Echoing lots of comments in that I loved the multiplayer of Mario Kart 64 and single player of Diddy Kong racing. When my childhood friends and I get together we STILL play Mario kart 64. There's been 20 years of amazing multiplayer games since then but MK64 remains king in our particular group. Some of the music in DKR is just pure nostalgia bliss for me. From the music swelling to the flyover of all the tracks, then Mario thanking you for playing the game. Just perfect.
I liked both DKR and MK64. But I was very impressed with Rares ability to adapt to different genres, put out a fairly solid entry while also often advancing the genre a little themselves. Many different modes including a very well fleshed out adventure mode with its own hub and boss characters to race that were not recycled assets or races from anywhere else in the game. When I was younger it was definitely a game to stick with, even after everyone else had to go home. The powerups were also not random and not rubber banding which made it feel a little different too. In regards to LEGO Racers, there was a turning delay onto either the N64 or PS1 controls due to the fact that no one tested the controls before release. Mid to late 1997 was a period in gaming history that's taken mythical proportions for me. Among the hundreds of memories from that period the one that blew me away the most was playing both Goldeneye and DKR on a friend's gigantic CRT TV in his mountain home, it truly felt like the future of gaming had arrived. What other car combat games were there in N64 apart from the excellent Vigilante 8 series?
I have to admit I enjoyed Diddy Kong Racing a hell of a lot more than Mario Kart 64 ,the adventure mode was a great addition and played it to death and as far as I remember I unlocked everything. Your videos are great and I've been playing plenty of Nintendo 64 recently. And may I point out that this was before the Internet really kicked off and the only way to get guides for games were from monthly magazines. Loved those times
My goodness Diddy Kong Racing is still such a special game. An awesome Adventure Mode and a decent multiplayer mode that gave us a first glance at some of Rare‘s future big stars. Mario Kart 64 is arguably the best multiplayer on the N64, alongside Goldeneye 007. Such a superb set of tracks and multiplayer modes. No wonder it’s the second best selling game on the N64.
Great video. Diddy Kong Racing was really damn complex, lmao. I remember wigging when I found out you could go faster by tapping the A button. Made the game a lot easier, lol.
I had both MK64 and Diddy Kong Racing and i played Diddy kong a lot more for the reason that there was more to do and unlock. Plus imagining 10yr old me trying to unlock TT and finally succeeding is an accomplishment on its own that im glad to say that i did.
I just bought a Wii and going to install the VirtualConsole games, hope to get some N64 kart games!!! Thanks for the review, really love your channel and N64!!!
I don't have any (physical) friends interested in N64 or retrogaming in general , so I don't care about multiplayer. DDK wins by a long shot. I've just beaten both Adventure and Adventure Two. It's a really challenging and rewarding game, with a fantastic soundtrack. Certainly a Top-10 or even Top-5 N64 game
Great video, some people these days say Mario Kart 64 is overrated but it was always my favourite on the console over DKR, and this is coming from someone who rarely played the multiplayer
Mickey's Speedway was the one I've played the most as a kid, since we never had Diddy Kong Racing and just borrowed Mario Kart 64 on occasion. Most nostalgia goes to Mickey for me. Eventually, I did play Diddy Kong Racing emulated and it's real fun!
I actually still got my n64 hooked up and always ready to play. i still got lego racers, mario kart 64, diddy kong racing which those are really good classics for the system and still hold up pretty well even to this very day.
