Ok... few things impress me, but the editing and knowledge required to make this is awesome... a lot of these moves I never even thought were tried, and some fo them I've been calling the wrong names. Elfi on NBC could use this as a tutorial, cause they gave up naming the moves at all. Good job!
I wish that the Korbut on bars was still performed. Is it banned now? I also wish for the next Olympics, the uneven bars would be set for belly beats (remember in the 70's/early 80's?). I thought the routines were so much more difficult and more interesting back then.
@trashywilma The Retton salto depended on those closer settings--and by the way, where was that move? Just goes to show that even those who aren't neccessarily known as bar specialists can innovate on this event!
my 8yo daughter perform a front giant from HB to direct handstand LB with half twist. Her coach neme it "Tarzan" but I don't think its the correct name for this skill. Can you tell my about?
Do you know where I can find the names of the basic elements that my daughter is learning so I don't seem like a bimbo parent in the gym like: pull-over, back-hip circle, cast, etc...
How is a double twisting layout dismount off the bars named a RAY?? its hardly an innovative move.......same for the full twisting geinger....thats also another name.....I think there should be limits to moves being named...fine if its original but not if its just 'bla de bla' with a full twist......
it's because Elise Ray was the first gymnast to perform that skill at an international competition at the level of a worlds or Olympics, which is how it used to be. Now I think any major FIG sanctioned event works (like the World Cups). Many skills are obviously performed prior to them being named...
Is it just me, or were bars more fun to watch when they were closer together in the 70s?
Great Montage good song choice!
best jager i've ever seen! it was so good. Great video!

I believe she was the first woman to do it, so it's innovative in that regard.
Am I correct that a Mukhina is like a full-twisting Korbut?
yes it is. sorry for replying over a decade after you posted this comment.
клевый! спасибо!
Yes.

I think it would also be cool to know what point value these get in the current code.

No, you're thinking of a Rulfova on beam. I think woofiegrrl was asking about Korbut's backflip on bars, which Mukhina competed with a full twist.
Wow that's an awesome dismount! Any videos that show it?
