Hi Jul, there is only one cleaning procedure to be performed. You need to change the filter. The LED display in the fitting’s left handle indicates the filter capacity: Continuous blue light - more than 10% filter capacity Flashing blue light - less than 10% filter capacity -> order a filter cartridge Rapidly flashing orange light - less than 1% filter capacity -> filter cartridge must be changed. Service life approx. 600 litres (10° dH) or max. 12 months. The litre amount depends on the carbonate hardness of the water, not the overall hardness. Let us know if you have further questions. Best, Anna from GROHE Team
GROHE thanks Anna. One last thing: in addition of the cleaning spray/filter shown here, do I have to buy the white adapter or is it provided with the cleaning filter?
Yes, you do have to buy the adapter seperately. Product number: 40 694 000. We recommend to clean the product at leat once a year. Have a great day. Best. Anna from GROHE Team
Hello, the cleaning cartridge is adequate for a single cleaning session. While there may be residual water in the cartridge, it contains no cleaning solution. Best regards Your GROHE Social Team
Hello, the cleaning procedure takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Within this duration, C1 to C9 are processed, and C4 marks the fourth step out of nine in the cleaning process. Kind regards, your GROHE Social Team
Hello Claire, the E8 Code shows you need a new filter, which should then be installed in order to filter your water. After you have installed the new filter, it is necessary to reset the filter capacity. If you followed these steps in this order, and still get a E8 code, please contact your local GROHE partner. Kind regards, Your GROHE Social Team
I got the same issue. I started the cleaning process(the display indicates: CL) during the process where I hoped for the next step c1, c2 etc.! E8 was flashing in the display and the tap flashing purple. Did you figure out what the problem was? I assume that my filter level should have been down to 0. I started the cleaning process at level 1 and under the process the unit think the filter need to be replaced, because it reached below level 0 during the cleaning process.

@@GROHE - thanks. When using a new cleaning cartridge, the cleaning session ended with the E8 code again. Is the cleaning incomplete or done? When I reset and put in a new filter it reads 99 again

How often can you use one cleaning cartridge? After the cleaning procedure it still had 360ml in it (I compared it with an empty cartridge)

I also get an error E8 once I start the cleaning process. The tap is flashing purple. Is the system being cleaned even though E8 is flashing?