I didn’t play Mickey’s Speedway USA until about 2 years ago, a little after I started seriously collecting, and I love it! Not as much as Diddy and Mario though. Everything you said about all of these games is very agreeable except that I quite enjoy Diddy Kong’s multiplayer
Diddy Kong Racing - Was a late purchase for me. First played it back in 2006 when me and the family were staying over at a rented house during our holiday. Got the DS remake and fully completed it before eventually getting my own N64 copy. Downside though I struggled to beat the 1st boss ^^; Mario Kart 64 - My 4th game I got for the N64, very nostalgic to me hearing the music again. Really enjoyed it, but was lacking in unlockables as well as not much to keep single players interested with a free play mode. LEGO Racers - Requested this one for Christmas due to the whole 'build your own character and cart'. Was challenging I must say, but completed it in the end. Mickeys Speedway USA - Never picked this game up, but from magazines said at the time, it was actually a great game (Nintendo Official Magazine gave it a 91%) South Park Rally - Always surprised when I hear that South Park Rally is a bad game, because I thought it was rather good as I kept going back to it more than Mario Kart 64 due to the amount of stuff to unlock and different game modes as well as the replayability. Also the magazines gave it positive scores (including N64 Magazine giving it a 88%).
Mickey Speedway USA was a very interesting game to have as a first kart racer. While not the best one on the system, it does have plenty of fun and cool ascetics and mechanics in game.
Didn't play DKR unti I was an adult, but it was still a really fun experience. I wish the performance was optimized a little more (some tracks are super laggy) but overally it's a blast. MK 64 is pretty light on content, but the gameplay is absolutely stellar. I wish MK64 had some unlockables (other than the title screen lol). Tried but didn't get into the other kart racers (south park is so bad).
Top spot goes to DKR without any question. Easily one of the best games of all time for me, you can see how much love went into making it. It's just more game than the others. Man, what I wouldn't do for a sequel programmed by the legends that did the original.
Mario Kart 64 was the first N64 game I ever played, and at a friend's - I remember not understanding the controls at first, then again the N64 controller was unlike anything I had seen before at the time. It was then Diddy Kong Racing [and to an extent Star Fox 64/Lylatwars], that made me say 'I want a Nintendo 64'.
Not a kart racing by definition since there were no karts but Snowboard Kids was a favorite of mine as well. The game was so fun and I haven't seen any other game like it to this day.
I wouldn't mind a remake or sequel to south park rally that gets rid of the racing to each checkpoint and just be turned into a standard kart racer. It would be a way better game.
Only time i played Mickey's Speedway USA was when i was at McDonals. Strange to think they used to have console games there. They also had Pokemon Stadium 2.
Nice video man :) I agree fully on Mario and DK racing games, haven't played the others. One thing that Mario 64 lacks is music when you play with more then 2 persons, but I really like everything else hahaha. Double Dash is a really good one for multiplayer too in my opinion, but for new players a bit confusing.
Do you not consider Snowboard Kids a cart racer? I've always considered the term to mean cartoonish racing game with weapons. I would even consider something like Scars a cart racer and also Revolt.
for the purposes of this video I wanted to stick to more pure kart racers. SCARS and reVolt id put into car combat as I mentioned at the end of the video - that'll probably be another video as games like vigilante 8 fall into there too. Likewise I don't class penny racers as a kart racer although it shares many similarities with the genres tropes
I had both mk64 and dkr but we played the latter much more, even in multiplayer. We loved the mk64 battle mode, but dkr had more depth and complexity and also a story. Still, both made me dream and a 11 years old couldn't ask for better games. Only game that later came close to that in the category was snowboard kids.
The N64 library may have always been one of the smallest but it is indeed full-packed with outstanding games and kart racers on this system were absolutely incredible. My favorite one is Diddy Kong Racing due to its outstanding single player mode as well as the great looking graphics or the usage of Hovercrafts and Planes. Also it is quite difficult, but that is what I like. 😂 The Multiplayer mode of Mario Kart 64 is in my opinion to this date unmatched and by far the funniest I have ever experienced. Mickey‘s Speedway USA is neither as good as DKR nor as Mario Kart 64, still it‘s quite enjoyable But I have also admit that Crash Team Racing on its PS1 Counterpart is perhaps with DKR the greatest fun racer to be ever done. So much content, great soundtrack and design even if it borrowed a lot from DKR or Mario Kart.
