Then use only the scent leaf and garden egg leaf before the corn. A better method! I advise you to reduce the water in the Pigeon pea (Fio Fio) then put the hard veggies (scent leaf etc) or even chopped pumpkin before putting the ground corn, then the soft green leafy veggies will be placed on top of the corn when it's done and your heat is off cos the heat from the food and even during the final mixing process will cook the veggies and it will retain the colour and nutrients (Vitamins and Minerals) too. For making the sauce, it's not advisable to heat the oil in order not to kill the vitamin A, just put all the ingredients except onions and a little water, then allow it to cook for 3mins, then add onions since you wish it to be half done, just like me.😊 I also enjoy eating with hand too.

U are right, alternative to plastic bascket is a locally made bascket specifically designed for cooking ayaraya, achicha & the likes.
You're right, that's what we use in Villages esp when cooking with firewood cos it takes more time.
