I’m a new IT. Will be switching from Workgroup server to Active Directory Domain Server, is this still the same steps? Or any inputs? Will I need a Client Access License for this setup?
Hi, the video covers the ADDS installation process which takes a server from being a stand alone server (workgroup) to a domain controller (domain). Clients joining a domain will usually require CALs.
Hi,Thank you for show video. You have taught me how to install AD. It was very good and simple. Continue doing what you are doing. Thank you for helping me. JESUS CHRIST and GOD bless you and everyone else in existence.
Thank you very much for the simplicity in your approach. You got the gift to impact and share knowledge. I have subscribe and I will be watching your other videos.
Thank you so much for your tutorial, i appreciate it but one thing is bugging me, i have restarted my windows server 2008 when i changed the name of my computer. Actually im using virtual box to run the said OS. It asked me to press ctrl + alt + delete but it just routed me to the task manager. I dont know how to get into my windows server again. How could i fix this one?
Hi, if you press ctrl + alt + del this will bring up task manager on the host. For a virtual machine in virtual box press 'host' (right ctrl) + del key.

Ron Msingo Hi, ideally applications should be installed on a member server, a server that belongs to the domain but isn't running ADDS. A common problem you can encounter is applications setup with the local admin account. Its usually best to install applications after you have your domain and users & groups setup.
Hi, absolutely right '.local' or 'dummy domain names' are not a good idea in production environments. Fine for a test lab for students learning. The suggested best practice is to use a sub domain of a public registered domain name. This is something I talk about in more detail in the video link: th-cam.com/video/gWJ99vN7Q60/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for explaining it in a much better way.
Much appreciated.
Thanks very much, I'm glad you found the video helpful.

Hello, I am using virtual box and I do not find the Local Area Connection listed.. how to fix?
Can I just set a static IP address even without network and get through with the dcpromo configuration?

.local... bad idea. You can't get any kind of a SSL cert. non-authoritative domains are no longer supported.
