Watch till the end to find out if these shoes are worth it for your next long run!
I got mine on release day and have been blown away by them. As comfy on long runs as my nimbus 26 and as fast as my endorphin speed4's on pace runs. Only downside is you wont want to wear any other shoe!
This is so true
What about on walk-in an shorter laps
Really I feel no squish
Got about 20 miles in mine so far and loving them! Straight out the box I did a 12 mile run and they are so comfortable 👌🏻 A definite improvement over the v1 so well done to the Asics team for not spoiling it 😂
Yeah thank god they didn’t!!
No issues with getting this shoe in Germany. Thanks for your review.
Lovely
I successfully found a pair this week, which is unheard-of... Put in a 8 mile hill run this morning, and i have to agree with you. This is a slam dunk shoe. Probably the best shoe i have ever run in. Amazing review as always!
Got 80 miles in mine already and it feels great. Done a 15 & 19 miler in them and likewise no hotspots or blisters. Definitely my go to trainer now 😊
That’s coz your an elite
@@FordyRuns 🤩😂
Current rotation: superblast 1 with 500 miles, novablast 4 with 100 miles. Superblast still feels great.
Yeah Simon’s same
Decided to get a pair on release after listening to your thoughts on previous podcasts and what Simon thinks of the superblast 1. I am 30 miles in on mine and I love them. I honestly thought nothing would touch my speed 4’s for daily work but these are on an another level in the way my legs feel after a long run(10 miles) so far.
So good
I bought these shoes and used them for the first time in a race the very next day. I broke them in during the race, and they were bouncy, responsive, and propulsive. They can handle both slow and easy runs. I tried them on a 32km race, and throughout the run, I felt protected. They supported my high arch well during the entire race. Even when I encountered uneven terrain, including unmetalled roads (also known as gravel roads or dirt roads), they felt protective. The bounce protected my legs, calves, and other parts of my legs.
Just ordered some thanks to your little nudge to some sizes back in stock, thank you!!
Hope you like it!
Excellent run, Fordy. !!! Keep it up!!!. Here is my Like. A nice day for everyone.
Big thanks
Totally agree on this, I love my Superblasts. But, on my long run yesterday two yellow pieces fell off from the outsole. Hope Asics can help me with that.
Oh blimey
I’ve got a pair of SB2 but haven’t tried them yet as my SB1 are still going well after 800k! The SB1 are amazing - used them for marathon training last year and the Brighton Marathon itself. I’ve also used them for some of my speed work sessions and actually ran my 5k PB in them recently! They are so light and comfortable yet fast as well. I do have other shoes in my rotation but you really could do everything in the SB!
800k🤯
My main 3 shoes in current rotation are:
Asics Magic Speed 4 for fast days
Saucony Endorphin Elite for racing
Asics Superblast 2 for everything else
Boom
Update to my last review, I have now used a runners knot a runners knot for the first time and for a 31km run, as I have narrow feet, these shoes are considerably better, more comfortable and feel more secure! I don't know why I haven't used a runners knot before now.
Had mine on release day. 60k in them now and as previously commented struggle to reach for anything else including my Boston 12 that have been fantastic.
Yep
I have just got a pair last week from Derby Runner and apart from lockdown issues on my right foot as I have a small heal insert to compensate for a shorter Rt leg, (however I am going to try a runners knot) to see if this possibly fixes this initial problem. I have now run 48km in these, and these are getting progressively better each time I run in these, and my HR zone 2 pace is significantly quicker. My aim now in my current marathon training cycle, is to see how close I can get to a BQ pace whilst running in Zone 2!
Thanks for the feedback
finally got a pair and there well worth the hype went from.8.30 per mile and dropped it to 7.00 minute.per mile and it felt effortless
Great review. For what it's worth, as a long time superblast fan, only two things I disagree with - I think it's great at any distance, not just long runs and, 2, I think it can do marathons but I think there are better choices - a carbon plate helps me when those legs are just wanting to give up!!!
Fair enough
Did 27km long run in them last weekend. The weekend before I did 24km in the original Superblast. The most stark difference for me is the shock absorption, my legs actually felt fresh the next day after the Superblast 2 long run (not so much with SB1). Also the grip definitely has a bit more bite.
Totally agree
The superblast 2 definitely has carried on from the 1 with a bit more squash on landing.
The biggest negative for me is the sizing. Id definitely recommend going half a size up if you had superblast 1.
Its good but the prime x 2 is still the king of the marathon training shoe. But id say there's room for both in a rotation.
