The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.
#graves #cemeteries #death
People forget or ignore the fact that vaccines have been saving lives for more than a hundred years.
I don't think that they have forgotten. I don't think they have ignored.
They are just IGNORANT of it.
Many think that the antibiotics have been around forever.
We are now a spoiled civilization, IGNORANT OF OUR PAST.
I lost a son, stillborn, I was devastated, can't image losing 3 children in 3 days. And then to go on and lose another 3 later. But I do know about losing a family, everybody. I lost 2 sisters, dad and mom within 7 yrs. Never expected to be the only one left, especially since both sisters were younger than me. But mom and dad could have related to this. They lost 3 daughters out of 4, granted only my older sister was a child.
Yet people still complain. 🤨
vaccines in the past were developed & research for years before offering to the public. Not less then a year.
@@mikemyers3382Exactly my friend!😊
Such a sad story. I am very familiar with Globe. I have family who live there. My uncle lives one street over from High St. His home was one of the first homes built in Globe in the 1800's. It has very high ceilings and the kitchen cabinets are huge and hard to reach without a stool. The old Globe jail is supposed to be haunted too. Thank you for this story, Ron. RIP to those family members.
Yeah I covered the jail story there and that’s one of the grand finale’s for Halloween, stay tuned - Sunday night just before Halloween it will air.
Such a terrible tragedy, i cannot imagine my whole family dying within a week. One day I have family next day I'm alone in the world. To those who survived, you are stronger than most everyone I know including myself. This would have killed my soul. R. I. P. To the family
You would be amazed at what we can endure. I have had great loss. I’m still going on strong. The pain never goes away of the loss. You just get through it. Just think of what the pioneers endured coming across the prairie. They lost family in accidents and babies died during birth and sometimes the mother. And yes, a lot of the women went insane just due to loneliness. The next farm was a long way off to have another woman to talk with. Times were and still are hard. But it is so surprising what we can endure. Take care.
Ron...thank you for your stories...my older brother lives in Tucson Az.
Hard times when most families lost many infants, the young so most everyone was living on the edge, just getting by the best they could.
@@JediJan very hard times.
@@donnaboisen6003 you are a strong woman Donna never forget that you have survived the worst multiple times, i admire and respect your strength and grief and getting through that grief. 🙏♥️🌹
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a plot where the grave markers are on an incline of concrete….
A tragic story for sure, and dying of a broken heart is very real. Both my mom and grandma passed away within weeks of each other, my grandpa was beside himself with grief. His health declined quickly and he passed not long after. I couldn’t imagine what this poor family went thru!
I feel that is true when it comes to broken hearts and long time spouses. My parents were married in 1973, and my dad passed on October 25th 2022 from Acute myeloid leukemia, 6 months later, on may 21st 2023, my mom passed from complications of bile duct and pancreas cancer. She immediately started throwing up after my dad died and after that she couldn't keep anything down and she didn't want to know what she had and would fight with the doctors about getting x-rays and cat scans, saying she didn't want to know. They even put on her file "failure to thrive", on her record at one point because they honestly couldn't figure it out without having those options to be able to see what was really going on. Finally, the last 2 months she was alive they figured it out by her allowing them to do a catscan and such. For a Lil pretext, my mom had a stroke in July of 2022, a few months prior from my dad passing and the doctors kept thinking it had something to do with that and her diabetes. My dad was 71 and my mom was 70.
I'm so sorry. Its a wretched grief when we lose our parents.
@pegs1659 thank you, yeah it really sucks. I was very close to both of my parents and still live beside their empty house. I really miss them.
I have three young grandchildren, and I am so happy there are vaccines for illnesses like diphtheria. I can't even imagine losing all three of them in a week's time. My grandmother lost two siblings in three days from the 1918 flu. The family pretty much fell apart after that. Not all people can handle such loss.
True
@@CL-we8tn Families didn't always march on after horrendous losses. Some gave up. My great-grandfather left his surviving family in North Dakota and moved to Idaho.
Thank ron for remembering the family!! My mom lost her brother when he was 2 years old to pneumonia in the 1930!!!!
