Just want to say I love you guys And I so appreciate what you guys are doing! I’m a new to travel nurse and your videos were so encouraging when I was deciding to do it or not. Please keep sharing your knowledge and experience as it is truly so very helpful!!!
That's why no one makes videos on this stuff. It is so vague but can cost a lot of money if you mess it up. Everything we said can be fact checked with Travel Tax 😉🙌
Is there a dollar amount that I need to be paying in rent in Florida (let's say in Mom's house), while I'm travel nursing in California? Is is $1 in rent? $500 in rent? Thank you.
Good question - it's just whatever the fair market is for a room rental. A good place to look is on Facebook marketplace in the area of Florida your mom is in. When I do that here in Phoenix I get anywhere from $300-500. Remember, it's a room rental in a house not a one-bedroom apt that you are looking to match market value. We paid $300/month in KS.
I know you are not tax accountants. But coming up on my second year of travel nursing. The first year I didn’t start traveling until February so my first month of being in home state was covered. By now ending the second year and going back home for a month. Where do you show that on anything. You said keep receipts. But who do I show the receipts to? Is it just if audited?

I would just have an accountant do the taxes and let them be responsible!
Just make sure it's an accountant who is familiar with Travel Nursing. It's a different beast.
You are responsible, no one else.