Such a shame that incredible engine was wasted on a janky old Disney license. Beautiful visuals. No fog. No pop up. Long draw distance. Solid 60fps. Imagine what they could have done with another Diddy game...
I bought South Park Rally on the Dreamcast & i hated it but after a year or 2 i bought the Dreamcast steering wheel & tried it again & it felt like a different game, not a great one by any means but miles better than it was with a controller. Would love a talented development team to have another crack at it with all the modern South Park characters & potential themed tracks they could do.
Question: I know you have an UltraHDMI modded N64, but your capture footage seems to look very different than MetalJesusRocks and other TH-camrs who reviewed that product. The imagine quality is very pixelated. Why does your footage look so different from the other TH-camrs? Also... how do you feel about the EON Super64, and Retrotink 2X products?
In their golden age, Rare always one-upped Nintendo. Banjo Kazooie made Mario 64 look antiquated by comparison even though the former was released just two years after the later.
MK 64 is good, but never like DKR, because DKR is a masterpiece. Multiplayer mode is just a bonus. Don't care if is bad or not, as long as the single player mode is perfect.
I actually had tons of fun playing South Park Rally as a kid. Because it was South Park I would spend hours replaying it and listening to other characters curse. I was sad though to later find out that the other versions had more characters and features that were absent like more characters and skins.
Snowboard Kids also deserves a mention, while not really a KART racing game, the basics of Snowboard Kids is made allot like a Kart Racer but on a snow board and the track was down the mountain with chair lifts taking the player back to the start to complete a lap.
The pre-owned copy of Mario Kart you bought - I bet they still charged you about fifty quid for it. My local indie game store did that to me with Goldeneye. They only had one copy and it was reserved for their "premium members club". So I had to join for a tenner and then bought the game for £50. Ripped box, no manual.
I guess I'm the only one who liked South Park Rally, I think if the concepts of that game was in Nintendo's or Rare's hands, it would actually be a phenomenal success,
Mickey Mouse is my favorite, remember playing it as a rent never had it as a kid, it wasn't until early adulthood I had that game in my collection, my uncle gave it to me as well 3 other games knowing that I had been looking for them. As for the sequel that never came I wanted to have Scrooge, GizmoDuck, Bonkers D. Bobcat and Darkwing included, as well having their iconic locations as racetracks. As for the premise it would have been nice if it had something to do with the Beagle Boys.
Wow. Really impressed to see loads of respect and love for DKR > MK64. I too feel the same way. Imo, it's pretty much night and day, but that's probably because I feel MK64 is not only underwhelming vs DKR, but probably the least enjoyable MK title to date. It's just not as good as... pretty much all the others!
@@n64glennplant Hi. Do you mean the original or the remake? I've never played the remake. I can't remember a great deal about the original tbh. It was OK, I think but a tad overrated IIRC? It was the go to Kart Racer for PS1 owners who had no superior PS1 options available to them and CTR was a great offering.
@@n64glennplant Now, DKR had that Rare magic 'feel' to it. Not only did it look and play great, but it felt special, magical almost. I some other ppl here have touched on, I too played this during Xmas festivities and it complimented the seasonal vibe perfectly with those cosy tunnels and Xmas light lit snow effects all in all fully realised by the soundtrack. Ironically, DKR, in itself, was overlooked with MK64 being the N64 Kart Racer nostalgia-laden mental placeholder for most. I think, "retro" now being a thing has allowed for many with the ability to objectively and contextually realise, without the nostalgia, that when you compare DKR to MK64 that DKR, overall, is a better game.
@@n64glennplant Furthermore, I've always had issues with MK64. Personally, I never got on with distinct lack of speed. You've already touched on the (frankly disgusting!) rubber banding - although, having watched your video, I can understand YOUR argument for it. The levels were uninspired and far too open, without any need or benefit to it. Many tracks were just long winded and dull. However, I've always liked the presentation and music though. I've always been fond of the 2D sprites of the Kart Racers too, even if it was an underwhelmingly cheap design choice. I get the rubber banding and favourable roulette helps balance things for the less experienced, but I have always preferred to win off driving prowess and track knowledge personally. I found that multiplayer on DKR was actually decent once you activated the weapons cheat, IIRC?
