We are excited to announce: the IPC practice tests & video courses
    Also in the works are:
    - UPC practice tests & video courses
    -DWV venting course
International Plumbing Code Chapter 9 is all about sanitary drainage systems. This video presentation covers IPC sections 913 to 917. This video presentation contains explanations about venting drainage pipe using a variety of methods including the waste stack vent, circuit vent, combination drain and vent, island fixture vent, and the single stack vent systems.
This video is based on the 2021 International Plumbing Code, so chapter 9 might look a little different than previous or later versions of the code. Generally, the code requirements do not change much from one edition to the next.

Thanks Tom! Your videos have been very helpful in understanding the IPC, as it pertains to all the sizing charts, along with the illustrations. I’ve been plumbing in California and have exclusively used the UPC. I’m in Texas now and other plumbers here are always mentioning other venting methods, I’ve always used individual vents or a seldom wet vent off of a toilet vent. I’m currently preparing for the Journeyman Plumbers license Exam, and your videos have helped immensely! Thanks again

Your videos are clear and helpful. Can you do a video explaining 917 and providing examples of how one can use that code section for residential homes? Seems like most people avoid that section, so it's hard to find explanations and examples of how it can be used.

Hello. 917 is really not designed for residential. It is used in tall buildings, like skyscrapers, with the exact same fixture layout one floor after another. There are so many other better vent options for residential. But if you did use it in residential, it would look like plumbing from the 1950s with a huge stack going up the middle and fixtures branching off.