The cemetery’s down in the south west are dirt or sand. Up here in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and other states are grass. That would take some getting used to living down that way.
Thanks Ron, we are so fortunate with our medical care these days. You really make these stories real. The parents were so stoic, and to be so long-lived after losing so many babies, one can only imagine what they went through.
Some of us seem to be thankful. Some still don’t want to use the vaccine’s & still put children at risk by sending their unvaccinated children to school & putting the children too young to get them at risk.
We have the same graves out here in Australia too Ron. One had five in the same family in a week. Another cemetery had a dr. S kids in it there were four in that one, sad to put the dr, name up but even dr.s couldn’t save their own kids. No miracle cure s back then. Thank goodness we live in a modern society with modern medicine and such.
Not only just the loss, but being at their bedside watching this terrible illness, the swollen and inflamed throat from diphtheria was horribly painful for the child and there was nothing for it such as aspirin or Tylenol. I don’t know if they used Morphine in that type of situation or not. Unimaginable 😢😢
This is quite different scenery - wise from what we're used to. The crunching sound under your feet is also new. One thing we continue to learn is that death, and the sadness it brings, is universal. Thank you for this reminder that loss is heartbreaking wherever it may be. Blessings from Michigan.
Hey Ron. My dad and his second family lived in Globe. Also my oldest brother. Some of my relatives are probably buried there. I was born in Miami AZ.
Thank you for the video. I get to see that area.
Sad story.😢
It wasn't completely unheard of for homes to be abandoned, burned or otherwise leveled because people believed the dwelling was cursed for assorted reasons.
Was that a crow in the background as you were telling the story? That's crazy timing.
Infant methemoglobinemia is also called “blue baby syndrome.” It is a condition where a baby's skin turns blue. This happens when there is not enough oxygen in the blood. Rest in peace to them all.
There is another type of blue baby. My aunt had a blue baby in the 50s. His was due to a heart defect. He died at 9hrs old. Now they can fix that defect. A heart defect was most likely the cause of Blue Baby Heron.
Thanks Ron. I've been to Globe a couple of times--most recently, this past June when I was on a route I was taking on a road trip. When you showed us the spot where you think the Heron family's house likely stood, I thought of an experience I had not too many years ago when I was hoping to see a house my great grandparents had lived in. I was with a friend who had put the address into her GPS in her car. As we came closer to the address, the GPS announced that we had arrived at the address on the right. It turned out to be an empty lot next to an old abandoned factory building. I think that once a building has been somewhere in a city, the address remains on the books so to speak--even if the house is torn down. Anyway, I'm happy that you are now in Arizona, as I really love it there and I am going to enjoy your tours of cemeteries around the state. The old cemeteries in the west are very interesting!
It 100% speaks well of this community in Globe, AZ that the Herons stayed, worked hard to rebuild their lives and even held prominent positions there after such tragic loss. What a wonderful supportive community indeed!!
Hello Ron I'm watching you from Tucson Arizona and I remember when I used to pass through globe and sometimes go into the rock shops. This is such a sad story about the families who lost so many children. May they all rest in peace. Thank you for sharing this story Ron
A really long time ago when my youngest son was a baby, I took him to have his first set of vaccinations. Another new Mom was there with her little one, a girl, so she was much more delicate and felt things much more deeply that my macho newborn boy. An idiot, in other words. Anyways, the two babies received their shots, and both screamed equally loudly and indignantly, and Girlmama weepingly said to the nurse "How can you stand to inflict such pain on these tiny children?" The nurse, an older lady who had seen it all answered, " I've nursed babies who died from diptheria. I have no poroblem at all." The best answer I have ever heard in my life.
Amen
The mom was the one allowing her to inflict that pain. So she was one to talk. 😂
Thank you so much Ron. Yes, this story is incredibly sad, but I'm so glad you did it. This family deserves to be remembered. Thank you to Deb as well ❤
Such a tragic story. But you narrated it so tenderly and beautifully.
