This is literally a battle between trying to get the right melody vs syncing with her pitch vs harmonizing with the harmony vs trying not to go of tune🤣

She also jumps in and out of melody. And hardly does the main harmony so if you do sing melody with her, it hardly blends. Harmonies are usually sung close to the melody that they blend so well you can’t hear them apart from the melody itself. However, she is VERY talented and has presented a great challenge.
I have to respectfully disagree. Harmony doesn't really focus on note distance other than the interval and that wont determine if it blends or not. What determines blend is more tonality where your voice sits on a note and in your mouth. Notes can have a slightly sharper or flatter tone (ergo the choir idea of "sitting on top of the note"). If people sing together and sing in different "parts" of the note, it may not blend so well. Its similar with vocal placement (someone singing with a brighter or darker tone). There's a lot more than just notes that play into harmony. Her harmony aligned with the chords of the songs for all of the songs that I knew, so they all work if you have a voice that blends with hers.

haha if you’re in choir, or in musicals, or generally just have a strong sense of tonality, this really isn’t much of a challenge 😛 we call this rehearsal where i’m from 😌
@None of your Business Yeah I can see how it may be difficult to learn how to instinctively harmonize, even when you’re in a choir. My advice is always to listen, listen, listen! Look for patterns in recorded harmonies. One of the most basic types of harmony is singing the interval of a major third (M3 or +3) above the melody. Once you’ve established that common pattern in your ear, you can try for more complex harmonies. I suggest practicing over songs that you know very well first! I know you didn’t ask for advice, but I’m a college music student, so I thought I would comment some anyway 😛
You're probably a mezzo or soprano, my friends who are all do the higher harmonies instantly and I as an alto or even contralto find the lower ones very easily , but when we switch its more of the struggly 😂
After 10 years of building the Show-orchestra I grew up in is falling apart, just like the vocal ensemble which was sort of part of it. I was the solist. We’ve got two concerts left… I was crying tonight, crying today, crying a lot before. Hadn‘t got an opportunity to harmonize again with somebody, to show my voice again. Don’t want to join an other ensemble since it’ll never be the same. It will be an other tearing-apart, senseless. We had huge sponsors, concerts all around Lower Saxony, it’s all dying as we, one After the other, leave. Not everybody could find a place to study what they wanted to in our city. Today I found this video… I was singing at the top of my lungs, would have been even a bit too much impro for a concert… I miss it so much, about to cry again. Thank you for that video. Sincerely, an ex-mezzosoprano from Germany. RIP Orchestra Panorama
This is lowkey such a great way to practice singing with other people. My friend group (specifically the mellos) are really good singers, half of them are in the top choir at our school and everytime we hang out, they start harmonizing and it’s BEAUTIFUL. During hangouts or parties, we end up doing karaoke and I was like, it’d be great if I could keep the melody or even harmonize with them. They do it easily, but I struggle with it. I can sing easily by myself (everyone can lol) but with even one other person, it’s difficult to keep your part and not jump in with the others. Playing an instrument, I used to struggle with that back in middle school, now Ofc playing your part even around several other people who aren’t playing your part, is super easy, I also did choir back in middle school, but again, this was all in middle school. Anyways, LOVE THIS even though I suck at it lol I sometimes also practice with my mom since she was also a top singer in her classes in college and HS,

i just realized that in the "someone like you" in the "don't forget me i beg i remember you said" part, I've always done that, i didn't know i was harmonizing, i don't even know the original version daammnn
Okay I can't be the only one thinking this... I've been in choir for YEARS but yet these harmonies are confusing the hell out of me. They just aren't quite right and it keeps making me doubt whether I'm on the wrong note (I don't think I am). Once I find the right note 100%, the piece will go on and it'll just get wonky with her harmonization. I'm not really sure what's going on here, but she does have incredible talent! Her voice is beautiful ❤ TLDR she's amazingly talented but these harmonies are not right
This kind of supports what I say all the time about melodies and harmonies. The melody, while it’s the part that people listen to cause that’s what they recognize, is the baseline, the home where the song rests and stays throughout. The harmony’s job, on the other hand, is to make the song interesting. It gets to go wherever it wants so long as the baseline is strong enough to come back to. Harmonies are not lesser than melodies or vice versa, they are both equally important in giving structure to music.
Tip for staying on the original tune: Cover one of your ears so you'll hear your own voice and be able to adjust, because if not, you'll just be syncing with her
I'm not a singer at all but when I try to sing the melody I just keep singing the way she sings!! How do I stop it?? It's like I can't listen to myself anymore or the melody and just sing whatever she is singing
Yeahh like what junkless said, just try to focus on your melody. You can press on one side of your ear when you sing so you can hear yourself singing better which helps :) Edit: knowing and holding your note in your mind or just humming it before she starts help as well I wouldn’t worry too much. Even people in choir accidentally sing the wrong notes, especially altos standing next to sopranos 😂
ya don't focus on her AT ALL (other than speed), practice bringing the attention mostly to your own voice, something that also helps me is to hear the song in my head and how it's supposed to be sung. also just practising signing the melody with the actual song.
Finding the starting pitch and then being so excited to sing with someone who has interesting harmonies!! So easy and so fun as long as I knew the song! 😍