Mario Kart was my first N64 game.I think I chose that over Mario 64 as I remember my best friend having SNES Mario Kart but I had a Mega Drive so when the 64 came out that was a chance to get a Mario Kart game of my own!Though I ended up trading it for Perfect Dark. Should never have done that as it’s not the cheapest title to pick up now. Can never understand why though as it’s such a popular and well-owned title?
I think its the same reason that goldeneye and a few others still hold value - they are the games even casual people want to get when they get an n64 console for a nostalgia kick rather than having any intentions of ever being collectors
Mariokart 64 was best because of the gang of nintendo friends that we all love, Rare cant really compete with that, even thought its probably technically the better game
I feel the tracks should be based on locations and area based off the classic Disney cartoons or ducktales/Donald duck comics that would make a way more interesting theme then just different states in the United States
Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing are perhaps the best two Kart Racing games on the N64. And with Mario Kart changing and improving over time, I can only think what could have been if RARE and Nintendo were still together to make Donkey Kong Racing on the Nintendo Gamecube to it's completion before RARE got sold to Microsoft.
I really wish we had got that too, im also sure that there was a really good video about it on youtube a few years back but I can't see to find it now to share with you
I don't why but i really like the mickey speed way game I don't know why but in my time I also had mario kart 64 and diddy kong racing but I find myself playing the game most often I even 100% complete and rage alot in the frantic finale, I don't know i just really like the game and had fun winning the races and unlocking the new characters.

I had both MK64 and Diddy Kong Racing and i played Diddy kong a lot more for the reason that there was more to do and unlock. Plus imagining 10yr old me trying to unlock TT and finally succeeding is an accomplishment on its own that im glad to say that i did.
I got TT too but didn’t like him as a character 😑
I just bought a Wii and going to install the VirtualConsole games, hope to get some N64 kart games!!! Thanks for the review, really love your channel and N64!!!
Thanks for stopping by and watching 👍
So is no one gonna mention that sexy custom N64 in that thumbnail? Good lord ❤
Thang a beauty right 😍
I don't have any (physical) friends interested in N64 or retrogaming in general , so I don't care about multiplayer. DDK wins by a long shot. I've just beaten both Adventure and Adventure Two. It's a really challenging and rewarding game, with a fantastic soundtrack. Certainly a Top-10 or even Top-5 N64 game
that's a shame, aren't there any retro game groups in your area?
I'd love an HD remake of DKR on Switch
I think many will agree with that!
VegaPhil
wont happen. outside of Diddy Kong, Rare and Microsoft own the rights to the rest of the characters
*diddy kong racing* was an incredible game. i rarely enjoy racing games but this was a special experience. i highly recommend it!
Great video, some people these days say Mario Kart 64 is overrated but it was always my favourite on the console over DKR, and this is coming from someone who rarely played the multiplayer
I think many just like crapping on anything N64. And then when Nintendo announce the mini classic everyone will be jizzing all over it again 😂
Oh man yeah if you like
Msusa then you’ll almost certainly love dkr
my favorite and a must on all my gaming sessions was mario kart 64, but every time we played snowboard kids 1 and 2 we had a complete blast of joy
All 3 are awesome 😬
I remember one Christmas vacation, I rented a copy of DKR and I spent the week with my cousins playing this all day. Good times.
I actually still got my n64 hooked up and always ready to play.
i still got lego racers, mario kart 64, diddy kong racing which those are really good classics for the system and still hold up pretty well even to this very day.
its just a shame the modding scene isn't quite as strong as it is with other systems but maybe one day we will get some new games using those engines
I didn’t play Mickey’s Speedway USA until about 2 years ago, a little after I started seriously collecting, and I love it! Not as much as Diddy and Mario though. Everything you said about all of these games is very agreeable except that I quite enjoy Diddy Kong’s multiplayer
Great Review! Never played any of those except for Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing but never completed DKR.