Thanks, Ron. 🙏
Such a sad story. I can't imagine what those parents went through. Thank you, Ron, for honoring these poor souls. I hope they are all reunited now.
That's so tragic and heartbreaking. I couldn't imagine being in the parents shoes. RIP everyone
Such a tragic story. It is always sad to go to old cemeteries and see half a dozen or more small graves next to two parents.
"Bedfast" is an interesting word. As a writer, I'm always looking for new historically accurate vocabulary for my characters. Thank you for including that word in your video.
Hi Ron,
Please come back east to the Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware area. I lived in Williamsburg, VA. near the colonial area for almost 20 years, The grave of Ms. Evelyn Byrd (young lady from the 18th century) at Westover Plantation on the James River along route 5 to Richmond is hauntingly interesting and keeps drawing me back to her grave site. Many other very early graves n the area and in Williamsburg.
So sad😢😢😢 you are right about the times back then. I have walked cemeteries here in Tennessee and Virginia where I'm from and 4 5 6 children gone....my mom got diphtheria when she was 4 and survived😊😊😊. Thank you God. Take care and be safe.
Thanks to all involved in bring this story to the foreground. A whole family gone. No one to remember ...how sad. If not for you they would be "Faces of the Forgotten ". God bless and be careful.
This is so sad. I can’t even imagine the heartbreak and heavy grief they felt as they lost their children within three days of one another. Then to lose others the following years. May they all Rest In Peace. 💔🙏🏻
Such hard, tough times back then. People were made of sterner stuff, too. They just got on with it, while facing situations we can’t even begin to imagine. I hope the family is resting in peace. Thanks Ron x
Had to watch the replay, thanks Ron once again!
In the UK, we call it compulsary purchase order, the council can make you sell your property to them for redevelopment reasons etc.
Every story you cover is very interesting how these people of the past lived. Thankyou Ron for these stories.
Well Ron this beloved family ❤️ all went to heaven together, just different times but now all reside together, isn't that comforting to know your whole family is together and no one left behind to endure the sadness on this Earth, god bless all of you, your on a much better place, amen and thank you Ron, I live 20 miles from Globe, near Superior Az
Love superior, of course have to drive through there on the way to Globe and Miami. I did an episode about Mattie Earp there a couple of months ago
Thank you Ron and Deb for your research and story. So sad that families endured such hardship and loss of life to disease in early days
And I also say, I just did a little research of my old hometown, and found so many houses, buildings, places I remember have been torn down to make way for parking lots and business buildings. I know progress happens, but it’s sad to see the places of memories gone for good. Good video Ron, thanks Doug 🙋♂️🐈🐈
I actually never seen a cemetery out west before , definitely different than the traditional ones in the Midwest .❤ Rip the Heron family , very sad . Thank you Ron for sharing this tragic story 😢i love listening to stories you tell an the forgotten that passed
That had to be the worst thing to happened to a family We are so lucky right now to have the knowledge that we do I feel for that family may they rest in peace🙏🙏🙏🙏
What heartache the parents must have felt. There is a small rural cemetery near my home in upstate NY where four siblings aged 9,11,13, and 15 are buried. They died within 10 days of each other in February 1863. I’ve always wondered if they suffered fatal injuries in a house fire -- more likely it was influenza or a childhood illness. Someday I hope to find out the story behind this family’s tragedy.
After watching you exploring the area around the Great Lakes it is interesting to see you expand out into stories of the old west. Thank you for sharing these new, and always interesting stories, Ron. Greatly appreciated! ❤
Thank you Ron for the story you're so good at storytelling and then you take us there it is great
Imagine carrying each young child or infant 9 months and them loosing them so young or at birth. Definitely the mother had stamina but glad 3 children survived. RIP to all and yes, they are all united in heaven.
Free from all sickness may they all R.I.P,thanks Ron for a sad but interesting story, safe travels ,good health to you,👋👋🙏🙏👍🇦🇺
you are finding really good stories, keep it up ron!
I remember some time ago visiting a grave in a cemetery in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia, in which has 9 children within the same grave. They all died within a short time of each other in the 1800's.
