    It's interesting since Glimne is one of the "giants" in 80-s board game design in Sweden and Dungeon Quest (Drakborgen) had a huge cult following. Recently also Kickstarted in a reprint. He was out from the scene for many years but recently picked up again, maybe times have changed so much that the designs are no longer relevant?

      @nuuqbgg I have now watched Zee's teach and review he did a moth ago with Mike. I now much better understand the game.
      I didn't properly follow Tom's teach which is quicker and not detailed enough for me to understand the game. I prefer slower detailed longer teaches such as Zee does.
      I can now see some simmilarities, but still very basic ones. I agree with Zee's and Mike's, and few other comments on that video, that this isn't too much Splendor like in a gameplay.
      It may be a race up to fixed amoubt of points by way of cards acquiring, but I see very different and new concepts in this new game compared to Splendor.
      Splendor is very basic and minimalistic and pure engine builder, card collecting where you think only in one way of acquiring points.
      In Knarr you are constantly sacrificing/destroying/trading in your progress in card engine you have at that moment, in order to progress further and better. Splendor doesn't have that.
      Knarr is not necessarily too complex, but it does have more rules I'd say, and two types of cards you are sort of building an emgine with , and definitely offers players much more stuff to do and strategies to go for. And all those additions do look to be very interesting and fun.
      After Zee's teach I definitely am super interesting to try this game, where as I wasn't before at all.
      So honestly thank you @nuuqbgg for prompting me, with your question, to better understand the game.

    Sixto doesn't look bad, but it's such a shameless knock-off of Qwixx, and I think Qwixx will play faster since you can only pick 2 dice combos. ::edit:: Just looked up and realized they have the same designers... That explains it, but I'm not sure why they went with pretty much the exact same design.

    • @jameskirk4692
      @jameskirk4692 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Exactly, almost the same. And Qwixx is easier to know which numbers you can cross since they are in order and there are no repeats.
      This version only seens clunky and weird, more complex without any purpose, without adding any additional fun Qwixx already has.
      Even though I love variations and changing and house ruling games, it's weird why they would make another version of the almost exactly the same thing. Qwixx is already perfectly fine the way it is and I love playing it over and over again, and is already simple enough.
      Besides there is already a version of Qwuxx, called Qwinto, which introduces more changes than this and seems more fun. I already planned to try Qwinto some time soon.

    The entire -Opolis series are 10's for me. That said, if I had to rank them Naturopolis would be above Agropolis simply because with the addition of rivers this is the first time when there is one added rule changing the basic placement rules, i.e. a River cannot connect with a Road. That little wrinkle makes this really feel fresh for me. And yes, I do need all three.

    Has Tom not played Qwixx? Sixto is an obvious rip off of Qwixx but with a couple changes. Feel like that should be mentioned here. I haven’t played Sixto, but must say that my favorite part of Qwixx is that you use two dice for the numbers, so it creates a natural bell curve of probabilities centered at 7, accelerating the game in the beginning and slowing it down at the end. Losing this feature to be replaced by randomness with no bell curve would change the feel -and my guess is - for the worst.

      Didn’t expect the personal response, Tom! I would be shocked if you haven’t played Qwixx, since you have surely played more games than just about anybody in the world. I agree that most people have not played Qwixx, so the comparison would not be valuable to them. Still, I wonder whether Sixto is a slightly simpler and slightly less fun Qwixx knockoff?

      @@smurfysnowmanI didn't try Sixto, and I won't. But I agree with you. I just don't know why would you play Sixto and it's sheet and rules, instead of Qwixx. Qwixx is such a smooth game already, and this Sixto doesn't add any more fun to it, just adds more randomness.

    • @jameskirk4692
      @jameskirk4692 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree about the randomness increase in Sixto, and how distribution of the probabilities of each number in Qwixx is nice.
      Combining two dice numbers two best suit you, is so much fun and also mitigates a bit of the bad luck and gives you more strategy I feel.
      And in Qwixx I already know where I can cross of something useful and where I can't, due to numbers being ordered from lowest to highest in two rows and from highest to lowest in other two rows. Which makes it much easier to figure out what you need and don't need much quickly, and is more of a natural and logical flow.

      @@kerim8666 It's not cynical. It's 90% Qwixx. It's not an "iteration". He took away the white die and added two more colors. Whoopee! The actual mechanisms are EXACTLY THE SAME. The only change has been how you get your numbers. That's like claiming a dice version of a card game is a different game. Nobody that has Qwixx - which actually IS next to Uno at Target - would buy this BECAUSE IT'S THE SAME GAME. The Clever games are far more different from game to game and they still share the same name. The back side of the dry-erase version of Qwixx is literally more of an "iteration" than Sixto is. It should've been called Quixxto or Quixx 2.
