this just came up in one of my auto playlists and i had to stop what i was doing bc i was so taken aback by this haunted house narrative in the middle of a playlist full of pretty run of the mill angst. 10/10 didn't even finish the track before adding it to my library

I think when listening to I the mighty, especially 111 Winchester, creates for me an nostalgia that my life should be in a place called Montclair, NJ, and to be honest, that’s where I started feeling the interests in the band and how the music is produced.

It's based on the Winchester house. It was built by the wife of the creator of the Winchester shotgun. She was driven slightly mad and felt guilty about her family's legacy from the guns. So she built a house with doors that led to nowhere, and once you went in it would be very hard to leave. It's rumored she built it this way because she believed it would be more difficult for the bad spirits to find her. Others say it was simply unfinished after her daughter died.

What is the deal with the locket and the matches? I still can't figure it out
The house is haunted and the locket has a photo of the haunter.
The matches are being given to him by the ghost, or maybe his past self? to burn down the house, and the locket has a picture of someone he knows in it, and at the beginning of the song he states the he knows a place up north where no one ever goes, but he knows it and obviously he's been there before or maybe grew up in the house? See this is what's perfect about this music, it can be interpreted in thousands of ways, yet they are all correct to the listeners
