- Pablo Picasso was deeply troubled by the rise of fascism and its violence, preluded by the events of Guernica. The small Spanish city of Guernica was bombed during the Spanish Civil War by the forces of Hitler, Mussolini and Franco. Picasso decided to paint a mural to denounce the events of Guernica. The violence and tragedy in this artwork are extremely powerful.

Art has power. Over fifty years ago, my high school English teacher kept a print of Guernica on the chalkboard ledge. The Viet Nam War was raging on at that time. Mr. Byrne couldn't speak out against the war. He would have been fired. So he subtly told the class all about Picasso's painting, Guernica. He let us come to our own conclusions. He was a courageous man and one of the best teachers I've ever had. You're a great teacher as well. Thanks for The Canvas. I love it.
I discovered this channel few weeks ago and I'm slowly getting from the oldest to the newer videos and just wanted to say: thank you, great job. this is exactly the content i was looking for.
Thank you so much! This is such a touching message! Thank you again!
Thank you so much! In two days i'm having an exam which is determinating 5 years of my school carreer. All of a sudden i realized that i still had to study art and remembered these videos i've seen a while ago and really appreciated them. So here i am again, thanking you for your work and its high quality. I love the way you address every subject and went crazy for the unusual interpretation of Munch's scream. After this i'm watching Dali's percistence of memory🥰
I am here because my teacher assigned it during quarantine, anyone else?

@@ja-hanna I wonder why
This video was excellent, insightful and well produced. Surprised you have so few subscribers, if this is your standard of quality expect that to change.

0:47 Why is it, when something happens, it is always you three?
Makes me wonder who is today's Three 🫣
Great explanation Sir. Thank you.🙏😊
The picture of 'Guernica 1937' is actually Hamburg 1944.
Es muy importante continuar una obra empezada.
Great video, please do a video on The Charnel House (Le Charnier) if possible
Thank you for this informative video. I could show this video to show students age 10-13 about Picasso.
I am here to learn how interpret artwork. Anyone?
3 dislikes are from hitler his mom and his dad

We are all Going Toward the Lights..
Very interesting indeed.
Standard voice throughout the video:
That one word: _"Gwerrrrrrrrr-níka!"_
On the bull you can see sketch marks from past iterations
The Guernica should go on a world tour again
the US also backed Franco.
I like it
"Gernica" not "Gwernica"
The bull represents being slaughtered for no reason but for cruel entertainment -- ultimate power of the slaughterer.
Broken sword, flower hope
Asterisk on Hand
Tear shaped eyes on woman
Horse is wounded hidden image of bull and skull
The lightbulb symbolises technological advancements
The eye shape, god or audience is watching
Guernica expresses picasso,s concern about fascism
Bullshit. Its about the friend of his friend the bullfighter Mejias. Nothing else.
