I'm impressed by the Sumi people's initiative. Some say we should preserve our culture, but that doesn't mean going back to our past ways. As Christians, we've been transformed and should reflect that in our actions. Tradition is about celebrating our heritage through our clothing, dance, sports, weaving, and food.. not just drinking and parties. Let's showcase our rich culture with pride and love.
I'm not sumi but I fully support sumi's Good work n I think if all the people learn good lesson from sumi then I hope Hornbill festival will be very grateful.
The respective Sümi Church Associations should apologise PUBLICLY for the statement they made in the Newspaper tainting the image of Ino Shiwoto, President, Sumi Hobo Kohima. Also, Apologise to all the Sumis of Kohima. If the accusation is founded solely on heresay and lacks substantive evidence, the resulting defamation is unwarranted. In such circumstances, the concerned associations involved must issue a formal and SINCERE apology to rectify the damage caused. Rice beer is a part of our food culture. And nobody is shoving it down your throat. So, SELL and attract the visitors. Isn't that what's Hornbill festival is for??? I don't think RICE BEER falls under NLTP act! Sumis of Kohima are preparing earnestly for the upcoming Kohima Sumi Hoho Jubilee as well as Church Jubilee next year. And you, the church leaders big shots who made false clarifications will be the ones speaking of heaven and earth. NB: First do away with church politics openly being practiced and come clean!

Other tribes should learn from Sumi, Kuki ... etc. and not to promote Rice beer rather we should promote Christian way of life. I THINK ONLY SUMI AND KUKI MORUNG DO NOT SELL ALCOHOL
for those viewers new or old who had witness Hornbill festival in Naga Heritage village so far ,the SumI tribe had never encourage Sell of Liquor in the heritage village to do marketing or gatter crowd .we do believe we can show case our ethnic tradition & food habits ,without including Local Brew drinks in it , that how we showcase our Sumi ki(Morung).
Please encourage other tribes to avoid extortion and robbery as well. Why only in hornbill festival? Come to Dmp, every motto seller in water bottle shop is sumi or either involved. I am not here to hate any tribe but can't digest the level of hypocrisy displayed by our tribesmen in this festival.
Restriction of selling Zutho in a Morung for 10 days is really a good sign for Christians but outside the Morung and 355 days what are the tribe's people doing in our land!!!! The tribe should restrict Foreign liquor syndicate, tax collection, factionalism etc, etc. in the state .
Traditional culture and churches are far different, so my point of view is it's better if we don't compare tradition culture to Christan practice. Rice beer 🍺 is also important part of traditional practice, there are many traditional practice which is totally against Christan society, so it's better let traditional practice do their practice and churches should not interfere in traditional practices.

Yes I've witnessed it and this is practiced every hornbill festival..Sumi focus on their Food stall ,we don't sell any kind of beers alcohol 🤝Proud moment ❤
Right step taken by Sumi Hoho We were head hunters.. but doesn't mean we still practice head hunting to keep our tradition alive.. likewise indulging in alcohol during festivals were part of our tradition during our forefathers time but it doesn't mean we still continue the same tradition
Only Sumi community knows and follows the ethics of Murong well. As far as my information on Murong is concern, the house and its surrounding deserves some respect and due honour by one n all even today. God bless Sumi.

Just because our forefathers use opium shall we also allow uses of opium at hornbill. There are culture and practices which needs to be discarded.
