I love how in terms of structure and layers, prog rock (such as Pink Floyd) is so close to classical music. The same with metal. It's very close to classical, too. No wonder prog rock and metal are my two favorite genres after classical. So much emotion and raw power.
First time I watched the Wall, I was 9 years old, it was in 1988. My father was a sailor and he brought the tape secretly on the ship through the border of USSR. He could be jailed by that time. For freedom of speech and for freedom of thoughts you need to pay whatever the price. Unfortunately USA and UK not the same as it was. Now GAGA is ruling the world....( Great music. Thanks.
I bought this CD back around 96-98. I was on a big Pink Floyd kick at the time. When I heard this particular piece, I was astounded. It cemented my appreciation and love for all music in general. It moves the soul, transforms the mind and fills the heart. Music IS life
Note also, yhe dramatic 3rd verse with the whole orchestra playing together in a crescendo then as the last chorus starts the volume drops only build up to the end.
This is the best Orchestra cover of Comfortably Numb ever! The reason why it is the best is: the arrangement didn't put any rock element in it like: drum, electric guitar. It's all pure orchestra elements! Very clever and smart and also arty!!! You can compare other orchestra versions, they are just right beside and they are not smart. No drum, no electric guitars please if you want to go for an orchestra cover !
You know, I've heard a lot of people say that "rock is junk, whilst classic music is forever". In my view, it's just a matter of being in the right timeframe. If Roger Waters & Dave Gilmour had been contemporaries of Beethoven or Tchaikovsky, they would be hailed as genius, on par with the composers of Ode to Joy or Capriccio Italien. Comfortably Numb is a masterpiece, and therefore defeats time itself. A great song, performed perfectly. It's shame PF is no more. I miss them big time.
wow man, finally, thank you. I was looking for that for a while now. I bought that original CD more than 12 years ago but lost it. I was waiting for someone to upload it to youtube. I hate PF covers, usually, but the philarmonic just gives it a new look smell and touch. Absolutley beatiful.
This is brilliant! I found this CD in my basement, but it was all scratched up. And this song is completely f***ed up. So I'm glad I found this on youtube!
love it! though a little bummed that they didnt to the final solo. these are like well known for including the solos, and i feel like the final solo is the real climax of the song and would have sounded amazing with an orchestra. oh well still beautiful
This is Brilliant!!! Perfection is hard to match but the did a great job!!! Just like the french guys... You really should listen to this one as well... watch?v=JQBYsrSiV6I
@rolandbrookscooke The problem is pop music. This money-driven product for the tasteless devalues modern music with huge artistic significance such as the Floyd.
Very good playing, not really good "interpretation"... It misses the feeling of the original part, and there is no ending solo!!! Sorry, but I was a little bit disapointed...
The goosebumps that come over my entire body when the violins start playing!! ❤❤

I know a lot of Pink Floyd songs sound like they were classical songs originally.
Humanity is pretty awesome sometimes
I don't know how the strings were able to capture Gilmour's style, but I love it.

My best friend Sir Patrick Leslie passed away on 11/03/2020. This was his favorite songs. His ashes are at Leslie Castle in Scotland.

The call and answer between the flute and horns is great. A real eargasm
Note also, yhe dramatic 3rd verse with the whole orchestra playing together in a crescendo then as the last chorus starts the volume drops only build up to the end.
I CAN ONLY FEEL SO MANY FEELINGS IN FIVE MINUTES AND SOME CHANGE. HOO BOY THIS JERKED THE TEARS
You know you succeed in the game, when you got an orchestra playing covers for you songs. Simply Superb. Congrats.

John Sneddon i bought it back in knee 1997 n it still gives me chills! Such a moving piece of music!
@@Auntiestoner 2019 and still gives me chills
That segment gives me goosebumps every single time I hear it
This arrangement is an order of magnitude more awesome
BEAUTIFUL and oh those solos.
A testament as to why Pink Floyd is arguably the best rock band of all time. Their compositions are of true orchestra caliber.
Beautiful version of Comfortably Numb

Just frozen. This has a hypnotic quality to it.
Extremely impressive orchestral performance of one of the greatest Floyd songs. Thumbs up.
This arrangement is magnificent.
And I am about to cry... 🌷🌷
2:57 the power and emotion, pouring over you. All these years later I still can't get enough of this.
I love this one, always been my favorite. I just can’t find this version on streaming 😭😭

This was always a great alternate universe with Floyd
It's music. You know, sound.
fantasticoooooo!
@16Engine22Truck If anything can, it will surely be music like this
Yes I am !
Has anyone heard their version of The Sex Pistols' Anarchy in the UK arranged for celeste, harp and strings? It's looovely.
Where can I buy this complete CD ?
Pretty good, but how can you not have the outro solo in this?
Is anybody (still) out there...
I'm disappointed they didn't bother with the second guitar solo and just kept repeating the same thing.

You're welcome.
And you English is fine :)
0 dislikes. Just like it should be.
its sad its missing the climatic gilmour solo but otherwise quite moving
@35882542 you spell better than most english speakers. ;)
They didn't even attempt the second solo. Dissapointing. Their version of "Time"'s awesome thougb.
Jaz Coleman improved the half decent PF song into this.

DEAD & Co.
I see how they handled Gilmore's solo at the end...they deleted it. A little disappointed, but then again, maybe it couldn't be interpreted properly.
Very good playing, not really good "interpretation"...
It misses the feeling of the original part, and there is no ending solo!!!
Sorry, but I was a little bit disapointed...
This is terrible; it doesn't even sound like the actual song.
more then beautiful..
