Bill and Patti were great together as Drew and Libby. The creator saw something with them and they nailed their screen test. As you can see here they weren't mad at each other yet and they played their parts perfectly, it's sad that they ended up hating each other later on because they were magic together onscreen. Too bad they just couldn't make it work in real life as friends.
