Excellent tutorial, the only difference with mine is that I prep cane sugar syrup by cooking the sugar with some water. It doesn't need to dissolve in the drink anymore. Serves quicker if you not need to show the drink being made. And i like the sweetness of the cane sugar. Good that you explained how the handle the mint in and on the glass. My compliments!
Had the pleasure to attend a couple of courses hosted by Miles. Without a doubt one of the most brilliant men I've ever met. A seasoned and very expert old school bartender who does not focus on Flairing or skill show offs. He only focuses on the most important thing: to entertain the guest and make sure they have a great time. Incredibly professional, funny, sarcastic.
I think this is one of the better instructional Mojito videos that I have seen. The only problem I have is the ice. Because there is so much ice it creates weird proportions with the club soda, making a strong ass drink. Which is fine if that's what you're going for I guess. I would just rather have a moderately strong, semi-full drink than a shot of rum with a half shot of club soda splashed on top. The ice won't melt fast enough to make a difference.

This is excellent. Finally a recipe that doesn't screw up the mint with muddling. Perfect! I just made it exactly as indicated. Delicious! And the only thing I DID muddle, was the sugar and it dissolved like nothing. No grittiness and no bitter leaves.
So many people on either extreme of either "I hate it, this is wrong" or "OMG best ever" just make the damn drink or don't! I like the instruction on this one, I personally like the muddle and a bit less sugar to really get the flavor of a good white rum and a fresh mint. I've never slapped the mint rather I carress it and give each leaf a little kiss. Sarcasm of course, but I like a good variation. Good video sir.
Great mojito technique! I once ordered one in Newcastle and the bartender put the mint in a shaker. I nearly vomited at the sight of this. Then I had the pleasure of drinking bits of tiny broken mint. Then green teeth...
i use a caipirinha glass 430ml cut a half lime in to 6 pieces use(add 2cl limesirup) 2 barspoons brown sugar, muddle the lime with the sugar, put some soda water on it then put the mint leafs in, dont muddle the mint leafs just tapping with my hand on in, top it with crushed ice and fill the glass with rum (havana 3 ). Stir it good! then use two or three more lime pieces(put it in the glass) and the top of the mint leafs to dekorate, to make it rich! Cheers!
Having been to some of the best and most famous bars in Havana I can assure you they use Havana Club never Bacardi, icecubes in stead of crushed ice, leave the whole twig intact in stead of using plucked leaves and they add a couple of drops of Angostura.
this guy is a real pro. stop saying about sugar syrup... it will make the cocktail watery. Since caster sugar can be disolved, there is no use to put syrup. also the mint, if you muddle it smells like grass. Just a good swizzle and it's perfect
Question? Half the videos I have watched Muddles the mint in the bottom of the glass, and the other half of the videos are similar to how you make Mojito. Why don't you gently muddle? Please advise?
Muddling the mint doesn’t make it bitter… unless you have old mint that’s turning dark. Get some fresh mint and don’t be lazy and muddle it. Then filter it to remove the little pieces (unless you like it) and finish the drink and garnish. I make the best Mojito! I need to make a video, but I don’t know if I want to share exactly how I do it all lol
I believe the lime juice is enough without adding the wedges. He uses fresh lime juice so its effectively the same thing. It's a lively mojjto, but as a bartender I cringe when someone orders this drink. It's such a project to make.
Bacardi ???? NO.... Use Agricol Rum, not Bacardi. Industrial rum is not the best for flavor and finesse. There is too much ice also and not enough sparkling water. For finish, put 2 straws but cut one a bit, it's show a better look. Assymetric visual tips. ^^
i don't agree^^ this is quite similar my way doing a mojito..only diff. is: i slap the mint before adding it into the glass to release the mint-oils and add a splash of simple mojito-mint-syrup! this drink is perfectly balanced! too much soda destroys the taste of that classic bestseller...and what crap is cutting the 2nd straw? xD so every customer is loosing it after the half of the drink^^ this is really a big show xDD ...france guys often use agricol^^ but i think everybody has to choose his favorite rum and/or flavor in it by himself..if this is yours, ok, why not^^ i'll gonna check a mojito with agricol soon... ;)
Jazz MC Yes sure, every body have his skill and method. The better is than the customer is happy. But.. When the customer know what he drink and know how it's make.... it can be not very nice for the bartender.
The more ice the less dilution in the drink as it doesn’t melt as fast. Every drink will be measured out to the correct specification to ensure a good quality tasting cocktail.
Rum from Puerto Rico? I mean if you don’t know better don’t say anything, Bacardi is a rum from Cuba OMG, so how can I believe you anything else of what you say?
I am going to be a mixologist when I grow up!
Are u mixologist now?
hey what happened to our future mixologist?
Don't do it!!
Yeah kinda agree with those that advice you not to be a mixologist. In my country, working inside a bar is the lowest job in the F&B line.

How much sugar syrup did you use?
Drinking a nice mojito is nothing like watching someone making one. :)
Best coctail in the world!
Finally!! when I see bartenders smashing the mint to bits I go mad.

This is excellent. Finally a recipe that doesn't screw up the mint with muddling. Perfect! I just made it exactly as indicated. Delicious! And the only thing I DID muddle, was the sugar and it dissolved like nothing. No grittiness and no bitter leaves.
Mmm the fresh mint has grown back. I know what I'm drinking today for Drinko de Mayo!