Check em out!
I don't have an N64 anymore, so I may pick up the DS version of Diddy Kong Racing someday. How does it compare to the N64 original IYO?
Sidenote: I've never actually played the original, so it'll be a completely new game/experience for me.
It’s not as good because they changed some details and added a horrible touch screen additional mode
fripp555 No big surprise, since they were owned by Microsoft at that point.
I loved so much Diddy's kong Racing. My favorite N64 game... and it appeared quite by surprise, the same year it was annonced.
Yeah it’s crazy when you think about that now
Loved dkr, mario kart was great too but I don't be hating on Mickey's speedway
Lego Racers had a drift button to compensate for the wide turning radius of the cars. Also the soundtrack is extremely nostalgic and catchy
Lego racer was I favorite as a kid I would spend hours making my own karts in that game!
Yeah that was one of the really cool unique things about it
Dude can you imagine if the team at Rare who made Diddy Kong had made South Park Rally 😫
Would have been an all time great hame
Diddy Kong Racing - Was a late purchase for me. First played it back in 2006 when me and the family were staying over at a rented house during our holiday. Got the DS remake and fully completed it before eventually getting my own N64 copy. Downside though I struggled to beat the 1st boss ^^;
Mario Kart 64 - My 4th game I got for the N64, very nostalgic to me hearing the music again. Really enjoyed it, but was lacking in unlockables as well as not much to keep single players interested with a free play mode.
LEGO Racers - Requested this one for Christmas due to the whole 'build your own character and cart'. Was challenging I must say, but completed it in the end.
Mickeys Speedway USA - Never picked this game up, but from magazines said at the time, it was actually a great game (Nintendo Official Magazine gave it a 91%)
South Park Rally - Always surprised when I hear that South Park Rally is a bad game, because I thought it was rather good as I kept going back to it more than Mario Kart 64 due to the amount of stuff to unlock and different game modes as well as the replayability. Also the magazines gave it positive scores (including N64 Magazine giving it a 88%).
Mickey Speedway USA was a very interesting game to have as a first kart racer. While not the best one on the system, it does have plenty of fun and cool ascetics and mechanics in game.
It’s a solid first kart racer to have if that’s someone’s first one - a good gateway experience
Yeah I too would have loved a few more secrets to get in MK64!
Mortal Kart
Top spot goes to DKR without any question. Easily one of the best games of all time for me, you can see how much love went into making it. It's just more game than the others. Man, what I wouldn't do for a sequel programmed by the legends that did the original.
maybe one day if we all dream hard enough it'll actually happen :)
Best channel on TH-cam, thank you :)
thanks for watching ken - appreciate your support
Mario Kart 64 was the first N64 game I ever played, and at a friend's - I remember not understanding the controls at first, then again the N64 controller was unlike anything I had seen before at the time. It was then Diddy Kong Racing [and to an extent Star Fox 64/Lylatwars], that made me say 'I want a Nintendo 64'.
lylat wars :) you must be PAL too
@@n64glennplant Yep, I live in Australia :)
Yeah those kiosks are a cool collectors piece now
I'm surprised you didn't mention beetle adventure racing. It's honestly one of the most underrated racing games of all time
It’s not a kart racer
@@n64glennplant True, I guess its possible a topic for another racing video along with FZeroX, Wave Race 64, and Star Wars Episode 1: Racer
Nice video man :)
I agree fully on Mario and DK racing games, haven't played the others.
One thing that Mario 64 lacks is music when you play with more then 2 persons, but I really like everything else hahaha.
Double Dash is a really good one for multiplayer too in my opinion, but for new players a bit confusing.
see I enjoyed double dash but after completing it I didn't like going back to it as much as I normally do for MK games
N64 Glenn Plant Understandable yeah
Diddy Kong Racing is my Number 1. It simply got so much beside the Multiplayer, that I just have to give it a win.
amen to that brother
Great episode Glenn, I wonder what genre it's gonna be next time.
