- I am going to be busy tomorrow so you get 2 videos today... and oh boy, do I have a story for you. In between Field Day and the Fear set, I was trying to figure out a good place to film without getting hammered by the pit. I decided to get right next to the bar- it is close to the stage and PA and usually isn't too crazy there. So, while I am waiting for Fear to start, someone spills a beer all the way down the back of my pants. The perpetrator apologizes and leaves. There's nothing I can do, so I stand there in wet pants and film the show. After the set, I see my friend Barbara Manning and I tell her that someone spilled beer down by back. I look back, and it was PUKE. Someone barfed on me and I did not realize it, then soaked in it for over an hour. I was so skeezed out that I took off my pants in the middle of the street in Long Beach and drove back to San Fernando (45min!) in my underwear, with the window down and heater on. The next day, I go to the car to fetch my hoodie and it was puked on as well.
Have a beer with Fear, indeed.
I don't have much to say about the set, except I paid more than $1 per minute that they played. Also, they would be completely screwed if Spit Stix was not with them. He is one of the best drummers in the world and he carried the band through this set.

They sound amazing. Lee's voice is still powerful and Spit Stix is an amazing drummer.
The "play a song about beer guy" is maybe the saddest of all ever-existing humans.
Are you aware of the Fear song called "More Beer"? That's what they're asking for.

I'm not sure how the "play a song about beer guy" didn't get punched in the throat at a Fear concert by the third song.
I remember seeing Fear at the Palace in Hollyweird in 1995. They had Scott Thunes from Frank Zappa's band on bass.
13 years earlier, my band warmed up for Fear at Clutch Cargo's in Detroit in '82. Fear was doing their sound check before the show, and I asked Lee if our band could do a sound check using their equipment before the show started. There would be no time left because we would go on soon and hadn't set up yet.
He turned to the rest of the band and asked, "Do we let people use our equipment?" Apparently, it was a no, but I got to talk to Spit
backstage afterwards and he was very nice.
Ok gotta hand it to Lee Ving, he is over 70 still belting these songs out

Watch their performance in the Decline of Western Civilization(punk documentary by Penelope Spheeris). It's the most confrontational, disgusting, funny and straight up kick ass rocking performance i've perhaps ever seen. I want to have been there, but in a sheet of armor with an AK in my hands. 😄

Excellent in every way! My one, major complaint is that Ving is now, in 2023 singing “New Yorks all right if you’re a fucking saxophone “ instead of “homosexual.” PC from FEAR just ain’t right.

It's not bad. I still think they shoulda broke up 40 years ago. It's just..there's just something like..they're kind of a parody of themselves at this point. But from a musician or artists perspective I understand it's next to impossible to just "stop" doing your craft. It would be like Jack Nicholson just saying "Fuck it, i'm not making movies anymore cuz folks'll think i'm too old." He won't stop till he dies, I guarantee it.
