Missing piece of information here : Chris Payne co-wrote "Fade to grey" and played synths on the track (bass and synth strings), using a polymoog.
Yes I know. But too late to change it. Happy New Year :)
Happy new year. My parents heard this album at the Berlin Funkausstellung in 1980 via the new Sennheizer-headphones. After that we got new headphones, the cassette and I got deeply involved with Visage. It was like a hit from a meteorite for us at that time, only comparable with the television appearance of Kraftwerks model in german TV 1978. Thanks for sharing and I am looking for the track at soundcloud,
Thanks for your interesting story. I always appreciate when you guys share your stories :) I will soon upload the backing track to SoundCloud. Happy New Year :)
Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your kind words and support. Happy New Year :)
There may be great music around now, but in the early 80s it was far more important. Back then, we had three TV channels and each other. Music was everything else.
One of my favourite albums being an Ultravox fan. This album was so important for the New Romantic movement that was developing and the use of synthesisers in popular music
*I always find it bizarre when musical eras are described as 'movements'. It's as if they have some sort of 'political' objective in mind. It's pure overkill*
I totally agree. Happy New Year :)
Synthesisers in popular music had been going on long before Visage.
Yes indeed. Wendy Carlos, Kraftwerk and many more...
There first album is a all time classic and still on of my favs ever❤
Great video. Always fascinating to get some background info into classic albums.
Thanks for your kind words and support :). Yes I too learn a lot when i research the bands or artists for the video scripts. I grew up with all these bands but at that time there were no internet or social media so info about the bands, the members and how they started etc. was very limited here in Denmark. So I enjoy discovering new info each time i do research :)
So, errr, Strange :) Only 2 days ago I was scouring youtube for any Visage retrospective and came up empty! Had to read the wiki entry instead. Thanks for making this!
I am happy you liked it :) Thanks for your kind words and support. Happy New Year :)
Really interesting in-depth video for those of us who loved to listen and dance to New Romantic music.
Thanks for your kind words and support. Happy New Year :)
Really interesting back story on Visage and all the musicians that made that album.
Keep up the good work 👍
Some of my favorite albums from that time period.
1, simple minds, sons and fascination / new gold dream
2, David Bowie , scary monsters
3, human league, Dare
4, Heaven 17, penthouse and pavement
5, japan, tin drum
Those are some of my favorite albums too :) I am happy you liked it :) Thanks for your kind words and support. Happy New Year :)
A masterpiece!
Yes I agree. Its an amazing album. Happy New Year :)
YESSS!! a visage video!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your kind words and support. Happy New Year :)
Before the Visage release Strange was in Bowie’s video Ashes to Ashes.
Thanks for the info I did not know that :) But it makes sense as Steve Strange and Rusty Egan organized the "Bowie Nights" at the later named Blitz Club and I know Bowie visited the club. Happy New Year :)
Way ahead of their time… the sounds, arrangements, songs… innovative!
I totally agree. Happy New Year :)
What’s the version of the Fade to Grey, music playing underneath this great video
Happy New Year :)
Its something I did. No title. Just for the video as I cant use the original music from Visage without getitng a coipyright warning :) I might upload it to soundcloud in the new year if and when I finish the track:

Very good info/vid.
Thanks for your kind words and support. Happy New Year :)
Ah yes December 1994 and a secondhand cassette copy of the 1980 gem from an outdoor market. Still play it today but on TH-cam.
One of my favorite bands, since I'm a huge Ultravox and Midge Ure fan. One note: Teach your AI voice that in Britain, "Reading" is pronounced as "redding".
Thanks for your kind words and support. Yes the word "reading" is not pronounced the right way. I do try to be as careful a possible but errors do occur. Anyway its too late to edit it so we just have to live with it :). Happy New Year :)
I was in high school, in the french countryside, and fade to grey was used in our end of year show. I've been a fan ever since.
I thought the band was named after the french word for face, which is 'visage'
I also thought that Visage meant "face" until i did the research for the video. In his audiobiography "Blitzed" Steve strange clearly mention that he came up with the name and that it meant: Vis = Visual element of the band, Visa = Represented that they were going to be a global band, Age = Symbolized their part in the new age of music.
Happy New Year :)
Really good video about one of my favourite bands, although the AI narrations pronunciation of Reading as ‘Reeding’ was a little of putting. And no mention of Chris Payne who was involved with the writing of Fade To Grey and credited as being in the band.
Thanks for your kind words and support. Yes the word "reading" is not pronounced the right way. I do try to be as careful a possible but errors do occur. Anyway its too late to edit it so we just have to live with it :). And you are right about Chris Payne. Happy New Year :)
@@80sNewWaveMusic The Reading/Reeding thing was a little picky of me I suppose, because it certainly didn't take anything away from the video. Happy New Year to you too :o)
I have always preferred the second Visage album even though the first one is very good.
I also think some of the songs on Anvil are a bit stronger and more interesting but I love both albums. Happy new Year :)
I was a bit disappointed but there are some great tracks
The very best of good times in the 80s Now it's all a load of shit
He he yes sometimes iy feels that way. There is good music out there though. You just have to do some digging ;) Happy New Year.
@@80sNewWaveMusicPeople tell me there's still great music, if you look for it, but back then, you were falling over the stuff.
Enjoyed it and even overlooked the mispronunciation of Reading, but can’t get past the flagrant mispronunciation of Moog - that’s unforgivable, sorry
Sorry you feel that way. I am sure you'll get past it though (flagrant? nahhh) ;) There's many opinions about how Moog is pronounced. Each to their own. Happy new Year :)
Even the dear Mr. Moog himself admit there are 3 ways to pronounce it ;)

I think that “The Anvil” is a much stronger album
I tend to agree but still love both albums :) Happy New Year :)
I agree. I still list to it regularly since the 80s. Has not aged and I still love every song.