What would you like?
@@n64glennplant well considering Perfect Dark is probably my favourite game ever I think you know my answer :D
And yes I know you made Rare games already
The textures in South park look like placeholder textures, and it's like the game shipped before the artists had a chance to make them
Do you not consider Snowboard Kids a cart racer?
MK 64, MK DD and MK DS were all so damn good!
I wish Donkey Kong Racing got finished... Would have been interesting to see how that would have played!
yeah on gamecube too that should have shone
@@n64glennplant I only did it once, but playing with 4 TVs and 4 GameCubes over LAN was amazing! Too bad no one ever did that.
The Multiplayer mode of Mario Kart 64 is in my opinion to this date unmatched and by far the funniest I have ever experienced.
Mickey‘s Speedway USA is neither as good as DKR nor as Mario Kart 64, still it‘s quite enjoyable
But I have also admit that Crash Team Racing on its PS1 Counterpart is perhaps with DKR the greatest fun racer to be ever done. So much content, great soundtrack and design even if it borrowed a lot from DKR or Mario Kart.
I still need to play the new CTR remaster
Such a shame that incredible engine was wasted on a janky old Disney license.
Beautiful visuals. No fog. No pop up. Long draw distance. Solid 60fps.
Imagine what they could have done with another Diddy game...
Yeah donkey Kong racing on the GameCube was something I was gutted about when they sold rare to Microsoft and it was cancelled
These kart racers resulted in me and my brother getting violent everyday in the 6 week holidays. Great times.
haha did you have truce Tuesdays where you'd stop brawling?
If you like customizing tracks or cars I can highly recommend Modnation Racers. Unfortunately the online servers were recently taken down
I think I’ve seen that but not played it
I never could get past the dragon boss in dkr. Not sure if the game is that challenging or if i just suck at racing games
That was a hard one I too found him tough the second race with him
I bought South Park Rally on the Dreamcast & i hated it but after a year or 2 i bought the Dreamcast steering wheel & tried it again & it felt like a different game, not a great one by any means but miles better than it was with a controller.
Would love a talented development team to have another crack at it with all the modern South Park characters & potential themed tracks they could do.
Yeah I think it’s one of those experiences that now any developer would have a hard time messing up
Question:
I know you have an UltraHDMI modded N64, but your capture footage seems to look very different than MetalJesusRocks and other TH-camrs who reviewed that product. The imagine quality is very pixelated. Why does your footage look so different from the other TH-camrs?
Also... how do you feel about the EON Super64, and Retrotink 2X products?
It depends what settings you set the mod to. I’ve not tried any of those other products as I have the market leader 👍
Oh yess!
Another video form Glenn!
Perfect!
thanks razor
I understand that it is not literally a "kart" racer, but Snowboard Kids deserves some love.
It did get love - in my snowboarding games video 👍😬
Mario Kart 64 might have been great, but Diddy Kong Racing will always be the king!
Word life! 👍
In their golden age, Rare always one-upped Nintendo. Banjo Kazooie made Mario 64 look antiquated by comparison even though the former was released just two years after the later.
@@ricardocantoral7672 That's true
@@ricardocantoral7672 Until they tried to make Starfox go up against Zelda. Still loved Starfox Adventures tho.
Am i wrong in thinking that Nintendo encouraged Rare to make a Starfox rpg?
Diddy Kong Racing is one of my all-time favorites.
MK 64 is good, but never like DKR, because DKR is a masterpiece.
Multiplayer mode is just a bonus. Don't care if is bad or not, as long as the single player mode is perfect.
Still think adventure mode is best on any kart racer to this day
I actually had tons of fun playing South Park Rally as a kid. Because it was South Park I would spend hours replaying it and listening to other characters curse. I was sad though to later find out that the other versions had more characters and features that were absent like more characters and skins.
who's your fav character in it?