these are so cool!! unfortunately almost all these songs are not in my register haha I always have to sing lower and transpose down - i love this idea tho
Even if you're singing it correctly, she's adding vibrato and additional vocalisations and whatnot, so it ends up sounding like she's singing the melody and I'm harmonising. I know jackshit about music but anytime I see a simple harmony, they either sync on the additional flair or the person doing the melody does it.
My alto 1 soprano brain is in love!!!!! I honestly wish I could do the harmony part it’s always so much fun!!! But being able to test my range is so much fun :))))

Some of your melodies went so well with my voice! Def thinking of featuring you with a few on tiktok soon
I'm always singing harmony, so singing lead with your voice makes me feel like I can actually sing 😂 love your voice
Oml girl your gorgeous, can harmonize songs, and can do it damn well. What can’t you do??
i can harmonize but cant reach the notes lmao
this is actually super helpful for me as som eone who sings alongside other people harmonizing with me
my favorite was "best part" :) so cool!
I'm late to the party but this was suprisingly fun and easy the hell. I had to put the volume up so I could hear both myself and her harmonizing. I wish there were more challenges compiled like this from her. Growing up in a church choir since elementary really paid off lol
Wow this was so much fun to sing with! I will definitely be doing it again for fun and practice. Thanks for sharing this awesome gift of yours!!!
My immediate reaction was to harmonize then I ended up matching pitch- I literally cannot do melody
LOVE THIS
Thank you for this, I missed singing with others aka singing the melody while someone harmonizes, I sometimes harmonize when listening to music but it's not the same!
this is where all my training of being a mezzo soprano goes to test
Choir kid be like EZ CLAP
plz do more of these kind of video's, you are sooo good
check her tiktok!! :)
these are so cool!! unfortunately almost all these songs are not in my register haha I always have to sing lower and transpose down - i love this idea tho
Oh this issssss soooooooooo great…love…love….loooooooooove ❤️❤️❤️ best harmony ever…so much fun to sing with you! Goosebumps everywhere!!!
Got all the songs i knew well, these were really challenging harmonies!
Even if you're singing it correctly, she's adding vibrato and additional vocalisations and whatnot, so it ends up sounding like she's singing the melody and I'm harmonising.
I know jackshit about music but anytime I see a simple harmony, they either sync on the additional flair or the person doing the melody does it.
i cannot multi task- hearing a different version while trying to sing makes me mess up like the whole time i was singing her harmony😔💫
As a former alto in middle school I am loving what I’m hearing haha
I could get most of these except the songs I didn't know and that first Adele song
The amount of time I sang flat while singing with you is hilarious to me. You did a great job. I need the practice. 😅
When you don't know the song... 😭
me rn fr
I'm in a choir and I'm Alto, so everything is easy, even easier than normal.
YOU'RE INCREDIBLE THOUGH
I love your voice so much 😫 it's much more fun to sing when I hear your harmonies I feel like I'm singing better
My alto 1 soprano brain is in love!!!!! I honestly wish I could do the harmony part it’s always so much fun!!! But being able to test my range is so much fun :))))
Thank youuuu T_T you're the harmonizing friend i've always wanted but never had
She sings so beautifully
You're amazing, and have a great ear and gorgeous voice. I love singing with you! Singing has gotten me through a lot of hard times in my life, and it will always be there for you too. Brava
it's hard bc she keeps going high and then low
im 3rd soprano but this is still hard for me
My voice broke at the “nothing ever stops you leavING” lol-
me watching this even tho i dont sing and im sick so i just sound like a dying rat
Same...and everybody in the comments saying they’re an alto or soprano while I’m just sitting here not knowing a thing they mean 😅
Naomi you deserve more subs!
This is odd I’m an alto but it’s nice to finally have the melody for once.