Love you and your travels Ron. You never disappoint. Any Chicagoland trips soon?
I’ve shot 400 episodes in Chicago and I will not be going back. I think I’ve covered it 😄
My great-great uncle and aunt lost all five of their children to tuberculosis, over a short period of time. The parents succumbed to the illness and had a double funeral. One child was left, but he died shortly after. They were of Swedish decent and settled in Kansas.
I can’t imagine the pain and heartbreak that this family endured. Loosing one family member is hard but the entire family is devastating. We are fortunate to have medical care and medicine that can help us survive illnesses that once would be fatal. May they all rest in peace and rest in peace together, 🌸🌸🌸
Heartbreaking ❤ I am glad you remembered them Ron.
Tragic indeed! Thanks for honoring them Ron.
My grandmother was born in Globe!
Watching your video makes me want to take a trip to Globe. Looks like an interesting place.
Such a tragedy !! Thank you Ron may they all RIP. Awesome job with the story and video .
Wow what a tragic story but interesting, thanks Ron for sharing this and others you have done I enjoyed watching this.
So sad. Thank you Ron❤
Just saw this. Watching replay.
Thank you Ron, we are so fortunate to have cures for these disease’s now..may they all rest in peace❤❤
That is so sad and tragic. That poor family. The family is together again minus that awful illness. Thank you Ron for sharing this story. I wasn't familiar with this story at all. Take care, looking forward to your next video.
My best friend was raised there. I'm sure she went to that high school in the 80s. I got to go visit her mom, dad, sister and sister's family there. It was fun even though we got into a bad accident shortly after our arrival! I miss my friend!! I need to give back there!
The Grim Reaper truly did visit that poor family. It’s very sad about their home. I hate it when pieces of history are destroyed for something stupid like a parking lot.
Almost 550K!! Let's go guys!! Share this up to your friends & Family 😎👍
Good afternoon... wow what a story
Where you were standing might have been the very same air space that one of those family members occupied. That and when you walk down a street and think if you weren't there, that those same things would be happening....gives me chills sometimes.
That is a very sad story. RIP to the Heron family.❤
Imagine loosing all of your children in a couple of days, don't even want to think of it, beautiful cemetery, thanks for the walk, stay save.
So devastating. My eyes teared up with sadness. Thank you for your video's. God bless and stay safe.
Rest forever in peace for this family, who endured much but pressed on. Their son Floyd lived a long life, 1897-1987. Before vaccines, insulin and penicillin, many succumbed to viruses and bacteria and disease early in life. We take so much for granted nowadays.
Dont this tragic deaths...affect you...specially those of abused and murdered children...i cry so much after listening to their stories...you are awesome stay as real as you are
What a sad tale😢 all those babies lost. Mr and Mrs went on to live a full life in spite of the sorrow. RIP to all and they are together in Heaven 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Rest in peace to the family!
With that many Tragedies in one location. Yes, the land was & still may be cursed. Rest in peace, everyone. Stay safe Sir & everyone. P.s Something doesn't feel right, I am not sure why I feel as if someone may have cursed them for some reason. I am Northern Celt on my mother's side of the family & at times can sense things.
Very good narration at the start of the video telling us the history of this place and showing us the street view.👍
I can't imagine losing all my children. Losing one was bad enough.😢😢
Oh my goodness 🖤💔 how horrific to have lost that many children, then Millie 1 child is devastating enough .thanks for the video and visit to the cemetery !like to see the background and see mountains ,since we have rain ,humidity and mosquitoes here where I’m at😢💐🌹
Such a different time back then sad story thank's for sharing mate
Wow interesting history. But also so sad. Thank you for remembering them all. With much respect! May they all rest in peace ❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks Ron❤
Tragic story Ron, thanks for sharing. R.i.P 🙏 to them.
Wow that is heartbreaking..those pioneer people were so tough in so many ways...thank you Deb for helping Ron
My grandmother's little brother died when only a toddler from some sort of affliction (croup or dysentery) back around the early 1920's. He is buried in an unmarked grave in a small cemetery in Strawn, Texas. It is weird to go there and know he is there, somewhere.
