It is dangerous, there are nowhere near enough fixings in the ceiling. I've seen some very nasty accidents happen when inexperienced trades use the wrong fixings and too few of them. That light box could fall on a child's head.
Messenger Rising says the American. I guess we need some (union sponsored) laws to keep people from doing this themselves. Get the government involved, pay them to issue a permit before any diy projects are performed.
Zach B. is right !! !! Lets keep all aspects of our life in the hands of profiteers, and vicious, zelles controllers. I also want to add: " DON'T SEAT ON THE TOILET IF ITS INSTALLED BY YOURSELF but U can still watch it,... and wait for UNION and GOVERNMENT to come in and inspect those few bolts. Don't forget to PAY like $300 for the "inspection of Honorary Inspector and of course for Honorary Certificate!! ... until than go to McDONALD :))
All I have to say is that this lady is FIERCE! She is GIVING it to me. You better install that dropped light box and show the boys how it is done! Oh...and just to add I am being told it can't be done. I can't wait to show my builders that it can!
Girl, wow,💪I'm so proud of you.i want something like this,it doesn't look too complicated but I know in my country they a going to charge me like I'm building a mansion🙆♀️.
if you make the frame smaller and your main board bigger you can add uplighting which will light up across your ceiling too so you can alternate lighting options
looks good in the end but this is not the right way. plastic anchors, not used any scrim tape to avoid cracks in future and etc. also you need to advise the people where exactly to put any screws because if the construction is fixed on plasterboard only it will colapse ;)
No need for scrim tape as the main board is medium and won't crack. The sealant between the medium board and the side plasterboard is acrylic and won't crack neither. The construction is less than 10kg and the screw plug can support more than 50kg each, the ceiling is not plasterboard as one can see at the beginning of the video the drilling is in bricks. not a chance of collapse.
@ unclassified Who says it's in a house? This could easily be in an apartment in a building somewhere on the 5th floor where concrete ceilings are standard. Hence the major reason why they don't fly into the air or crumble down when a hurricane passes by. Oh and here is some more knowledge for you: there is a big difference between concrete and cement. Use google to know what it is. Furthermore, there is a layer of plaster over the concrete, because not everyone likes the raw concrete look. Hence why she can protrude the tips of the screws into the ceiling. Even a 10 year old would have figured that one out. SMDH So, how does that burn feels like, wiseguy?
It's clear to see your cable powering your down lights but I can't understand how you got a cable to your LEDs without punching a hole through the side walls of your box?
A little hatch was created on the side to put the transformer and connect the LED strip. Details at www.kinook.biz/howto-build-dropped-ceiling-light-box#astuces
thank you so much for sharing ! My kitchen has 3 fluorescent bulbs and if anyone could help with the electrical part I would greatly appreciate cz I want to start this project like....now! Thank you!
Hey, your video is fabulous. I am about to move into a new house and am planning to install something similar in my kitchen. Those plastic corner elements work amazing. Where do buy and what are they called? I definitely want them!! Thanks.
5.21... little confused as to how screws going in ..i mean that it look like you drilling the screw into the metal frame sounds silly question but is it secure? Also what material are you using for the board? it look like mdmf? I ask as I have tried things like a 3.5 mm plywood and it always sags and bows. Also want to know if it mdmf as that is a pain to screw into. ALSO WHAT IS THE WIGHT OF THE METAL FRAME on average for something like you have done here thanks would appreciate a reply :)
That only took 5:53 minutes. Do you think I can do it as fast as your did? Excellent video. Thanks for your help. What was the name of those plastic pieces hold the metal frame together?
girl DIY-ing like a boss!

Maybe they are just worried the time that it takes to give a pro finish and strength.

I'm in construction.
Plastic used on the ceiling to catch the dust is brilliant .
well done on your build.
you see the dust fall through?
Congratulations, video not made with still pictures. Specific instructions. Keep up the good work.
if you make the frame smaller and your main board bigger you can add uplighting which will light up across your ceiling too so you can alternate lighting options
I think she would have to lay another cable for this
That looks amazing! Great job!
Your instructions are so clear
Awesome I was looking to do something a little different for a homeowner !! perfect
I'm sexist... because as a man, to see a woman do this gives me more confidence. Just like leg training...
"the dust will gather inside the plastic"
*proceeds to drill, dust falls out*
^_^
Or you can simply use 4x2. I have built a few of these bespoke to fit over kitchen workshops and and to house extractor fans.
Very nice job 👍🙏Thunku Madam 🙏🙏
Very informative. Thank you!!

Need to use a stud finder to nail into 2x8s. hate that plastic hangers.
wonderful job, it's very nice, it gives me an idea.
She is very preety with face & work both.... Good job
Nicely done
nice tip for the dust ! especially drilling into a ceiling!
+AdrianJayeOnline except that you can see the dust just falling out through the drill hole & being scattered by the drill.
+Drew Almy you won't stop it all, but I liked that tip nonetheless
AdrianJayeOnline it's a 2 person job anyway. May as well get someone underneath with a vacuum
To be sure proof you should screw the metallic studs into ceiling studs.
I literally yelled out load nooooo! When I saw her drilling into ceiling drywall 🤣
Like sheep Rock brackets are going to hold it up there {^-^} LoL..

Plastic anchors in the dry wall ceiling to secure the light box? How optimistic!
That was a concrete ceiling by the noise and dust made. Good point however.
A lot of Asian countries do because termites and ants love wood.

@@TheOpelkoenjas She was definitely using drywall anchors.
you dont need the blocks, you can make the frame with metal alone
adam garrett I thought the same thing, if I brought those blocks to work, I would be made fun of for ever.
BUCKEY THE DOG they are exploiting the amateurs
Or wood.........
Its so nice
Very good
great work........keep it up

Very cool, looks fantastic, you rock :) But... I'll never install all THIS on 8 plastic "plugs", to be honest.
you'd be suprise how strong the constructions are, more details at www.kinook.biz/diy-techniques#solide
wow. so cool
Nice job sister
Who knew Sarah Silverman was so handy.
But you are too beautiful to do this type of work....all the best!

they are called kinook blocks: www.kinook.biz
good job very nice i like thank you
Can you please add the pink or all the materials used? Thanks
just follow the link at the end of the video
very nice
I just ordered my kit for my living room.
Akins2000 from where
Simply Awesome...!!
И где купить еще этот детский конструктор?
If the bottom panel can be held by screws, the side panels can too... why you need the purple blocks? Redundence.
un diseño k lo buscaba para mis proyectos gracias por las ideas y voy a cambiar mi sala saludos

material is MDF (10mm) and yes the screw drills directly into the stud, that's the way dry wall are built

Loved the video. But it s more a DDIY for me (Don't Do It Yourself) lol
Hello, great video thanks for sharing, can you please let me know what are those purple connectors call and where I can find it. Thanks
Wouldn't you need to find the ceiling studs to attach too?surely you can't attach any weight hanging from plasterboard alone.?
superb
so good !
The dust didn't gather in the plastic lol! But cool video

Kinook blocks
what kind of board did she use?
Where can I purchase those blocks and materials. Can you do a break down of everything used
I loved this video. The only things is, LED’s is pronounced letter by letter, rather than like lead metal.
Amongst trade workers, saying “leads” vs L.E.D. Is actually pretty common.