That's one beautiful looking drink.
i like adding a few spearmint leaves along with the mint leaves , it's out of this world

Try crushing lime suger and mint together - add rum and stir again - different effect. Try it.
excellent 'how to' ...enjoyed my first attempt...great relief from this July heat!
i use a caipirinha glass 430ml
cut a half lime in to 6 pieces use(add 2cl limesirup) 2 barspoons brown sugar, muddle the lime with the sugar, put some soda water on it then put the mint leafs in, dont muddle the mint leafs just tapping with my hand on in, top it with crushed ice and fill the glass with rum (havana 3 ). You can’t get Havana club in USA. Bacardi used to be a Cuban company but they left.
this guy is a real pro. stop saying about sugar syrup... it will make the cocktail watery. Since caster sugar can be disolved, there is no use to put syrup. also the mint, if you muddle it smells like grass. Just a good swizzle and it's perfect
In America we use: Demerara (.5 oz) lime juice (.5 oz), 8 plucked mint, and 2 oz lime, shaken served with dirty ice.
Wow! I did not realize mojitos had so much sugar in them!
Yups actually it is 3 barspoons brown sugar not a caster sugar 😉
The caster sugar is nothing compared to the RUM its self - it’s fermented sugarcane molasses !!!
@@drdrew3 Rum does not have sugar in it lol unless its added sugar my friend. The yeast eats the sugar which then creates the alcohol.
Nice. Love from here❤️💜
Was perfect.. Before crushed ice and bacardi rum
Excellent
I JUST made this and I love it!!!!! Mojitos are one of my favorite lady drinks!!!
+Martinique757 They are indeed the bee's knees
Martinique757 I wouldn’t call it a “lady drink” it is just a good drink all around
This is the best tutorial i saw about mojito.
Just one question: Isn't that way too much ice?
*****
Is there a reason?
thanks! :)
great

I could really use one of those right now
Turkey Man same here!!!
muchas gracias por el grupo de mixologos por este video no entiendo ingles pero entendi muy bien ojala sigan subiendo mas videos
Bueno!
You ain’t have to beat the mint like that 😂
Is it ok if i replace rum with soda since i can't drink rum?
So many bartenders here in the comments saying do this don't do that 😂 just make ur own mojito video and post it in YT
That’s it, that’s the way to do it
I never learn hit the glass rim by long bar spoon
Is demerrera sugar ok for a mojito?
Question? Half the videos I have watched Muddles the mint in the bottom of the glass, and the other half of the videos are similar to how you make Mojito. Why don't you gently muddle? Please advise?
The difference is in the use of whole limes to muddle or using juice. For consistency we use lime juice as it removes the likelihood of over muddling
we have found that to ensure you get consistent results by using juice as people tend to use different amounts of energy when muddling the limes
This video was so satisfying
Please more cocktail's videos!

Normal bacardi

ilove mojito

Yummy
bacardi is "originaly" from cuba,,,now is from puerto rico. (since castro brother dictatorship)
That’s a lot of crushed ice!
A glass full of ice 🤣
Where do you learn to prepare mojito?? It's nasty

'today i'm gonna be learning' ?
in the bar i work at, we make our own syrups and invent our own cocktails
you are an idiot and a liar
If anyone ever wants to know why mojitos should be illegal ... just watch this video. Holy shit
That spilling of rum is not justified..lol..
That's how you make ice
Can I ask why you don't put lime wedges into the finished drink? Is it because they are unnecessary?
I believe the lime juice is enough without adding the wedges. He uses fresh lime juice so its effectively the same thing. It's a lively mojjto, but as a bartender I cringe when someone orders this drink. It's such a project to make.
Wedges are used when you crush them in the glass directly using a muddler, releasing the lime juice from it.
Wrong! The lime, sugar and mint should be muddled in the glass.
muddling the mint makes the drink way too bitter..
@@Einar979 the point is to release the oils without mashing the leaves into till they look like roadkill...
Nope
There is not one sole right way to make a drink. If you ask 10 different bar tenders how to make a drink you will probably get 10 different answers
It seems like you forgot the Angostura Bitters.
Perhaps it still in Venenzuela.
Your doing it wrong!
You splilled a lot of rum.
I noticed... the same
Bacardi is from Cuba...
Fist thing I said!!
that mint looks like lettuce

He did not measure the ice 😅
I do not belive caster suger is aviable in many places around the world.
The ice is perfect it’s too much mint. I’m sure it is delicious though. Great video
Too much ice but aside from that...cool
Brown sugar
Wrong you need to muddle lemon chunks and mint
"Don't damage the mint while stirring" - says just after destroying the mint universe. I can see pieces of it in the glass, poor mint.
Is he making a slushie? Too much ice!
what the hell is this? A granita? All you get is chipped ice and a vague aftertaste of mint in lime juice. meh
Why did you squeeze lemons? It will become lemonade instead of mojito if we squeeze lemons. We want just the taste of lemon.
Twat
It's a lime
Bacardi ???? NO....

You don't slap the mint with your hands, you are wasting the aromas....that's the wrong way to do it.
agreed. always gently muddle it in the glass
Why so much ice? Seems ridiculously excessive. Only reason I can think of is to give the customer way less drink for their money.
The more ice the less dilution in the drink as it doesn’t melt as fast. Every drink will be measured out to the correct specification to ensure a good quality tasting cocktail.
@@Mixologygroupuk Id rather just have a chilled glass, or use a reusable ice cube. I don't want to pay for half a glass of ice. Big ripoff
Too much Ice
i would never take ur mojito at the bar
😂😂😂😂 wtf is it with these bartendars stirring it, just shake it like a man and blend those ingredients twice as better especially the mint.
this is waaaayyy to wrong!!!

Didn't muddle
A yummy drink that's not hard to look at either!? nice! Is it just me or did the final ingredient list miss the club soda?