Wow what a sad story! I hope they are resting in peace 😢 thanks Ron
Very sad!! Ron, your so adorable!! Thank you for all great content!!!! Stay safe!!!
I grew up in Star Valley, AZ (Payson, AZ area), north of Globe. There's a lot of history (good and bad) in Gila County.
Thank you for this story Ron. I’m come to realize the grim reaper has no heart😥
Thank you for this story, Ron. Globe is my hometown.
stay tuned for Halloween Sunday night, coming back to you there!!
@@FacesoftheForgotten Awesome! I will stay tuned.
You told us about the family with compassion. This was a tragedy poor family RIP to all those people who died and to the family too 🙏🙏💐
Such a sad story... They both lived such a long time and lost so much... I can understand dieing from a broken heart especially when you truly love someone. And losing all of there children the way they did...So sad😢😢
So very very sad. Poor wee babes.
I lost a daughter 2 years ago to cancer. She was 33. I know what the loss of one child feels like... I couldn't bear more.
Rest in everlasting peace to this family. Thank heaven we have the assurance of life ever after.
Love the train whistle ❤
Thanks, Ron ❤
So sad for this family. May they all RIP.
I hope that hole family is in peace and rested in peace. 🇺🇲☮️😇
Very interesting but sad story of a whole family wiped out by diphtheria. How sad!❤😢 Thanks Ron for remembering this family.
Hello, my friend! I recommend visiting the National Memorial Cemetery of AZ. especially around a holiday, such as Memorial Day, or, our upcoming Veteran's Day. It will certainly touch your heart. We live in AZ as well, and Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery is right next door, on N. Cave Creek Rd.. (My parents are there) and close by to them, lies Bill Keane, the famous cartoonist who wrote The Family Circus. We love his stone because it has all the characters from the comic etched in the stone. Very cool! Love your shows!
Sounds great, thanks!!
Excellent story! Keep on the great story teller you are Ron!
I love the sound of the trains over there 😊 great video thanks😊
my Aunt and Uncle lived in Globe. My cousins were born in Globe. I visited Globe in the early 70's . They moved away in 1972 to live in Lakeside, az . we moved to Lakeside in 1973 been through globe a lot, going to Phoenix.
My baby sister died 19th Dec 1962 aged 6 months old, a week before Christmas, same date as Villie Melissa, so sad these little people died 3 days in a row and right before Christmas, how does anyone get through the loss of one little one let alone 3? So tragic, thank you Ron for reminding us how heartbreaking it was back then with Diphtheria, so much to be thankful for now although the old diseases seem to be threatening xx
Thank you Ron for bringing us this story. This poor family was hit by more tragedy than i can imagine being able to cope with.💔 I was thinking that although i love imagining what it was like to live in past periods of history, there were deadly illnesses that swept through to which there was no remedy at the time. We live in an age that we take for granted i believe! rest in Peace to the Heron family.❤
Love the sound of the train
Heartbreaking. 3 days, 3 children gone.
Ron just love ❤️ your stories they are the best of history of knowledge of stories nobody ever tell because they weren't famous people. But you are here to let us know that this people are not forgotten thank Ron
When I saw "Blue baby", I thought the mom might have been RH negative. I say that because I was and had to get Rhogam injections to prevent me from having a stillborn or blue babies. RhoGam was not given till the 1960s.
Ron of all the excellent vids & story telling you have done this one to me is amongst the saddest. It has the mark of the paranormal. As someone who has lived in senior housing when death comes to call in multiple numbers it does feel like the grim reaper is walking in the area... By the way that skull you have at the end of some of your vids with that voice.... sends me each time! 😮😳 May all RIP🙏
Thanks for sharing this tragic heartbreaking story Ron 🧡 I hope the Heron family are all Resting In Peace after having lived through those painful times 🙏🙏🙏 Indeed we are so lucky to have all of the vaccines we do today. Everyone needs to be vaccinated so that the scourge of polio, etc will never return 🙏‼️🍁🧡🍂🎃
