    So incredibly frustrating when videos like this don't show the finished product.

    Thank you so much for the information and instructional video, however, it seems so many ‘how to’ videos don’t show the finished piece...I personally would love to see how it turns out, yours or someone else’s. 😊

    Great tutorial. I always like to see the finished product though.

    How come when I put underglaze on a pot it dries so much lighter than what I mixed up? Will it return back to the original color after being fired?

    • @BethanyThiele
      @BethanyThiele  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Usually it will darken after being fired, and also it will darken if you put clear glaze on top!

      The glaze is evaporating water so the color will look pale but return back to it's original color after firing and glazing

    So you put the gloss glaze on after the piece is fired not before?

    • @BethanyThiele
      @BethanyThiele  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Felicia Whitehair Yes, I fire the underglazed piece, add 3 coats of clear glaze, and then fire again! This prevents the underglaze from streaking underneath.

      Bethany Thiele, Art Teacher is that standard practice, or is it okay to underglaze, put on glaze, and then fire? Or what about putting underglaze before bisque firing?

    Would love to see the label on the glaze. Is the pot fired three times? Can I add the clear on top after underglaze is dry?

    • @BethanyThiele
      @BethanyThiele  ปีที่แล้ว

      First, I bisque fired the pot. Then, I painted with the underglaze on the bisque fired pot. You could fire again and then add clear gloss glaze, or what I did was paint on the clear gloss low fire glaze after the underglaze was completely dry and fired the second time. This saves time but you need to be very careful when adding the clear so you don’t smear the underglaze. If brushing on, work quickly with a soft brush.

      @@BethanyThiele thanks for the great tutorial! can I dip in clear glaze after the underglaze is completely dry, or will it ruin the underglaze pattern?

    • @BethanyThiele
      @BethanyThiele  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Maya-rx4wm If the underglaze is completely dry you can dip in clear glaze or even brush on clear glaze with a soft brush and fire to maturity once dry! The pattern should not move, especially with dip and not brush.

    After the clear glaze, do you have to put your piece back in the kiln to be fired again?

    How long does it take one coat to dry?

    • @BethanyThiele
      @BethanyThiele  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      First coat dries fast, maybe 5 minutes, because it soaks in. Second coat can take a bit longer.