Interesting thanks
i have the superblast 1. already 600km and still trying to like them. no bounce, the ride feels like a lightweight eva. if i had wore them blindfolded i wouldn't think they have high stack height. for same distance and effort my legs feel more beat up with superblast compared to something like a kinvara. meanwhile, prime x 1 feels good at any distance and pace that is slower than a mile pace. unfortunately they only sell prime x 2 now and from i've heard they are heavier. i wish original prime x is still available
Great review, like watching very informative and entertaining. I was wondering if you could add in metric conversion for the rest of the world out here who don't live in the minority world of imperial measurements.😊
on my buy list, maybe winter colour once its launched
Unfortunately no size 13’s as is the case with ASICS and their super shoes.
Love the nova blasts. Would love to give these and the sky Paris’ a run…
It’s so good I’m running Berlin in them. 😊
Happy days
Me too!
Fordy. Have my first marathon in London next year. This or the Endorphin Pro 4 for the race? Loved the 3
Pro 4 for race day
How does someone not on TH-cam get a pair of these shoes? They have been sold out on the Asics website since they launched.
I know a fair few people who got them on launch day
They do restocks online if you keep an eye out. They’re also always pretty much readily available in store on Oxford St if you’re in London.
I watched Running Warehouse almost daily and finally nabbed some last week.
Chris, when available for the masses, at the moment I’m seeing them on other sites for silly money mate
All these positive points but this shoe is nowhere to be found. Lol. Awesome review FR!
I know like I said I’m the video it’s a joke
@@FordyRuns Kofuzi said in a comment in his latest video that he’s spoken to them, and they have a plan to release more stock and colourways soon, with releases planned over the next 12 mos.
Great video as usual 🤘🏻 I’m loving mine !
Would this be a good enough shoe for a fast half marathon pace 4:15km ?
I’ve got the Manchester half in October so looking for more rotations to prolong my superblasts due to availability…. What would you recommend for slight pronation ? Tempus 2 , forever run ?
Nah go for something plated
Had mine a few weeks now and did my longest run in it on Sunday. 15.5 miles, and it was ace, I was feeling rough fir some reason and they coaxed me round and my legs weren't smashed up after.
Totally agree with @fordy, cracking shoe and the daddy for marathon training
love it well done
Running my first 10k race this Sunday and still debating whether to wear the Superblast 2's, Alphafly 3's or Endorphin Pro 3's.
Absolutely plan on buying another pair of SB 2's when the new color ways drop.
I wouldn’t wear them for a 10k
@@FordyRuns I'm slow, brother! 5'10 206lbs. My fastest mile as of now is 9:17. My fastest 5k is 30:07. I think they'd work fine for me as they really help make leg turnover easy! But I do think there are better options haha
Great review! How do they compare to the New Balance SC trainer 2 I'm in love with those for my long run shoe
Much better
I have the superblasts, boston 12s, and invincible 3s.....superblasts are more comfortable, faster and just so much better. It's hard to pick up the other shoes. It really is.
Hi Fordy. Love your videos. I run with a stability shoe. Would I be ok to run in a superblast 2?
Yep but if too soft go for the Saucony kinvara pro
@@FordyRuns cheers. Keep the great work up. 👍🏃🏻♂️👏
11 weeks till Melbourne marathon hope to get my pair soon !
Fingers crossed
Oi oi Yorkshire Marathon-Boomshanka!
See you there and possibly in a pair of Asics...
Enjoy your summer break Chris.
Tks
My feet are a bit wide and a brooks ghost(medium not wide) fits really good). Could the superblast 2 fit as well?
I have a size us11.5 on one foot and us11 on the other.
Can't decide what one to keep.
Always go half size up as a rule, however the 11.5 looks huge in these.
Any suggestions
Would this shoe be good for signing up for a half marathon? I have the novablast and I love them
Novablast will do just fine
Love mine even broke my 5k in them ❤ so light
Well done
How does the Superblast 2 compare to the Mizuno Neo Vista for marathon training?
Better
I’m currently running in the NB4, Endorphin speed 3, adidas sl and SC trainer 2. I’m looking heavily at the SB2 and Balos for a non plated long run shoe but use the NB4 for that purpose now. A fellow runner says the SB1 is better than the SB2 because the SB2 is just a NB4 with race foam, what’s your opinion?
isnt it illegal for marathon? i thought the legal height is 40mm?
Ran 100 km in them and returned them to Asics. Loved it for my LSD run on Sundays but it's too expensive for only that kind of run. For the rest of my runs it felt kind of meh... Expected more of it for that price. Just not my shoe...
Fair enough
I'm just curious, what shoe do you like if you don't like this?
Adidas Boston 12, Endorphin Speed and Pro, Triumph 20/21. I tried the SB2 after not running in Asics for years. Somehow I just can't get on with their shoes.
