Why does everyone have to compare them to other bands? I've been listening to Dope for years and they sound pretty original to me...
They are but you can see where they get some of it. They aren’t trying to be Marilyn Manson or Korn any more than Marilyn Manson trying to be David Bowie or Alice cooper. It’s just the way art works you are inevitably inspired by someone or something. Dope sound pretty original to me too and ten years later they still sound dope!
Jetsonic was that for me? Cuz I’ve hear more genres than I can count and like almost every style from rap to death metal to house and back to blues and jazz. So don’t just say stupid stuff without knowing a person.

Edsel would make a really good frontman for Static! Lol. Saw them live in Tempe 2019 and was blasted back to my childhood! Nu-metal at its finest. Highly recommend checking them out if they tour anywhere near you! Wayne would be beyond pleased with the static performance/tribute. Hopefully this will start a wave that will lead us back to music like this. Desperately need some new nu-metal on the scene!

I saw these guys a bunch of times back in the day... They were always super nice and played solid shows.

First saw these guys as the middle band at a Sevendust show in Toledo WAAAY back in the day. 1999 maybe? Tiny club next to a strip club. Me and a buddy were studying for some test in pharmacy school. Pharmacology or something. Decided we weren't going to know any more or do any better if we studied another 5 minutes or 5 hours, so we went to the show!! It took them forever to set up. Don't know what the problem was ... but it took like 45 minutes to get on stage after the opener. We were ticked off and muttering to each other about how they had better be worth the wait. They SO WERE!!! Just blew us away! I can still remember rolling around on top of the crowd (more like a ball than a surf) and getting front and center on the barricade later for a more up close and personal experience. Sevendust was their typical awesome selves, but that night Dope stole the show! I've always followed them after that. Just saw them with Hed PE (another criminally underrated band) last fall. Still selling out clubs! Still as awesome as ever.

Saw them live in Tempe a few weeks back and I can confirm! First stop on the tour. Had my suspicions and after seeing the performance it all adds up. First giveaway was being shorted on dope because, well, you know. They still fucking delivered though! Second giveaway was Edsel dopes body movement. Thirdly would have to be his distinct voice. If you get the chance, I would highly recommend going to see them! Took me back to childhood lol.

Why is everyone comparing dope to other bands? Yes this song and debonaire might not be the most original take on the nu metal sound. And yes this sounds a little bit like early MM. BUT if you actually take your time to listen to their albums you will realise they have a very unique and dark sound. I recommend listening to " Felons and Revolutionaries" and "American Apathy". Don’t get me wrong tho, i love this song \m/
