  • Here is a September Plane Spotting video from the busiest airport in Maine featuring : DC3T, B752, MD90, B712, A320's, B737's and way more! I really enjoyed my time spotting in PWM! The great locations to watch planes and the air traffic diversity make this airport an interesting one for spotters. What is your favorite aircraft in the video? Thank you guys for watching and I hope you enjoyed the compilation :)

    I’ve operated the Delta Connection/Endeavor CRJ-200 into PWM several times. The harbor visual approach, especially at sunset, is absolutely stunning. Great video!

      Thanks for the comment :) Any idea why 29 arrivals are doing this weird approach? I'd be interested to understand why they don't have a RNAV or ILS on 29 instead of this one.

    • @mgroh5564
      @mgroh5564 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      YQBspotting - For runway 29, an ILS and RNAV approach both exist, but on either side of the harbor are noise sensitive areas. So when the weather is appropriate, we are cleared for the Harbor Visual that takes us between islands and down the harbor to minimize our noise footprint.

    What a wonderful little jetport! My faves were the DC3 (obviously) & the Beech 99 that preceded it. Great variety of shooting positions & I love the sunrise at the beginning. Particularly the fog in the backdrop

    Nice video. It makes KPWM almost look like a kind of a busy airport. I live 2 miles from it and it's not a very happening airport these days. When 11/29 was closed this summer and fall for a stint for construction, watching all this stuff use the shorter 18/36 was very interesting but seeing our FedEx A300 heavy and 757's using the short runway always drew a lot more eyes. 5600' for landing and 6100' for takeoffs especially for the big stuff along with the crosswinds was a good show.

    • @YQBspotting
      @YQBspotting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rough timming in aviation... It must have been very interesting to see when 11/29 was closed! The airport looks quite busy in my video cause I wanted to get pretty much all the regulars. Thanks for the comment :)

    • @Matt-mo8sl
      @Matt-mo8sl 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YQBspotting Yup, you did a good job capturing it and making look good. The approaches to 18/36 are RNAV approaches so they are not precision ILS approaches so the minimums are less. Seeing a commercial jet breaking out of the clouds coming into a short runway in a crosswind was fun to watch. When you go spotting again, go out on a windy day when 18/36 is the prime runway so you can catch the short field stuff. Your perch from what appears to be on the top of the parking garage should be a great place to catch some good video.

      I worked there for a couple years awhile ago and the only time I have ever seen 18/36 used for anything other than GA aircraft was when we had really bad crosswinds on 11/29. Was kind of fun seeing a JetBlue a320 take off from there.
