In the very last clip, during the celebration, you see a young Kevin Nealon - Saturday Night Live alum, star of many movies and current cast member of the show Man With A Plan.
Then that's when the all-important speed round came into play. Because it gave the player behind at least a chance to catch up and it really was exciting.
There were two clips that should've been in this compilation. One with that woman who answered three questions in a row to win the lot, and the speed round with that Mark guy that ended in a tie followed by a missed response from Jim's question. They were very suspenseful.
the mark you’re referring to is host and voice actor Mark DeCarlo. he still remembers that moment well. I still remember tweeting that episode to him once and he was shocked and remembered it all. I told him should they bring the show back, he’d be a great fit to host. he laughed and agreed, that would be full circle.
Do you think Jim saying "Oh, to hell with the last question! She's got it!" was his way of telling the producers "This 'Final Three' format is stupid"?
I don't know, but, I could not think of a better way to tell the producers of Sale of the Century to ditch that format. The speed round was far better than the sometimes anticlimactic final three questions.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm sure that on the daytime version, contestants were discouraged from going for the Lot by the producers putting the Cash Jackpot in between the Car and everything. This is why the syndicated (and Australian) version was better for Lot-seeking contestants by simply putting the Cash Jackpot as part of the Lot (as opposed to having its own level).
I think the shopping format on the Syndicated was more in the tradition of the Winners Board in which on your final game, you risk all of your end game bonus in order to add the Cash Jackpot.
I remember some winners in the syndicated series… John Goss, Helaine Lowey, Alice Conkwright, Tim Hollerend, in the shopping era. there was also Curtis warren in the winners board era of the syndicated series.
Unfortunately, GSN never aired this episode. They got as far as Crystal Miller's 8th day. Who knows if or when BUZZR will ever air it? The last fresh episode BUZZR aired was Lisa Munoz's final episode and her LOT win.
Technically a) Once Roger answered the first question in Kathy's game, Kathy already won. b) If Kathy would have been dumb enough to go for the lot, it would be wrong for Jim to throw the last question. That $5 could've been the difference between winning the lot and not on the next show.
GSN is no longer airing Sale Of The Century, therefore, I wash my hands of Gsn once and for all. I will be anxiously awaiting the debut of BuzzrTv this summer!
I actually got good news for you there. Buzzr runs their schedule online on their website, and through the Pluto TV app/website. They're going to get The Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour on 2/17/19.
The 1983-89 run's second-to-last champion, Darrell Garrison, failed to win the car, and the final champion, John Rambo (no relation to the Sylvester Stallone-portrayed character of the same name), won $6,000 on the 1983-89 run's last episode.
Just one, Barbara Phillips in 1983. She went into her last day with $484 in her bank, and needed $26 for the Cash Jackpot, and $116 for everything. She had $90 going into the last Fame Game. She hit the $15 Money Card, then answered the last 3 questions to finish the game at $120, giving her $604 in her bank, and you needed $600 for everything including the Cash Jackpot.
In this end game on the show, the only way you win either $10,000 or the car is to uncover the WIN card first. But if the WIN card matches with any other prize on the Winners board, it was back in play until the $10,000 cash or the car was won.
Had David come back and won everything and the Cash Jackpot, he would have finished with over $200,000 (he had over $13,000 in Instant Bargains and Fame Game prizes and Jim said that the lot and Cash Jackpot was over$187,000).
Yes it is. GSN never aired that WIN. They got as far as Crystal Miller's 8th day, which had a question and pun used for Sale's NBC Daytime finale. BUZZR got as far as Lisa Munoz's $50,000 WIN. But hopefully, BUZZR will air the rest of the Syndie Sale in the future.
@@AlexCrupi01 She was trying to get off the show quick. Quick side note, she didn’t buy 1 Instant Bargain, a total of over $23K in cash, $ale’s Surprise, and prizes

I love the old contestant displays with the swirling lights when they buzz in. I wish they keep them.
And the fame game had celebrity photos on the board.
I miss the 80’s.
The last decade where conspicuous luxury extravagance was not looked down upon.
It is all about money now!!
I agree with you
Boy, what a standing ovation the audience gave David, when he won that $109,000.
6:30 "Oh, What the hell with that last question!" LOL 😂😂😂😂
Then that's when the all-important speed round came into play. Because it gave the player behind at least a chance to catch up and it really was exciting.
Wouldn't be surprised if they had to give both of the other players the $5 because they very well could have won it, even if it didn't matter.

This show was awesome back in the day!
Everybody's saying the winners board eps didn't show on USA and clearly that's USA's logo at the bottom of sandy's car win
6:27... even if I lost, i would still have laughed over Jim's realness here.
Enter The Speed Round.
Perry was Savage AF 😂
Do you think Jim saying "Oh, to hell with the last question! She's got it!" was his way of telling the producers "This 'Final Three' format is stupid"?
This led to the introduction of the speed round in 1984.
@@danalong1237 Was Kathy the last cash jackpot winner before the SPEED ROUND debut?
OH HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!
The value of the Cash Jackpot and All of the Prizes and Cash Jackpot (The Lot) increased because of the addition of Speed Round.
RIP Jim Perry (1933-2015)
I don't care about Jim Perry is gonna be here with me, and I don't think that he is still here!

Nobody's Perfect.
ABC should revive this series. Expensive cars, trips and lots of cash 💵!!!
Good ole dayz my favorite game show
In the last video, I noticed that Kevin Nealon was one of Tim's friends that came out to celebrate.
Jan and Kevin were dating at one time, so I think they still were at that point. Sad that Jan is no longer with us.

Sandy's car win is from nighttime. Expect that episode to air on GSN in the future.

USA aired reruns of $ale from 1992 to 1994.
What happened to GSN?
They have a five hour marathon of Steve Harvey’s Family Feud 7 days a week. Is that all they got?

Now about Tim.
Did he work with Kevin and Jan (I assume on The Groundlings), or was just lucky that two of friends would become cast members of SNL?
How many sides are equal on an isosceles triangle?

SOTC is coming to GSN, April 1st.
GSN is airing Curtis Warren's run as we speak.

3 years his run is now on BUZZR

Do you have the episode where the contestant only won by $2?
How many people managed to win every prize on the stage plus the cash jackpot when the CJ was a prize by itself?
Also, how many people won the $50,000 on the winners board and the winners big money game?

so with the Winner's board format, if BOTH Win cards came up in the same episode, did the contestant lose both or just the first one that came up?
It was the next card picked. This happened
