My interest in Oak Island goes back to the late 1970's as a kid I got a book on lost treasures around the world, included in it was the story of Oak Island with pictures and the latest ideas about it at the time. Really peeked my Imagination.
Another terrific fat and fun-filled episode. I watch the show for the speculation and drama; I am watching you guys for the straight dirt. Well done, and please do as many interviews as the subject allows.
I got so tired of promising finds and just seeing snippets that kept our interest in the show. Teasing only works for so long! I love that you folks are delving into the history and factual data fo us to enjoy. I'm an historical hunter too. Great job

I suspect that the stakes in the swamp were used to measure depth so the area could be engineered/excavated to bring in a ship with a specific draft (due to it being laden with something heavy?).

I remember back in the 1960’s after reading that article on Oak Island and the buried treasure and the various failed attempts over the years. I was a precocious kid, whose reading level was way beyond my years and we used to get the Readers Digest delivered in our mail back then. I was born in ‘59 and the article was in RD in 1965 or 1966 if memory serves me correctly- which yes I read way above my school grade. I grew up in New Brunswick and that summer we took a vacation to Halifax and we stayed in the south end of Halifax at the Hotel that was next to the Train Station. I recall pestering my Dad saying we should go visit Oak Island and try to dig up this treasure that was buried there. I was so keen, this skinny little girl who could read but knew nothing about the fact that someone owns the land and you just can’t pick up a shovel and start digging holes on someone’s property. I’m sure I damn near drove my father crazy with my whining. It was in the Reader’s Digest as I tried to plead my case. 😂 Nope we didn’t drive out that way. Years later, in the 1990’s I was working in Halifax as a community nurse, making house calls, and any time I drove out down the South Shore I would look over at Oak Island as I passed , sometimes I would even park in the parking lot of the Old Oak Island Inn and think about the secrets that Island held. Regarding history in schools yes there was so much history. I believe it was 4th or 5th grade we studied our Maritime history and it was tied into geography for instance the provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island was known as l’Acadie ( Acadia) and there were skirmishes, battles English/French/Indigenous peoples. I believe later on I took Canadian history as an elective in grade 11… yes having an archeological dig site certainly is a wonderful bonus for education of students and adults. Currently I reside in St Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador and there are 2 archaeological sites within a short distance of where I live. Very interesting work and they have programs where you can volunteer yourself on a dig. Early settlements 1610’s. I’m to full of Arthritis to participate in that now but, interesting nonetheless.
I volunteer at Corfe Castle in Dorset. The castle is a maintained ruin that was blown up when captured by roundheads so it could not be used again. Any surviving stone was used to build the village buildings. Any goods were spoils of war and taken for whatever purpose. Soldiers were allowed trophies in lieu of unpaid wages. All items found in archeology digs, renovation work or private collections usually goes to museums for the nation after historical verification//assessment
TheLaginas bought the island in 2006 but they didn’t do anything on the island until 2008. They had to get permits and a treasure travel license in place before they put a bunch of money into it. You really Then they were approached several years later by Kevin Burns to do a television show.
Marty is businessman and I’m sure he is worried even if they score a treasure of silver and gold it won’t payback the enormous investment he sunk into the money pit. I say think again Marty. If the treasure is linked to the Knights Templar, they have enough artifacts that will produce a nice return at auction. The lead cross alone should go for 25 million plus if linked to them.
Yes. We’ve done extensive studies of currency comparisons between the Scots, English and French, over a range of centuries. While it isn’t an exact science, some approximations can be made.

I find it interesting that the king James Bible was rewritten in 1604, and published in 1611. And king james as a boy was king of Scotland, but was king of england as an adult. And king of Ireland as well. (What happned there? I don't know yet .) But it's curious this was all going on at the same time. This was quite the shell game being played on a huge scale.( The money and this treasure that is.)
I’m guessing you would really like my books. Oak Island Knights would be a good place to start. In a couple of months we are going to have a guest whose family was intimately involved with this whole history, from Mary, Queen of Scots and her son King James, to the Nova Scotia charter and William Alexander, to the assaying of ore from Nova Scotia being sent home to the British Isles.
with early New England trading posts the usual practice seems to have been one location, small staff. and then to trans-ship the pelts back to the home colony, would it have been likely that they met the Indians on the mainland and then stockpiled it on Oak Island for ship pick up? i think the Dutch and Swedes handled things differently, prefering to have the Indians enter an established fort.
