- In continuation of my series of railfanning the Metrolink Perris Valley Line, I managed to head out on Friday morning and railfan the last two remaining stations, the first one of the day being the Moreno Valley / March Field Station. This station in particular was the most intriguing and interesting of the four along the PVL in my opinion, mainly due to how the station was built. The first noticeable feature was the fact that the station and parking were built on a fairly high bluff above the tracks compared to other numerous Metrolink stations. The second was the fact the station platform itself was built on the opposite side of the tracks rather than on the adjacent side of the station, which was mainly in correlation to the new concrete tie track added to the east side of the original track. The original track is still used for freight movements, although the track still retains the jointed rail, as seen in the video. Because of this, there is a rather nice pedestrian crossing instead of a typical pedestrian tunnel commonly seen at stations with double track. All in all, although this station also had low ridership as well, the interesting design and infrastructure of the station made for some very interesting shots and nice horn action.
Note : The trains running between only Downtown Riverside and South Perris are all the same trainset, operating on a back and forth schedule.
Train 1 : Metrolink #731 with CabCar #682 & F59PHI #884. Just as the sun peaks in the horizon, Metrolink #731 arrives right on time.
Train 2 : BNSF San Jacinto Local with GP60M-3 #136, GP60M #168, & #194. Nice horn action and crew as well !
Train 3 : Metrolink #732 with F59PHI #884 & CabCar #682.
Train 4 : Metrolink #733 with CabCar #682 & F59PHI #884.
Thanks for Watching !
