May 2024 Book of the Month Recap Discussion - Chp. 1-10

Marielle and Megan discuss chapters 1-10 of May's BotM, Bride by Ali Hazelwood.

We move throughout this story in the heroine, Misery's POV. Misery is a Vampyre, who has never really fit in to her own society. They only call on her when they need something. Again.

We start with her getting ready for her wedding, to secure a peace treaty between Weres and Vampyres. Then we flash back 6 weeks, to how it all came about.

Lowe Moreland, the Were Alpha, is her new husband, and this is the first time in MANY years that a bunch of Weres and Vampyres have been in the same room together without killing each other.

At Lowe's home, she meets his little sister, Ana, who is nearly 7, and seems to take a liking to Misery, and to her cat. Misery has been caring for her BFF's cat, since her friend Serena went missing, right before Misery agreed to this marriage. Misery has a plan.

In a short time, she's attacked by another Were, comes to care about Ana more than she would prefer, and saves Ana from a kidnapping attempt. Then she tries to break into the Weres' systems to find out what happened to her friend Serena, and is caught.

When she comes clean to Lowe about her purpose there, he trusts her with some info of his own, and they agree to help each other...
