Revisiting MoP through remix, even with new talents, made me realize how great MoP truly was (it was already my favorite), but it felt like coming home.

Wrath was when I started and MoP was the peak of enjoyment I had with WoW, it was when I got into raiding with a guild I had lots of fun with, talking for hours over vent. The expansion's story was great, the Monk class was my go to high bred class. Fantastic mobility, with decent healing, and tank soaking skills as a DPS. I got my first legendary cloak, I miss the periodic glow effect of the cloak. When bored I would kite Devilsaur to the shrine, and watch them kill afk players. I miss those days.

What made MOP work was how it treated the horde and alliance as the characters. With the named NPCs as individual parts or expressions of those characters. Assemble films do this a lot. It's what made the first Avenger's film work so well if you wanna talk about the "marvel-ifitaction". By keeping the focus on the horde and alliance as the main characters the players who were treated as part of those factions would more easily connect to the story and its lessens.
In Shadowlands it felt like we the players were mostly hanging around the afterlife while Anduin and Sylvanes got their story told.

I would love if Anduin's arc leads him back to Pandaria some time soon, so many lessons learned and needing to be refreshed.

I think a small questline back there would be fine, but I'd hate for an expansion to taint fond memories there.

I was just thinking, Anduin should talk to Chi-Ji again, since he is feeling a lot of despair and Chi-Ji represents hope.

The guy in the chat was correct
Taran-Zhu gets corrupted by the Sha of Hatred in the Shado-Pan monastery, the Sha of Violence happens to be there aswell as a boss
Then you cleanse him of the sha and he's killed later in the Towlong Steppes questlines

This might be the case if people actually read the questlines. So many out there just run through story content to get to end game content, just to gloss over that to run through mythic+ dungeons as fast as possible. Then complain about the "bad" storytelling.

Wish they would do what eso did with their world. The entire thing dungeons included, scale to max. That's 20 years of content if blizzard did it

Redoing a dungeon at max level that drops a trinket with a cool ability so that it’s a max level version would be cool. I love trinkets that spawn dragon welps and other things to fight at your side for a while.

@C00Cker it's similar but imagine if you didn't have to go I to a different mode. It's just there and scales up.

Lore-wise, it was okay. The problem was mechanics and game design post-Legion, and they did nothing to correct those issues until barely the end of the expac.

The way i see it, is that World of Warcraft has gone from a Lord of The Rings kind of movie/story to a Marvel kind of movie/story.
And i'd love for it to go back

Something I just noticed: Pandaria and the Dragon Isles are only places on Azeroth said to be 'alive'. I wonder if that means anything relating to the Earth Mother. Though both could easily be projections of the Old Gods as well. I"m just very sus of places that tend to have a lot of bug looking creatures there (The AQ's (includes Feralas, Un'goro, Tanaris, and south Barrens), Thaldraszus, AN/Old Kingdom, Hellfire and the Dread Wastes.)
On a sorta related note: I also noticed that the last boss of AQ 20 looked a lot like the keepers/titian forged. got me thinking the Titans can't make new souls and therefore used these constructs from Black Empire. (there's also sphinx looking guys who look like they ended up as Tol'vir)

Honestly, WoW needs to move ahead after the Worldsoul Saga is wrapped up. By that I mean a time skip of like 10 years. Thrall kids should be teenagers. Baine should have had kids. Moira's son is starting to learn how to be king of the dwarves. We start seeing the foundation of the next generation in these next expansions (after worldsoul).

The RPG is lost in story lines revolving around this major lore cast Thralls, Jaina's etc. It's always THEM it's always about them our characters are like hand holders of this major lore guys and their lives diminishing their grandeur. Back in the day, this major lore characters where part of the WORLD, they were NPCs that were located inside a castle, standing there all mighty followed around by elite soldiers who answered to them. We didn't share what they went through on personal levels we could only read or hear about their exploits. They were faction leaders, famous heroes of old, superstars of Azeroth everyone knew their heroic deeds. They looked powerful and WE were under them in hierarchy it felt like that.

An example of this zooming in and forgetting the actual politics is reclaiming gilneas quest, mainly the part when genn s daughter tells him “oh dad u built the wall cuz its an emotional wall blabla”
Its TRASH, i dont even like genn but he is one of the most politically charged alliance leaders, he has a , wall i guess, of intrigue and failings as a king before his race was even playable. There is so much political and military hiccups and shades of grey in gilneas wall and what that meant and reducing it to genn being avoidant (which ok he is but whatever) is just plain reductionist and stupid.

I agree with some of this but I simply cannot agree with the idea that us being on the same level as the 'hero characters' is contributing in any way to the feeling of the world not being there.
    You cannot.
    Period.
    Ever.
Write a story where we save the world 25 fucking times and still pretend we are just pawns.

    • @KingMidgardsormr

this is to say that world of warcraft needs to build a story around us actually being a MEMBER of the cast, and not a tool in their toolset against whatever the threat is.
I.e. how the warrior of light is actually the main character of the story and actually has friendships with the characters rather than just being a dude they send to do their dirty work

Really wish Garrosh didn't die and was just demoted to battlefield leader. Both factions lost any rabid dog char. So everyone feels weirdly safe. Like it would have been cool to have Garrosh around bc he didn't like Sylvanas so seeing her going bad and justifying his hate to her would have been cool
