet it got frosted.