@peterterstege9926 surprised you don't like it. I have the boston 12 and the superblast. Boston 12 is a good shoe, but the superblast is so much more comfortable and I can run or slow no problem. Interesting.
Is it good for daily training? I mean for easy run/recovery run at pace 6 and 7?
Got a pair of nimbus 25s, I mainly use them for slow runs cause that's all I can do at the moment😂 ( wanting to be able to run 20 plus ks at a time ) looking for something similar comfort and cushion level just less heavy, wouldnt mind it a bit more springy aswell. Would these be a good upgrade?
Yep defo
read somewhere that the new ff turbo + foam is supercritical ! I have v1 wanna know if worths the upgrade
It’s worth it
If only we could get ASICS to get their inventory shortage fixed fast enough though. During the presale I couldn’t find my size, and after that, there’s NO size available in their website here in the US. Please send HELP😭😭😭😭
Agreed
@@FordyRuns quick question while I wait for inventory: out of the shoes you love, which ones would be your 2 best alternatives for the Superblasts 2? Thank you!
Hey Fordy!
Do you have any thoughts on running form? For example, Ben Parkes worked with Shane Benzine to improve his. Do you believe it's possible or does it just happen through increasing mileage and speedwork/strides?

@@FordyRuns Nice one!
Great review, too bad they are sold out literally everywhere.....
Yep I made the same observation
I got these in a UK8.5 (my casual shoe size is a UK8) and they feel great! The only issue I have is that they’ve given me slight blisters on my toes. Maybe I’ve gone half a size too small? I have a pair of Novablast 4s in a UK9 and they feel too big as I have so much heel slippage!
Yeah I went TTS
@@FordyRunsis TTS a half size or a full size up for you?
would you run a marathon in this shoe?
What’s the weight like, compared to version 1?
Tad heavier
I wish they made a 14US size
How much space do you have in the toe box? Is it normal for these to have more room than normal?
I have around 1 thumbs width or a slight touch more with thick-ish socks.
The half size down seems to be a bit too tight in the toe box - my right big toe sort of touches the edge of the toe box (not the front)
I have no probs with sizing infact it’s pretty much perfect
@@FordyRuns thanks for answering the question 🫡
After purchase and a few runs I put them on a par with v1….. that is until I did the first long run in them.
Found them better than v1 for the long run imo. I think the slightly softer and bouncier foam make them feel a bit more natural at easy pace than v1.
Yep
I have v1 and they just don't work that well for me. I feel like I'm fighting the geometry of the shoe. Too bad because it's a very comfortable, well-built shoe. I only have 200 miles on them and they could probably go 700.
They don’t work for everyone
I was a heel striker and now have transition to more of a mid foot striker and they feel so good. I can easily push the pace.
nah it does have a negative......
Price and Availability
I did say that
@@FordyRuns whoops my bad, sorry
the shoe has been very unfortunate for me, they cause me severe foot pain I believe from how stiff they are laterally.
I’m 250 of 400 miles into my version 1s (on my 2nd pair), and have another pair of new version 1s standing by….and then a new pair of these version 2s after that….might need to donate that new pair of version 1s…..
Good idea
I managed to find a pair in my size and plan on keeping them in the box until later in the year until my NB SC trainer V2 are worn out.
Is £200 a bit steep for a non-carbon plated shoe though?
Yep
i prefer the lighter v1
Mine aren’t that much heavier
@@FordyRuns In my shoe size of US 12 this makes a noticeable difference...
im.going for 3.20 marathon this atutmn do u think it would do the job
Yep
@@FordyRuns thanks pal didnt want to buy these and the sky paris
This or Novablast 4
Liking the socks that match
SHYU socks use code FORDY15
Why did they have to make them this narrow, its crazy. Very dissapointed by the fit, really tempted to put my scissors in the toebox, its so constricting.
I totally understand your frustration! Sometimes the fit can be really unexpected, and it’s disappointing when something doesn’t meet our expectations.
Not available. Ever
Poor tongue material digs into the top of the foot and the midsole is hollow and noisy. Returned mine ASAP. FOMO is a hell of a drug for everyone swooning over these.
I just dont get the hype of this shoe, I had to return mine, they are bulky and mushy..
Regular people can't get the shoe....makes no sense really....
I know a few people who got the shoe regular people as you put it. I did make the comment about stock in the video
Just received mine in the same color way from Running Warehouse.
Negatives.. "i can't find any" - Freudian slip! Can't find any anywhere!
It sounds like you're really enjoying the content! Sometimes the positives just shine a bit brighter, don’t they?
Hello. I find the superblast overrated for its price.
Nah underrated 🤣🤣🤣
@@FordyRuns 😂😂
Can this one be used as a daily trainer as well? Thinking a bit more protection than the Novablast 4.
Sure