I think I played the most as Eric Cartman, and then other times as Mephisto because he drove in a DeLorean.
Snowboard Kids also deserves a mention, while not really a KART racing game, the basics of Snowboard Kids is made allot like a Kart Racer but on a snow board and the track was down the mountain with chair lifts taking the player back to the start to complete a lap.
snowboard kids 1 and 2 were great, the third on ds was garbage
The pre-owned copy of Mario Kart you bought - I bet they still charged you about fifty quid for it. My local indie game store did that to me with Goldeneye. They only had one copy and it was reserved for their "premium members club". So I had to join for a tenner and then bought the game for £50. Ripped box, no manual.
Them group sessions bro sis and dad are an awesome N64 nostalgi to have✌🏻
The white N64 in the thumbnail is sooooo cooooool!!!!!! ♥️ Does it really exist?
Yeah I think it’s by Zoki 64 if I remember correctly
Diddy kong racing is GOATed. Can't wait for it on the n64 online service
Oh man no Penny Racers. That was my favorite Kart Racer. So many hours spent stealing parts from friends
I don’t see that one as a kart racer, more of a car racer
@@n64glennplant Fair enough. Still an amazing video as always Glenn
I guess I'm the only one who liked South Park Rally, I think if the concepts of that game was in Nintendo's or Rare's hands, it would actually be a phenomenal success,
I think so too - sadly it was acclaim who had a very short timescale to make and release it
I remember the Colorado race on Mickeys Speedway being unbearably hard as a kid.
As for the premise it would have been nice if it had something to do with the Beagle Boys.
that would have been cool - id have liked a duck tales style racer around duckberg
What did you make of CTR?
@@n64glennplant
Hi. Do you mean the original or the remake? I've never played the remake. I can't remember a great deal about the original tbh. It was OK, I think but a tad overrated IIRC? It was the go to Kart Racer for PS1 owners who had no superior PS1 options available to them and CTR was a great offering.
@@n64glennplant
Now, DKR had that Rare magic 'feel' to it.
@@n64glennplant
Furthermore, I've always had issues with MK64.
Right with you there Neo. MK64 is maybe better than, say, Double Dash, but overall I'd say the rest- including the original- are better all round.
I still want Mickey Speedway USA HD or Lego Racers 3.
I think we all do ;)
Mario Kart was my first N64 game.I think I chose that over Mario 64 as I remember my best friend having SNES Mario Kart but I had a Mega Drive so when the 64 came out that was a chance to get a Mario Kart game of my own!Though I ended up trading it for Perfect Dark.
South Park Rally felt like a bad Midnight Club before Midnight Club.
now you mention it.....
Mariokart 64 was best because of the gang of nintendo friends that we all love, Rare cant really compete with that, even thought its probably technically the better game
I prefer the dkr gang personally although there were no bad guys to play as 😂
😂😂 I liked Bowser as he is a bit like me, big, fat and high top speed!
I feel the tracks should be based on locations and area based off the classic Disney cartoons or ducktales/Donald duck comics that would make a way more interesting theme then just different states in the United States
I’d be up for a race around duckburg!
My Top 5 list
1 Lego Racers (BEST!)
2 DKR
3 Mickey Speedway USA
4 Mario Kart 64
5 South Park Rally (EW)

3:58 why taking turns? You can play the Grand Prix with 2 players in co-op!
I really wish we had got that too, im also sure that there was a really good video about it on youtube a few years back but I can't see to find it now to share with you
DKR had it all! still playing it over and over.
I just wish we could get more of it
Minutes away from buying a complete Diddy Kong Racing on eBay! 🎊🎊
Make it happen
I don't why but i really like the mickey speed way game I don't know why but in my time I also had mario kart 64 and diddy kong racing but I find myself playing the game most often I even 100% complete and rage alot in the frantic finale, I don't know i just really like the game and had fun winning the races and unlocking the new characters.
It’s a shame the secret characters weren’t all that great though right?
