I remember being pissed too because Liu Kang was my favorite character, and now i had to find a new main to use. I didnt believe they actually killed him until i actually got to the character select screen and he wasnt there,lol. That really set the tone for the game and let you know that the Deadly alliance was not to be fucked with and meant business. The game wasnt the best but i do actually liked the bold steps they took in a lot of ways with it.
Liu Kang may have been the champion of 2 Mortal Kombat tournaments but narratively speaking, he always took a backseat to Scorpion, Sub-Zero, & Raiden.

For me it was the voices in the background which I think were meant to sound like wandering souls being captured by Shang Tsung. It wasn't the music at all, just the noises.
@@inversed6240 I got 15 starting with blaze and mokap I had beaten the konquest last week, I really liked the mechanics in this and deception, in the new ones I dont like how you have to rely on cor er combos, carry combos and hit stun, makes all fights the same and it gets pretty stale pretty quick imo
There was an eeriness to MK back then that's just missing from the newer games. I remember I used to be terrified whenever I saw a fatality since MK2. Now, even though the combat is better, it just feels like a bloodier MCU movie.
The atmosphere and lore definitely started feeling more like MCU after the reboot. I wish they'd go back to the edgy and gritty way 3d era was and ditch the way the story modes are designed while at it

Funny memory of me being a dumb ass teen while playing this game: I was playing this game back in 05 because Deception has yet to come out. I got hyper for some reason and once I go on the character screen and hear this song, I feel like I want to kick ass. I turn the volume up, get up and throw some punches and kicks in the air because I'm thinking I'm badass. I run across the room doing a half-ass jump kick, I crash into the cabinet and it falls on top of me. While I'm down there thinking what the fuck was I thinking, the game chose Bo Rai Cho for me. How coincidental because Bo Rai Cho was a drunken idiot and I was a teenage idiot. Those good ol' days.

I remember back in 2002 when my cousins showed me and my older brother Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and Grand Theft Auto Vice City on the PS2 when I was 4
I remember when I think I was like 5 or 6 when I got this possibly younger and this game piqued my interest. I didn't know how to play fighting games before so I would usually spam moves like and idiot (I still lose of course). I couldn't care less about the fatalities and I didn't even understand what was going on in the game. What I did know is that this is my first MK game and I fell in love with the series the moment I played it.
The stakes were higher in this game than in MKX. Liu Kang was dead so everyone had to fight without him only to be killed at the beginning of the next game. The Deadly Alliance were not kidding around.

Kinda disagree. They look ugly and goofy to me. I still love this era but it's not very scary or intimidating to me. Especially when this game had Cooking with Scorpion. LOL

Crazy that this game was not only the first game Liu Kang was not playable, but this game lead to the events of Deception, Armageddon, 9, X and 11
I think Deception was the last "good" character selection song. Deception, Deadly Alliance, MK4, MK3, MK2, and MK1 all had great songs. MKA, MKvsDC, and MK9 were all meh in terms of the music on select screen. Hope MKX brings it back.

mk x has a good one but deception has the best and most EVIL one of them.
This is the only title that got Quan Chi CORRECT. Scary af, looks bad ass, is dangerous and mostly never looses hand to hand combat.
This is one of those tracks that I just have to start from the beginning a 2nd time. It's so good.

@@danm1870That's what I liked about MK in the Midway timeline. They stuck to their guns, and let Liu Kang stay dead. No disrespect to Liu Kang, he's my favorite, but I really respected Midway for going "Yeah, the main hero is dead. Now let's see how the good guys handle it."

KENSHI... Probably the best received new character from that game. Heck Kenshi is my all time favorite, followed closely by Smoke, Sub-Zero and then Scorpion

I remember back in 2002 when my cousins showed me and my older brother Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance and Grand Theft Auto Vice City on the PS2 when I was 4
Brings back great memories.
I remember when I think I was like 5 or 6 when I got this possibly younger and this game piqued my interest. I didn't know how to play fighting games before so I would usually spam moves like and idiot (I still lose of course). I couldn't care less about the fatalities and I didn't even understand what was going on in the game. What I did know is that this is my first MK game and I fell in love with the series the moment I played it.
Perfect for a Legend of Korra battle plan.

The stakes were higher in this game than in MKX. Liu Kang was dead so everyone had to fight without him only to be killed at the beginning of the next game. The Deadly Alliance were not kidding around.
This game scares me as a child but admits that it was worth being afraid of these excellent graphics of the time 😎👌
