We took a local bus in India, had no expectations but it turned out to be an insane adventure in itself.
From a 16h ride filled with tender gestures, lots of honking, to the mission of finding a washroom, we will definitely never forget this bus ride.
We are in India to explore West Bengal, experience the Indian culture, eat Indian food, blend with the Indian people and see how life is in the West Bengal.

There is a law in India that was formed in the late 1800s. According to this law, you can ask for free water in hotels and can directly use the washroom. No one can stop you . This also includes that gas station. Next time pressurise them by saying I am dialing 100 (police) to complain about this if you don't open.

It's a shame that we have failed to offer the minimum necessities for a decent travel experience. The rule of thumb in India is book in advance train, bus anything when you are travelling outside the major cities. And frakely in India our sense of hospitality is reducing, we don't really care. Yep, washrooms are a problem in India, particularly for ladies. It was much worse earlier but present West Bengal govt. had improved the situation quite a bit within the cities at least.
On the highways however one is literally at the mercy of nature.
The thumb rule is to avoid very cheap transports and unreliable people and inform the bus driver/conductor beforehand to halt at any decent highway restaurant which has clean washrooms.
